  • So, I emailed Simply Orange and Tropicana. This is the response I received from Simply Orange: All Simply products are vegan, with the exception of Simply Orange® Pulp Free with Calcium and Vitamin D and Simply Orange® Medium Pulp with Calcium and Vitamin D. Vitamin D3 is derived from lanolin, which is a natural oil in the…
  • http://thecompassionatevegan.blogspot.ca/2012/07/tofu-feta.html Vegan feta cheese... minimal ingredients, very easy to make. I was amazed how similar the texture is, and that I could make a greek salad with it.

  • Did you contact the Humane Society/SPCA/Animal Control?
  • If it's between two similar products and one is "may", I buy the one that isn't. If there is only one product (like last week when I was buying pitas) and it says "may", I buy it. Same with "made in a factory that also makes...". I am doing this as an ethical choice, not because of an allergy or intolerance.
  • I take Reactin, it works instantly... I'm not anti-medication though.
  • oils i get, but i don't understand why there is milk in salt n vinegar or ketchup chips, for example, it seems to be only some brands.
  • Vegan ranch dressing: http://www.food.com/recipe/best-vegan-ranch-dressing-132916 Just made this and mixed in with chopped caulflower, sliced grape tomatoes, fried and drice tempeh bacon, and green onions. so good.
  • Have you gone to your doctor and had blood work done? I think that would be much too short of a time on the diet for any major bodily changes like early menopause to set in. Could be a sign of countless other things that may or may not be related to the diet (e.g., increased soy, decreased or increased dairy, decreased…
  • ... on that note, I would also love to hear any good vegan christmas recipes, as I need to prepare something for a potluck on Saturday!
  • a suggestion is if attending someone else's dinner, bring a vegan side than can be eaten as a main, if needed. one of the worst ways to promote any veg* lifestyles is to be the person munching on raw vegetables in front of a big tasty dinner :|
  • Yup I eat lots of kale, dark greens, and beans, but although it was hitting the MFP levels, not so much in my blood work.
  • definitely wasn't for iron, even with multivitamin, so I am now taking an iron supplement. Calcium I surprisingly was, I guess from all the dark greens I eat.
  • Hopefully you are well on your way, but just wanted to share a tip I read. During your first month or so, don't worry about calories or cost (if this is possible for you). Not to say eat chips everyday, but plan great vegan meals with lots of fresh food. It's been about 2 months for me now, and I look forward to everything…
  • Thanks for all the advice. I will look into the Deva vitamins once my dailys get low. I will also consider the Omega 3 vegan supplements, as this is something I have heard is important to brain development later in life..
  • I've started incorporating hemp seeds and flax seeds into my diet. Hopefully this will make up for some deficiencies. I wasn't a big dairy consumer before anyways, but want to make sure I do this right.
  • Interesting idea with the 2 sandwiches! I had a huge delicious dinner when I got home, was worth waiting :)
  • It's Canadian Thanksgiving today :) I made maple glazed root vegetables: http://vegetarian.about.com/od/maindishentreerecipes/r/MapleVeggies.htm a cranberry/walnut mixed green salad baked tofu with maple bbq sauce (can you tell its a Cdn dinner haha) ginger molassess cookies for dessert
  • Just want to make sure I am covering all my bases. I know calcium is something that I might start lacking.
  • I heard this as a dieting quote but think it applies "if you miss one stop sign driving home, it doesn't mean you can miss all the rest". :) I had a tough time with this over thanksgiving (hard to say no to things like mashed potatoes and veggie stuffing, when I'm pretty sure there is milk or butter in both). I guess we…
  • I read a book awhile ago, The Sexual Politics of Meat... anyways it was saying that one of the problems with having these conversations is that they typically happen over dinner. The other family members have their argument sitting in front of them, a roast of tasty meat. No matter what you say will fall on deaf ears…
