  • 3 sets of 10 is the basic rule for weight training. What is it your actually doing and what are your goals?
  • If its just man flu then sweat it out. If its real flu contact your GP ;)
  • Personally, intervals are the way forward, i sprint for 60 secs and rest for 30. I use a treadmill at the gym but the same process can be applied to the outside world. Find a nice hill, sprint up, walk down, lather, rinse, repeat.
  • I'd put it down to a lack of disciplin and boredom.
  • Sure, muscles are built by tearing the muscle fibres and allowing them to rebuild, but focus on different areas and muscle groups on different days and that will allow the groups your not working to heal up.
  • Just to play devils advocate, but it might have been a particularly ill fitting dress? Perhaps it didn't suit her body shape? Perhaps she had been giving him a hard time and he said it out of spite? I think people who are telling her to dump her fella are not looking at the long term, one comment is not reason for ending a…
  • BMI is a nonsense anyway. If you were a 5 foot 3 bodybuilder it would call you obese, it takes no account of muscle size and only goes on total weight.

  • I don't think you can give a time for when you should or shouldn't eat food. Everyones body and routine is different. Your body also doesn't "slow down", if I was to go to the gym at 1900 I could easily argue that my body would speed up.
  • While that may be technically true from a survival standpoint we are not talking from a survival standpoint. The OP was asking if carbs are "really important" simple answer is yes, they are really important. OP followed up by asking if her diary showed her to have excessive carb intake, simple answer no. If you want to…

  • Carbs are essential. They are the fuel that your body uses to function, especially things like pasta, potatoes, spaghetti etc, these are all idea sources of carbs. Looking back at your diary I see nothing wrong with your carb intake. Some people will swear by a low carb diet but I could never do it, I need the fuel from…
  • Nice work, I did my first competitive 5k on Tuesday, was a great feeling to be running with other people in a semi competitive environment.
  • Its pretty irrelevant as it would say a 5 foot 4 body builder was obese which is obviously not true. I tend to ignore it.
  • Edinburgh here :)
  • Personally I force down a 40g Porridge Oat Bar while im on the bus and wash it down with some Jack3D to give me some carbs and a helluva lot of caffeine, perfect for that 0600 workout
  • Work different muscle groups then you can avoid taking too much time off resting while still giving the muscles time to recover. Also if your doing a heavy workout be sure to have something like a protein shake or a high protein meal ASAP after your workout. The 30 mins after your workout are critical to the repair of…
  • Recovery XS from Myprotein. Take it after every workout and feel so much better for it.
  • This! I look like a tit struggling at level 15 while the lass next to me is flying along at level 1
  • I agree with pretty much everything, just to add a couple... -People who blow dry their pubic hair with the hair dryer in the changing room, I mean seriously WTF?!? - People with terrible technique when lifting weights/using machines, I would never go and tell them but it aggravates me for some reason.
  • This has proved to be inaccurate at best and a complete falsification at worst. There is very little stand out scientific evidence to suggest that eating small meals more frequently increases metabolism. Do a search on this site and you will find this discussed at length. As far as starvation mode goes it takes MONTHS of…
  • Pray tell what is wrong with supplement shakes? You will find plenty of them in my diary as I believe that they are a necessity for muscle growth and recovery after a gym workout.
  • I just got on a treadmill and went till i couldnt put one foot in front of the other anymore. Eventually it built up and built up and now its second nature to run for 45 mins etc.
  • Get a new scale and start from scratch with weekly weigh ins. Dont use a different scale after this, even if you get weighed at your doctors use your own scale for your weigh ins.
  • Hello from a fellow Edinburgh resident. Cardio is your friend, a friend who hurts you and mistreats you, but still. Its the most effective way to shift weight, kettlebells are all well and good for toning muscle but you wanna be hitting cardio hard. Run, cycle, badminton is good too, plenty of high intensity stuff. Are you…
  • If your in the UK then you can buy them from ARGOS, they do home delivery as well.
  • I do my weigh ins at night. I think if I do it in the morning after going to the bathroom it is kinda a false weight as I'm starving and completely empty. So by doing it at night after all meals etc have been eaten for the day I think it gives a more realistic impression. Thats not to say weighing in the morning is wrong,…
  • Im about 185-189 when i finish my cardio, I'm still alive... I think,
  • Awesome, did 3 sets of 20 in the gym this morning, so I'm in and done lol.
  • “The only reason men are just friends with women is because that’s all she’ll allow” I think that may have hit the nail on the head. At least for most of the guys I know that aren't in relationships anyway.
  • 3 sets of 40 done and starting to feel it now. 120/220
