  • i am about ,4 into the healthy number now --the bmi is a tad misleading because it doesnt take into account age--i reached the mid of healthy before last summer and drew nothing but bad comments from people i saw regularly and those who hadnt seen me for a long time--it also aged me about 10 years because my features were…

  • Thanks for your reply-it confirmed what i was thinking! i was last 11stone back in 1994-i am now 11 5 i think( i have a picture from then and i thought i looked well proportioned then) but obviously the aging process has 'thickened' my frame. i am wearing medium clothes comfortably now which was the case back in…
  • i do exactly the same but always hit my 2lbs a week target--i am 164lbs and my daily allowance is 1200--the system sets a minimum allowance of 1200 but for women that is a high number--based on your bmr and size you may need to manually override the system--i know its not recommended--i have my secretary set on 900 cals as…
  • i have a soup of an evening and it fills my stomach--and stops me wanting anything else!
  • my wife was like that when i joined this site and started dieting. i stuck to the regime and lost a load of weight while she continued to blossom! Now she has joined here and is exercising and dieting in competition with me!--she said to me this morning that ' this is the first time i had been right about anything'(i wish…
  • i know nowt about it but would gentle yoga aid with breathing difficulties--i can imagine swimming being quite severe on the lungs if done in any meaningful manner! İ just thought i used to do tai chi and that is gentle movement and the instructors who are proficinet have great strength and stamina--the very old chinese do…
  • i have learnt to just weigh once a week at the same time-for me it is monday morning--i have learnt that i can vary about 2 to 3 lbs through the week for the above reasons--its a waste of time trying to weigh every day!
  • i went to that link but on the same page there was an actual equation---i followed it through and it came to 847 calories which is about 150 under the machine reading so i think more accurate and plausible--it was very long and was actually a posting on this site but i dont know how to do links --the question was asked by…
  • why thank you--i feel a bit deflated today though because overnight despite not eating my calories and exercising i have gone up in weight!-teach me not to weigh myself every day.--i hope its just the extra water i am drinking! --i did get down to 150lbs last spring and i was drinking loads of water then so i must have…
  • İ'm in for a start on friday--my starting weight is 168,5 and i will be happy if i reach 163 to complete my goal so its a big push!
  • i wore it for 24 hours just to see what kind of rate my heart was going at during(stressful) lessons--i think it toped out at 92bpm! and what kind of cals i used!--actually over the time spread it was quite close to my bmr added to my exercise program! i will just use it during exercise as i have proved my pointless…
  • i am not sure they do ones just with wrist watches--they have a band reading the heart while the watch displays the data--hence a heart rate monitor!!
  • this is going to sound silly--but what are the rules?!!--i can do about 5k on the treadmill at a medium jog amongst loads of fast walking up gradients!--i do about an hour a gym visit on the treadmill approximatyely 3 times a week--25k would mean i would do more visits!
  • as a kid i was brought up on quaker oats but now i live in a place where i cant obtain them and was wondering how i could make 'porridge' with the raw oats i can get hold of here--as a side i was told by my doctor i have slightly raised cholesteral and oats are an ideal 'remedy so it has a serious edge!
  • i have lived away from the uk for several years and have happily converted to kgs--they are a lot less fiddly and the scales are easier to read --i just convert to lbs on this site now --i wish we could loose the lbs!!
  • i stopped all coffee for 6 months while i dieted down to my goal weight but once i hit my goal i started drinking it again and it was the crack in the dam that opened the gates to all the bad old habits-for me i need to be strong willed or it all goes wrong--coffee then alcohol and then chocolate follow--psychologically if…
  • İm 5 9--163lbs now but i was 152lbs at the end of june--the 11lbs i have put on must be purely fat because i stopped going to the gym and had a long over-indulgent summer(as teachers tend to)--at 152lb i am at pure lean with little body shape--my shoulders and chest narrowed, i was measure by a scanner at my gym on my…
  • Eveunderground hit the nail on the head when she talked about composition of body--the dieting left me thin and without my 'muscle' shape--i know its not muscle because i have regained the shape by putting on the 5kgs without any gym work--just a shape people seem to find more appealing-when i was 34 there was definate…
  • maintenance is 2100 the system reduces to 1600 to loose 3500 calories a week to loose 2lbs --if your loosing at such a high rate you could be in starvation mode but takes some doing because i got by on about 800 calories with a goal rate on here of 1200 and i never lost muscle--but we are all different!!

  • i was happy at 70kgs 13 years ago- i had an excellent picture taken of myself on the beach playing volleyball so i yearn for that weight--the dietician just re-enforced this target.---i just cant stop putting the lbs on around my stomack--even water and cups of tea seem to blow me up!!--does the skeleton continue to evolve…
  • i am definately a marathon type--even paced and endurance--the only time i get lower than my 70kgs is by excessive gym work and not eating back the calories--the gym work is lots of cardio but not sprints. As soon as i stop that regime i go back to the natural weight and i am feeling all the hard work is a little pointless…
  • i was offered a ft11 for a price that i thought was too much for my requirements--120 dollars new--i live outside the uk and usa so things arent as readily available or cheap as those markets.--i liked the look of the watch and if it tells the time a decent watch here can cost a big percentage of 120 dollars!!! -be…
  • i had better not refer to the wife's tattoos as 'tramp stamps' i would be sleeping on the sofa for a long time!!--still not heard of recommendations for colourings on a fairly white englishman--we never see the sun!!
  • its new -by its high number(11) i would presume it is all 'singing and dancing in its functions ? do you use them all or are they just gimicks?
  • i lose a lb a week on 1467--i am 154lbs and on my target weight--it does work quite well --i was on 1200 for 5 weeks and that was too extreme and left me wanting but it did lose me the 2lbs prescribed---its knowing when to stop and not stopping til you are aiming for ultra low BMİs!!--my outset bmr was 1697 but it lowers…

  • 1508 is your bmr if you stay in bed all day--basically just breathing(and snoring)--general activity will take this bmr up to 2008-500 is adjudged the daily average--so by eating your 1400 calories you are losing about 600 cals a day x 7 days a weekis 4200 --a lb of fat is 3500 cals so its roughly correct

  • lasik is something i have to explore--if by lasik you mean the eye sight ops--i am at the stage in life when my lenses are stiffening it seems and i need to get a check up done soon because i would have difficulty seeing the right tat in a ill lit salon with my current glasses--years ago they said once you get to a certain…
  • i have trouble equating things like dried almonds and olives with fat content--i live in a country where nuts are a regular provider of protein due to the heat and cost of meat--its disportionate to the rest of costs of living meat so people tend not to include it in their diet--nut and olive shops are on every street…
  • i was always led to believe peanuts (and butter) were empty calories--i know i got really fat on eating peanuts over a prolonged period--it depends if you are using the gym to aid a diet or produce muscle i suspose but i cant see much value in them!-i only eat unroasted almonds now but even they have hidden fat
