  • Hi everyone! I have been neglecting this group for the past couple of weeks. It's time to get back on track! My 2011 was good overall. I definitely struggled with binge eating, but I also started taking more proactive steps to combat it; instead of continuing to do the same things that never solve the problem, I branched…
  • I feel you. Last week was like that for me almost every day. I would wake up promising myself that things would be different, but they never were. This week, I have been writing in my journal every night after dinner and whenever the urge to binge strikes. It's actually been helping me a lot - today will be day four of not…
  • Yes, my wrist hurt a little during the first exercise (the pushups) but nothing too bad.
  • I'm still participating, although I have had to make some serious modifications due to ankle pain. Has anyone else experienced this? I am an avid runner so I am used to high impact activities, but for some reason these exercises have caused my left ankle to hurt A LOT. Glad to hear you're all still going strong. Level two…
  • How has this been going for you? Have you found that not logging your food has helped you to feel less deprived? Personally, this has been a BAD week for me. I have binged four times. My new strategy is to journal every night after dinner in order to work through my urges to binge and attempt to stave them off. I am so…
  • Welcome, Sparks! I can relate to binging after recovering from anorexia. It is so hard going from strictly controlled eating to feeling out of control! I'm glad to hear that you're doing better these days :)
  • Today was day 10 for me (11 counting the day I skipped). I have been doing level two for the past four days and while it is killer, it is getting easier each day. I have been using five pound weights and I'm considering moving up to ten pounds. My back has been sore but my arms haven't, which makes me think I need to up…
  • Hi everyone. I also had a bad weekend and am getting back on track this week. I am holding off on weighing myself until Friday because I know the scale is probably up and I don't want to get discouraged. Sorry to hear that so many of you also binged this weekend. The weekends are TOUGH!
  • I am on day seven ( I skipped Sunday because my back was hurting and I didn't want to injure myself). I just started level two, and MAN is it hard! The cardio portion used to be a nice break, but some of those cardio moves are harder than the strength! Congrats to everyone for making it this far. Keep up the good work!
  • I agree! I also completed day 5 today and it's amazing how much stronger I feel. My boyfriend even commented that my abs feel more toned :)
  • What weights are you all using? I just did day four today using 10 lb weights because that's all I have, and I'm worried I'm straining too much.
  • To those who asked how many calories this burns: I have been logging it as "circuit training, general" for 20 minutes. Does this sound right?
  • Hi everyone! I just started the program two days ago (my arms are SORE) but just found this group and thought I'd join! I am 6 ft tall, 144.5 pounds, and my goal weight is 139.
  • On an unrelated note, does anyone know why my weight tracker only shows whole and not half pounds? As of yesterday I was down 4.5 pounds, but my tracker only shows a 4 pound loss. I've noticed that other people's statuses will update with as little as a .2 pound loss, but mine does not.
  • Hi Mollie! I am sorry to hear that you had a rough November. What is an IOP Eating Disorder Program? Let us know how weight watchers goes! I have never tried it but hear great things from others. I like the idea of not having to count points, but sometimes I use the freedom of trying to focus on when I'm hungry to overeat.…
  • @emariec78, I am so sorry to hear about your experience at work. Do you think she said that because sometimes you skip meals at work to make up for a binge? I have had people accuse me of not eating before when I was compensating for a binge, and in my head all I could think was "if you only knew how much I ate last night,…
  • First, congrats on two weeks! That is awesome! I hope you were able to stave off a binge this afternoon. I agree, it is hard to distinguish between being hungry and simply wanting to binge. But hunger definitely exacerbates the problem, so maybe try to eat something healthy and filling and then get out of the house to…
  • Hi everyone. Thank you for letting me be a part of this group! Here is my story. Like many of you, I have struggled with self esteem and body image issues for as long as I can remember. Finally, in high school, I decided to do something about it and began eating less. Things spiraled out of control and I became anorexic.…
  • Mollie and Crystal - I'm so sorry to hear you both had bad days yesterday. One thing I'm thinking of trying is to log in here and post the next time I feel a binge coming on. Maybe you could try that next time? I'm thinking the distraction and pausing to really think about what I'm doing might help me resist the urge. Hugs…
  • Glad to hear everyone's week is going well so far. And Richie, welcome to the group! I just joined as well. I also have not binged this week. I think it's because I'm taking a new approach to weight loss. I realized that I was restricting my eating too much during the week, and getting hung up on the numbers on the scale.…
  • I wish I had the answer to this, too. One trick that sometimes works for me is to pause for a moment and list the reasons why I want to binge. For example, tonight after dinner I was really tempted to binge. I stopped and had a dialogue with myself where I listed all the possible reasons why I would want to binge: because…
  • I was a vegetarian for 15 years and just quit last winter. This will be my first Thanksgiving eating Turkey! As other posters have suggested, START SLOW. I got sick when I first added fish back into my diet. I started with about four ounces of meat per week for a couple of weeks, and then worked my way up. I still don't…
  • I have wondered the same thing, actually. Given your description, I would venture to guess that you're "lightly active" rather than "sedentary." I imagine chasing after kiddos all day (and standing up to cook, etc.) are analogous to the nursing/salesman activities listed in the description of "lightly active." I think…
  • I'm also working on this. It's HARD! I agree with the poster who suggested staying away from sugar substitutes; not only are they bad for you, but they increase your cravings for sweet foods and can lead to overeating. I have been buying stevia-sweetened soda and allow myself one a day. Other than that, the only sugar I'm…
  • I also struggle with binge eating. It's a huge source of frustration for me and I have yet to figure out a way to stop! I think that a large part of it, for me, is mental. I have somehow trained myself to react to certain situations by binge eating. And even though I hate myself while I'm doing it (and even more the next…
  • HI Bookdame! Your story sounds just like mine. I am also in the bay area, and have a similar overachieving personality. I had an eating disorder back in high school (anorexia) and after lots of treatment I was able to overcome it. However, I still deal with body image issues (I don't want to be super skinny again, just…
