Needing to lose weight and knowing that diet alone doesn't work for me, I simply started walking. If it is too hot or too cold outside, I walked inside my house. My first walk was about 5 minutes so don't be discouraged by the length of time or distance you can achieve. I would try to walk every day for just as far as I…

Congratulations! You are inspiring. I have lost from 213.4 pounds in May 2021 to 165 pounds as of today!

No, my doctor never mentioned how much weight I had gained over the years. Now, being diagnosed as diabetic, it makes me angry. When my annual A1C results were 8.5, she said unfortunately now you will always be diabetic. Then followed up with would you like to lose weight? It would have been good to know before I passed…

I ate as normal without eating traditional holiday food. I prepared my own meals all day and although I did not get my usual daily exercise in, I did not gain.

I have used Orgain Organic Protein powder for 8 months to supplement my protein intake. 2 scoops is 150 calories and can be mixed with water. However, I use 8 oz. Silk and 8 oz. water with mine.

Attained my goal of losing 40#s by December. Now working on the next 10#'s. After that, I will buy some new clothes since everything I own and wear now is totally baggy!

The struggle is real! I am and wow, what a different journey this time. I have yo-yo'd for most of my life and goodness, it was so much easier to lose back then. I am down 35#s in 5 months and very happy with that progress. I always thought if I eat less and exercise more, I would lose weight. Now I have to eat more than I…

Not sure how to add people. Can anyone help with that?

Maybe not a surprise but losing weight at 71 and the end result looks so much different than when I lost it in earlier generations of age. I mean, in my 20's, totally lean and strong. In my 30's, more work to get there but I achieved that body. 40's and 50's and 60's...well, never quite the same but better. But now...down…

I set my own calorie limit for the day in the settings but I don't know how to stop having those exercise calories burned not added back into the daily calories. I just disregard them since I don't care to eat them and stick with the amount I know I am allowed.

Keeping to my commitment to plan my meals and log every bite that goes into my mouth.

Steady as she goes! Good inspiration for me-thanks!

I am going to be 71 in a couple weeks and was just diagnosed as diabetic. My doctor said she will not put me on metformin at the moment and will recheck my glucose/A1C level in 3 months. Meanwhile I am testing every morning and so far I am doing well in lowering my numbers. But its only been 11 days so we will see. Eating…

I spend alot of years in a desk job and what helped me then was to set a timer to make myself deliberately get up for some reason and move around. Now in retirement, I set a timer for 20 minutes each time I sit down. When it goes off, I get up and do some housework, food prep, laundry, whatever. I do it each time I sit…

I understand your frustration. I used to weigh throughout the day and my weight can flunctuate by 4 pounds-so maddening since I thought I was doing so well. Now, I only weigh on Tuesday mornings about 10am, after my morning walk and right after my shower. I put the scale in an inconvenient location so I am not tempted to…

Amen to that! I feel that way also. Just tired of the physical, mental, and emotional weight of being overweight. Little by slowly and just keep chugging along. It can happen!

I was really up in the air about these but after research and gathering opinions of friends that work out alot, I bought Gold Standard 100% Whey protein powder from The Vitamin Shoppe. Has 30 servings (29.4g) and purchased with tax for $26.00 so about $.88 per serving. I have big trouble getting enough protein so sometimes…

I don't think there is a difference in benefit but I am an outdoor vote! Something happens when I am outside, in the fresh air, looking all around me-makes me feel humble and grateful that I have the strength to walk, two good legs to do it with, and the time to devote to myself.

Hi, just want to put in my two cents. I can do that to myself, too. It's almost like the "fear of failure, fear of success" thing in that why do I quit doing what is good for me? Self-sabotage is what I call it. I am working on developing a couple things that seem to be working for me. One is that I have no junk food in…

I believe my sister-in-law lost a significant amount of weight in a similar short length of time, having weighed 350 pounds and having gastric bypass surgery. Otherwise, seems kinda rash.

Hi Cyndee, I have alot of trouble with getting sufficient protein as well. I don't like beef, chicken, or turkey, am allergic to eggs, so I used tuna, fresh fish, and legumes for a week. Finally I talked with some fitness friends who suggested protein shakes. Went to the Vitamin Shoppe and purchased Gold Standard 100% whey…

From what I understand, you are supposed to eat the calories from exercising each day. The alloted amount given you (1200) has already taken into account a weight loss factor. Just eat healthful things for the calories alloted for exercise.

IMHO-face time is what counts. People can be whoever online and on phone/text.

Gosh, your office friends should like me years ago, which is why its so hard to lose weight now. My metabolism is way out of whack because of those crash diets, not to mention diet aids, starvation (I get a high from not eating, do you?), yoyo weight gain/loss over the years. I have probably lost several people in weight…

I find myself in that situation often. Somehow I just don't get enough calories in throughout the day, particularly when I exercise alot. So I agree that its fine to eat after 6 or 8pm. It's important to eat enough or your body sabatoges you. Healthy rather than unhealthy but honestly, sometimes I have a few (14) jelly…

I cook my rice in vegetable broth and while it is cooking, I saute` sliced mushrooms, sliced onion, chopped green bell pepper and garlic in a very small amount of olive oil till softened a bit, then add garlic powder, onion powder, a little sea salt, cracked black pepper, stir to blend, then add tofu and toss for a couple…

Hi, I am Rita and today is day one on my journey towards a heathier, more fit me. I love the tracking and monitoring because when I have to write down what I eat, it makes me think twice. Also the exercise tracking encourages me to burn more calories, to push just a little more. I feel excited yet challenged which is a…
