  • Hi @miabell76 -- just wondering how you are making out. I found your post when I searched the community for "hysterectomy" as I also had one on April 4th (laporoscically assisted vaginal hysterectomy) to remove my cervix, uterus, tubes and lymph nodes (left my ovaries as I am 37yo). This was for treatment in very, very…

  • This is exactly what I came into this forum to find -- accountability and support! I'm an MFP drop out and I need to get back on track! • I started (back into) working out with an 8-week fitness program, which started and ended with a fitness test. I started the program able to do 70 squats and ended with 105 -- that was breaking parallel, continuous with no rest. So that is a benefit of body-weight squats -- as a fitness test. The program itself used a…
  • I do this! I've got a tasty creamy greek dressing from the cooler section of the grocery store - forget the brand, but it's delish --- buts it's 120 cals for 2 tbsp. so I add water, shake it up, and toss with my salad. Covers each morsel perfectly. I sometimes add salsa to ranch for a calorie cut plus flavour boost!
  • I'm enjoying this thread purely for the fact that it is sensible, not that I'm ready to nix my deficit anytime soon. My question: is there really a difference between doing a recomp.... And someone who is at maintenance and exercising to challeng their fitness limitations? I see the latter as my end-goal phase... But it…
  • I've thinned ranch dressing with water, it makes a little go a longer way (to cut calories). This is a recipe I'm trying soon: http://www.simple-balance.ca/2015/05/green-goddess-dressing/
  • I make this for my kids for "breakfast for dinner" sometimes (using whole eggs though) -- now I want some!!
  • I just searched them out on YouTube -- she's not wrong! lol! I mean... from what I've heard about porn...
  • They are my only workout source, besides my elliptical and walking outdoors. Do them 5 days a week! I just finished the latest 8 Week Program for Busy People and had great results, even though my diet wasn't as tight as it could be.
  • 10 days to the big day! You look amazing! Congrats!
  • This is what I do too, and my experience is similar. I log the lowest number of their range. And I also don't weigh my food -- so hopefully it balances out somewhere. :)
  • I've thought about branching out to try others, but I haven't felt the need to. What are your other favs?
  • It's 5:25... I need to stop by the grocery store on my way home from work. I am going to eat.all.the.food. Great thread OP, and those asking the drool-worthy questions!
  • This happens to me after a certain lower body routine I have done... and because of that I plan to use it a lot more! I find, at first, the only time the soreness actually goes away is when I am active -- maybe the muscles warm up/loosen up.
  • I haven't decided! I do the workouts in the morning, so 30 mins is all I can manage. I've scheduled in some workouts myself this week, choosing some of my favs. I may do this one over again!
  • It's supposed to be a 1 mile test, but when I started this our weather was too bad to run outside, and I have an elliptical at home -- so I made my own endurance test. :) I should have explained that, sorry!
  • No, at home! All you need is a devise do access the Internet, Dumbbells and a mat. ETA: you could do it at the gym though.
  • Results are in! Of note,'I wasn't spectacular with my diet, and was over my limit more days than not! May 17: post 8 weeks Elliptical level 2, 20 mins: 2557 steps 22half push-ups 105 squats 91 second plank +1" stretch 149lbs Bust: 38.5" Belly (2 fingers below navel): 36.25" Hips: 39.5"
  • I just want to pop in to say follow your intuition and your dreams -- you know yourself best and you understand what motivates you -- and best of luck! I think its perfectly reasonable to get in shape WHILE working on your certification -- you will learn from both experiences and each will benefit the other. Take it as far…
  • Here is a realted question -- if I am doing, for example, a 30-minute strength circuit, and record it in MFP -- are my calories being a bit "double counted" for the steps I took during the workout?
  • If you want to add in a few more years of schooling -- what about becoming a Physio Therapist? That's what I thought of when you said you liked anatomy books. :)
  • I meant without a FitBit... I could estimate my TDEE using historical data from MFP. :)
  • I actually just downloaded the fitbit app, but without a device -- instead the app uses my iPhone to count steps -- and synced it with MFP -- and I really appreciate that it gives me negative calorie adjustment when I'm a slack-*kitten*! It just motivated me to get up and do a few flights of stairs! Note, I do plan on…

  • I purchased a plan from FitnessBlender.com... yes, the workouts themselves are free, but you still have to plan them out -- or buy a plan for $9.99 and they plan it out for you for 8 weeks!
  • FitnessBlender.com --- 1000's of free workout videos. You can find anything you are looking for, for any amount of time, with different equipment options --- lots of great strength training, cardio (high or low impact), yoga/stretching -- you name it. Lots of focus on form, no loud music, calming backdrops... I don't think…
  • I really like this approach! I am getting a FitBit (hopefully today), so am interested in this. ************************* Not to hijack this thread... but I am looking at this calculation, and I realize that I could calculate my TDEE using historical data as well... right?!? If I take my 4 week average daily NET calories:…
  • Yes! And it's not just the family time I feel guilty for missing, it's all the "to-do" list (both home and work) as well... So like many of you, I get up early before my family is up and it's the ONLY way I've been able to workput consistently. 5 days/week x 30 mins and I am loving it! However I did fail at getting up 2…
