fitbit flex is also good! I've had mine since xmas, it sends you weekly emails to show your progress which i really like! Its fun, i think data is motivating, you can see which days you need to move more, and i really like it.. i think either is fine, just up to your preference.

I had similar knee problems, my physio said it was because my other leg muscles -glutes especially were weak. I have keen doing exercises to increase the strength and flexibility of those muscles NAND have had no problem since.

Yes i usually do foam rolling for my IT bands, but mainly before/after lifting - like dead lifts, i don't always do it for running... Who would be the right kind of person to examine my knee? A physiotherapist?
