Almost 4 years. Lost 113 over the first 2 years. Then I took a 1.5 year long diet "break" and regained 6 lbs. Got back on the wagon in January and have lost those 6 plus another 9. 122 down. 12 lbs to goal. Gonna get there eventually!

At 5' 8", the "ideal" weight charts show a range of 138-164.4 lbs for a woman. That's a 26.4 lb swing. My goal has been 160, but maybe I need to adjust that lower. How depressing. :(

Hi all! I've been reading the thread and am awed by how well you're doing in the Summer challenge. Congrats to all participating! I used to be a regular in this thread until a couple years ago when I decided to take a diet "break". That lasted 2 years. But, I only regained 6 lbs (of the 113 I lost) during my break so it…

I think a break is a good idea both physically and mentally. Just don't do what I did. I lost 113 pounds a couple years ago and took a break intending it to last a few weeks. 2 years later I finally am back to working on the rest. The good news is that my post break weight was only 6 lbs above my lowest dieting weight. But…

Spot on. We've all probably been the lucky receipients of someone else's diet manifesto. People who have been or are being successful losing weigh sometimes want to believe they have all the answers. They do, but those answers are theirs and not universal. Whenever someone claims that some style of eating is necessary for…

Can you go to the gym on the days your hubby does not? That way you get equal time to yourself to focus on your health. I know from experience that some husbands need a "nudge" to realize their wives need time too. My kids are grown and on their own and we still had to negotiate about who gets to walk alone and who has to…

I rarely eat ice cream, but when I do I want a decent size serving. Not the measly 1/2 listed on the carton. I had an entire pint of Halo Top the other day. For lunch. At 280 calories I cured my ice cream craving for the foreseeable future and still got plenty of protein. Win!

I completely agree that the Haagen Daz tastes better. But at 332 calories for 1/2 cup of salted caramel it's too many calories for too little ice cream. I'd rather have 4 times as much for 280 calories when an ice cream craving strikes. And there's something very satisfying about eating the whole darn pint. Feels like a…

Have you tried Halo Top ice cream? Many flavors have just 240 calories in a PINT. And they have 25g of protein. To me, some of the flavors (like chocolate) have a weird texture due to the protein powder, but others (like lemon) do not. My fave is the Salted Caramel and at 280 calories for the pint makes a dandy dinner…

Hi Everyone! I'm a past active poster on this thread back to try and drop the rest of my excess pounds. I started on MFP back in June 2013 and as of August 2014 lost 114 lbs. Since then I've managed to keep most of it off (currently up 7 lbs from my lowest weight), but I haven't lost all I want. So I'm back to try and rid…

Well, it's official. DHs company filed Chapter 11. Supposedly there are multiple bidders to buy the business when they emerge from bankruptcy in 120 days. No telling what effect this will have on the short or long term other than as a long term employee (33 years), his pension took a 250-300k hit. So much for the many…

Thanks to all for your kind words about DH's job and pension. Don't know any more today than we did yesterday. The company wide conference call was postponed until today. DH suspects that they will declare Chapter 11 (reorganizing bankruptcy) and perhaps a sale to a competitor or equity firm. Right now he's less concerned…

@mnwalkingqueen - Holly, so sorry about your job. I know how scary and stressful that can be. I hope something even better is in store for you. AFM - Doing fine food and exercise wise. Stress level is awful. DHs company is likely declaring bankruptcy today. No clue if he'll have a job at the end of today or not. I do know…

@skinnyjeanz - Every time I hear "stomach flu", I flash to Emily Blunt's character in The Devil wears Prada when she says "I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight". Not at all the way to go for weight loss, so I hope you're feeling better. AFM - After my pity party yesterday when my weekly weigh in only netted .6…

Perfect week food and exercise wise and a lousy .6 of a pound lost. I'm disappointed, but I will PERSEVERE. I just wish I hadn't let myself go to the point that I'm worried about my spring clothes being uncomfortably tight. Why oh why do I do this to myself?

@susan - Isn't having a middle schooler fun? Except for that part where they tend to be so flaky from day to day. Just a suggestion from my experiences with mine: Be very clear and explain to Cyrus what you expect as far as his school work is concerned. Lay out what the consequences will be if he fails to meet your…
