  • 5'10'' and when I lose 2 more pounds my BMI will be "normal". Mostly size 12 pants. A couple 10's. I carry my weight in my belly. I am really very satisfied with my clothing sizes and have always felt comfortable at about this size. I'd like to lose 5 or so pounds now, more for health, than clothing size change. 10 pounds…
  • Good for you. Being healthy is so important and making changes at any age can make a difference. Keep it up!
  • My son usually does a 3 day juice detox fast
  • I did a veggie juice detox back in June as a way to help me focus on limiting food and it helped me to get rid of cravings for things like sugar. I began my "sensible" weight-loss program immediately following. I lost a couple pounds in the 2 days of juice. I didn't like it very much. My son has used juicing a couple times…
  • The more opportunities the whole family has to taste natura/lower caloriel foods, the sooner everyone will be healthy and will actually enjoy the taste of the new foods. Try preparing lots of vegetables as side dishes with a littel olive oil and lots of the spices you love (garlic, red pepper flakes, onion, lemon-pepper,…
  • I started getting back to health again June 1, 2014 and I'm close to the 30 pound mark. Eveyone is different. I have been very consistent in my chosen method: Around 1200 calories daily, and exercising 3 times a week 20 min to 60 min (would like to do more but I have a lot of extra responsibilities in my life),…
  • My husband is very positive towards my weight loss and food choices. He will ride bikes, go to the gym, or walk with me most of the time if I ask. I notice he makes more healthy choices when we eat out. Since your wife can't go to the gym with you (unless you two can afford it for her....since she didn't win a membership),…
  • According to a recent blood test, I have transitioned through meopause. I've been diagnosed with hypothryroidism since my mid-thirties, and will be 50 next month. I still have some hot flashes. I take synthroid 25 mg as prescribed daily for my thyroid. Stopping caffine has helped the hot flashes. Committment and hard work…
  • Congratulations. I restarted in June and am feeling successful, healthier. Glad you're getting up again!
  • Raw tri-colored peppers, blueberries, , hummas, 100 calorie pack of nuts......makes a great low-cal lunch. Always drink lots of water.
  • Try Silk Almond-Coconut Milk.....lots of health benefits and just a small amount adds a lot of flavor. I do like black coffee as well.
  • I love diet soda....when I'm addicted to it....but after I'm off it for several days, I don't crave it and it actually doesn't tast good...unless I let myself get addicted again. I do know I feel better without sodas. I was never a coffee drinker but I've heard such good news about the antioxidants that I have been…
  • Regular instant (or slow cook) with a TBSP of peanutbutter or diced fruit or nuts. It's quick to prepare in the microwave and will keep you feeling full for a long time. Experiment with the amount of water you prefer. I like mine thick but some like it thin or with milk instead of water. 100 calories per instant pack when…
  • You can do this....feel free to friend me.
  • Calories are what I monitor the most and try to eat foods containing more nutrition. A small candy bar and a large apple may have the same calories, but I'll satisfy my hunger longer and get more nutrition from the apple. However, I may choose the candy bar if I really want it on occasion, as long as I don't go over my…
  • Since preventative healthcare is on the rise, I suspect they'd be happy to allow you to weigh; however, I wouldn't just pop in, but call ahead, maybe arranging to do this at a slower time of day for the clinic. It is best to weigh on the same set of scales since there is always a little variation and when you're losing,…
  • I eat foods that I love (less than I used to) and I do activities that I love (more than I used to) because it makes me feel so much better. It's a nice bonus that some think I look better with more muscle and less fat.
  • I'm 5'10" and would welcome new friends
  • Great! You look more toned in the mid-section now than in the 2006 photo, good for you!
  • I have cholestrol issues too and have taken a statin-type prescription medication for more than 5 years. After losing 25 pounds and exercising regularly, my choleserol was very low and my doctor decided to take me off my medication for a trial. In 2 months I was rechecked and had lost a couple more pounds and continued…
  • A friend of mine works in the local high school cafeteria and there have been some mixed responses. She said many kids are excited to be able to get 2 veggies and 2 fruits plus milk and one main dish as this is more food, although healthier. Some do complain that there are fewer selections of meats/main dishes (no longer…
  • Every time you walk, you are achieving success;however, you may not be able to see the results on the scale immediately. Enjoy this journey, it will take awhile. When I'm not walking outside with a friend, I enjoy the treadmill or elliptical at the gym. I also have severeal of the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home…
  • I think a dress of symmetrical length and shoes that are less chunky would be more flattering. Wear what makes you feel great, though.
  • I'd guess you've gained some muscle in your core, but you'll have to eat less to lose the fat covering the muscle. I had to realize that at one time, too.
  • I only eat some of the exercise calories if I am hungy and did not have a problem reaching my goal nor maintaining now. I've never had trouble achieving my calories eating a variety of veggies/fruits/meat/whole grains with additions of greek yogurt, nuts, avacado, peanutbutter or on occasion icecream!

  • Other sources of protien are greek yogurt, milk, unsalted nuts, beans (frozen, fresh or dried are best but if you must buy canned, then drain and rinse with water before heating).
  • It helps me to remember that I enjoy feeling great and looking better without the extra pounds. You can do this for you!
  • I have always eaten more protien than the standard MFP recommendations which satisfies for longer.
  • I often order vegetarian fajitas and don't eat the shells. If served with rice and beans, I'll eat just a bite or two of each.
