I would love to be below 90 kg by then but the weight loss has slowed down a fair bit although I do still look slimmer week by week. Hi all, I've used MFP for 10 years fairly consistently and have seen good progress, I lost a little fat and gained a reasonable amount of muscle in my late 40s. I'm 10kg heavier than when I started 10 years ago but a much better shape. The last few months have seen me slip back a bit with injuries but I'm recovered now and…

At 50 I’ve struggled to build muscle and lose weight but after a few years I’ve got down to 14% body fat, fairly muscular and looking quite good for an old boy. But I still have a blob of belly fat left centred around my belly button that will not shift. So today I am going to have the fat frozen! I will do before and…

Hi all, I've been using MFP on and off for 6 years now, I've just turned 50. I started here to help with losing some belly fat and to track my protein intake as I had started weight training. I work hard at the gym and I have become stronger and fitter than I have ever been, lost a fair bit of fat and grew a little muscle,…

Less muscle than PeeWee Herman but classic. My '78 Volvo 66

I'm in! Sept 2017 is my 50th too.

Yes! I want to build a bit more muscle before my 50th next year. It seems to me that clean eating and high protein are as important as weight training, I'm using a 3 day split with mostly body weight exercises and a bit of dumbbell work thrown in, cardio is a 5k run every other day.

5 years in, I'm seeing good progress with a whole body recomp, nearly 50yo and in the shape of my life, open diary. Old friends have slowly given up or dropped away so motivated new ones required.

I'm all over this, I'll see your slightly furry carterpillars and raise you a mono brow!

It's probably tendonitis, I had it early on when I started lifting. Rest then heavy forearm exercises before going back to bicep exercises when ready. Zottmann curls help avoid this if you incorporate them into your workout, they're great for bicep and forearm.
-
I've been here a while, still trying hard to get to my goal but nearly there. Open diary and I log daily, motivated friends wanted to replace the ones who have fallen by the wayside.

First ever 6 pack by Christmas at 48 years old! Damn close and really on it at the gym and on the diet.

Don't worry, its what you do next that matters. I'm working hard to undo my regression over the summer.

Chantix ( Champix here in the UK) is not going to make you put on weight, only eating more to suppress cravings will do that. Giving up smoking is the hardest thing I ever did, it definitely screws with your body for a while. The great news is that everything WILL return to normal after a while and you will feel so well…

47, 2 years into my journey. I started as a a fat weakling who smoked 30 a day, who puffed and panted after a flight of stairs. Now slimmer, much stronger and fitter and charging full pelt towards my long term goal of "Thor by 50!" Committed friends needed, the ones from earlier have fallen away and give up..
-
47 and been on it for about two years now. Thor by 50!

Spot on!

Every other day, I couldn't recover quickly enough for every day. Cardio before and after weights and the occasional cardio only day thrown in when I have time.
