  • I don't think I've ever actually been jealous! At most I get a bit wistful... "I wish I could put makeup on as well as other women", or "It must be nice to be able to reach the shelves in your own kitchen". ;)
  • Vladomir Nabokov snuck his own name into the book Lolita, by rearranging the letters to form the name of the character Vivian Darkbloom.
  • I save some cals for snacking. Usually have (roughly) 200 for breakfast, 200 for lunch, 500 for dinner and 300 for snacks, because I like to eat little and often, including evening snacks.
  • I do this too. If its not something I wanted to eat (too fatty, sugary, or just not to my taste) I say "Thanks for offering, that's really thoughtful of you, but I'm not hungry right now".
  • Boaty McBoatface
  • I make mine with water then add a bit of milk over it to serve. Also try traditional rolled oats instead of quick oats.
  • Not an old wives tale. A day on the bench at room temp is roughly equivalent to a week in the fridge, so fridge will keep them fresh longer but benchtop is fine if you use them up within a few weeks. It does depend on your clinate though, and if you are using fresh laid or store bought eggs. Store bought are often a few…
  • We eat our eggs (brown and white) wihin 2 days of them being laid and sometimes they are hard to peel but it's not that common. Doesn't seem to matter how I cook them, cool them, or store them. Seems to be more related to individual chicken's diet at the time.
  • I try to eat only within a 12 hour period each day, to try and combat late night, boredom eating. E.g. if breakfast is at 8am, then I try not to snack after 8pm. It helps my sleep quality a little compared with nights when I have supper after 10pm.
  • Ferritin is kind of your stored iron. I take "Ferrograd C" to supplement because I have iron-deficiency anaemia... it's iron in the form of ferrous sulfate plus Vit C (to help absorption) and available over the counter at our pharmacies, but still best to check your bloods first as mentioned before due to the risk of…
  • I went to a gym years ago and they had staff walking around with chocolate coated marshmallow fish lollies, handing them out to everyone! Was quite peeved at the time, as I had been trying to avoid sugary treats.
  • Doc said "yoga" and "work within your limits" but failed to give me any guidance beyond that. I went to a pensioner/infirm yoga class and all the little old ladies were wiping the floor with me in the "arms up" positions. I would be happy if raising them only half way would still build the muscle strength... it gets a bit…
  • A full blood test will reveal if you are iron deficient and supplements are not recommended without doctor advice as too much iron can be bad for you. Many other vitamin deficiencies and illnesses have fatigue as a factor. I deal with fatigue on a daily basis, in my case caused by MS and iron deficiency anaemia. The…
  • I have a can of condensed soup here that contains (when prepared with added milk/water) 3.4 servings. I can't fathom how they decided on that figure... seems a bit arbitrary.
  • There is no FAIL, only learning. Like any new skill or habit you need to practise until you become good at it. If you did not suceed this time, think about what went wrong, figure out how to avoid the same issue next time, and give it another go. You can do this!

  • Tell me about it! And this was a room of science/physics students as well (usually an area where you would expect to find a higher proportion of gamers and geeks) On the bright side, the Uni has an Anime and Manga Club so she has found some kindred souls there.
  • Same here. Had a toddler at the time and hubby and I both came down with 'flu while driving back froma trip out of town. We got home, put ourselves to bed with high fever, chills, excrutiatingly sore skin, severe joint pain for 24 hours, along with the more standard sore throat, runny nose etc. I have no idea how we…
  • Our tap water used tomtaste great then one year they did pipe repairs somewhere in the system and our water has ever since tasted like it was filtered through a poorly managed compost heap. We invested $250 in an underbench water filter and replace the filter every 6 months and now the water has no taste and it still costs…
  • Iron in eggs isn't that well absorbed anyway so I wouldn't bother try to keep it away from milk. (also I love custards and quiches hehe)
  • There will be cellulose in the glue perhaps?
  • Dunno about i digestion etc but I have to eat my coffee and dairy foods for breakfast and lunch, so that I get maximum absorption from my iron rich dinner.
  • Here in Australia, fresh produce and wholefoods do not attract tax, whereas processed foods (as well as other goods and services) have a 10% tax on them. Personal responsibility is one thing, but with poor food choices being so cheap, easy and available you get lower socioeconomic families feeding their kids non nutritious…
  • One chicken breast here weighs about 250g so I split it into two serves. I would usually only eat 100 -120g per serve, twice a week.
  • I did yesterday. Have only been logging for 2 weeks but struggling with some other health issues and woke up depressed yesterday, skipped breakfast and lunch, scoffed some white chocolate blondies for afternoon, had a meat/pasta/cheese dish for dinner with coffee (usually a no-no to have caffeine with dinner because of my…
  • People are more attractive when they are comfortable with who they are. Since losing weight can help you become a happier, more confident person, then I can see why someone might seem more attractive after they lose weight if they were miserable with low self esteem before the weight loss. It's that sparkle of light/joy in…
