Great post! I too, started running just last year and am now doing 35-40 miles a week. I lift heavy too, so it took me a while to adjust my lifting routine, and my legs, to accommodate distance, not sure how many times I've said "I'm not built for running" Haha This weekend I am doing the New England Relay with my running…

I'm going to be starting this on Monday, but I don't go to the gym, just lift at home. Anyone else using free weights? Reading through this I'm already concerned that I don't have enough weight! Gah!

I love Insanity. I can't compare it to anything else, it's...insane. I completed a round of P90X prior, but also dove right in. I lost inches and gained lean muscle. The first month is roughly 40-45 minutes a day, the second a little longer.

I get them too and agree with ice and rest. I also stand with my toes on the edge of a stair, lift up and lower slow, repetitively until failure, also if I am sitting and happen to think of it, just point and flex my toes. I find it helps the muscles to "agree" with each other. Hope your shins are happy soon!

It's my all time favorite!

My calves also get hard as rocks after a while. With me, it's the hydration thing...it's not as bad after I've had plenty of water :)
-
Gavintri..same here, the ocean one!
-
@mlgarcia3 10...I have ab envy ;)
-
I am the same way...I have have HAVE to get a workout (sometimes 2) in, even on "rest" days. I like the pain, if I'm not sore, I'm not happy :)
-
You are correct, but thank you! :)
-
You DO NOT look 44, love your smile!
-
Aww, aren't you guys sweet...I'm 34....soon to be 35....lol...thanks for the ego boost!
-
I was going to say 25 as well!
-
I also find it really hard to truly rest. I'll do a light cardio, abs and yoga or an easy 3 miles. This week is especially hard because I am doing a Tough Mudder on Saturday and trying not to go balls to the wall as I usually do. I'm gonna go mad! lol
-
I'm on round 2...love love love it! However after this, I think I'm going back to Insanity just to switch it up...I'll probably miss it too much and go back....lol
-
Nicely done! Don't you just love it when those obliques start popping out?! Keep up the good work!
-
I love Turbo Fire...I'm on round 2 and have seen most of my results with this program...(although I do lift 3-4x/week and run as well...lol) I usually just do the stretches at the end, but squeeze in Stretch 40 now and then too :)
-
I've done P90X, then Insanity, then a hybrid...love 'em both :) P90X is strength and cardio on alternating days, and Insanity is definitely more cardio, but you also use your own body as resistance for strengthening...like I said, love 'em both!

Wow! Fantastic!!

I love both P90X and Insanity, but if you're short on time ChaLean Extreme is another great alternative (35 minutes on average with a couple of longer ones). Definitely lift heavy/low reps. The dvds offer good guidance, esp if you are new to lifting :)
-
That I'm proud of what I have accomplished!
-
WOWZA!
-
You look great! Keep up the good work!
-
Just started up again about a month ago, and just last night I posted on FB "It's official....I love to run." lol Heading out for a good one shortly!
-
5'3" here, feel free to add me :)

Good for you for doing P90X! Personally I love kickin' my own *kitten*! It feels great afterwards! It's empowering.....you're friend, well, that's just ignorant. It's not possible for you to bulk up like a man. You'll just come in a tighter package with defined muscles! Keep rockin' it girl!

Ageed, I feel so much better when I am in shape as opposed to just having lost weight. People don't believe me when I tell them what I weigh (although I was -4 this morning, I rarely weigh myself) they think I weigh much less. Uuummm, it's the muscle people...because I'm in shape? Get it? I'm happy with my weight, but I…

I'm 5'3" / 130 and people don't believe me, they think I'm more like 115. Nope, sorry guys, it's the muscle. I don't generally weigh myself anyway. Feel free to add....shorties unite! lol
