  • I always said I didn't want kids (ok - always as in when I was in high school). Having my sister and her baby boy live with us made me the live-in babysitter, and I was just a preteen/teen who didn't want to be raising my nephew. (I do love my nephew, by the way - more like a brother since I was so young when he was…
  • LOL! Too funny!
  • Smooth Move tea. Works well!!!
  • I love pizza - haven't ever had one I didn't like! I agree - in moderation is fine (although I'd probably eat it once or twice a week if I could!!) I just make sure it fits into my calories for the day, and don't worry about it beyond that. Enjoy!!
  • I found I was the same way if I gave them up altogether. I've now decided that I have to have them in moderation, and the only way for me to do that is to account for them. I actually figure out my daily food intake for the day around lunch, and I take into account wanting some ice cream or chips or whatever. If I do this,…
  • I was just wondering that. I tried to comment on "Jill"'s negativity, and it said it was locked. :(
  • I agree!! Just sad that we have to be bombarded with negativity for our choices. Thanks for the new thread!!
  • Smooth Move tea the night (6-12 hours) before - that stuff works for sure!!!
  • *Bump* Just thought I'd bump this for any new 30-somethings that are around!! :drinker:
  • My neurologist told me not to worry about aspartame because tomatoes have more aspartame in them than a diet coke. This is when we were trying to figure out my migraines. She said they've ruled aspartame out as a cause for migraines and many other things, too. So, I'm sticking with my diet coke. There are worse things in…
  • I'm so glad to see so many people on here who are trying or have tried this, and have positive remarks. The negative criticism is going to happen regardless because people don't understand how it works (never bothered to read it). I have to admit that I gave a co-worker the same "that's not safe" speech when I first heard…

  • I know the feeling! I started in January of 2009, and lost a little, worked out faitffully until early summer. Things got busier and I just kind of stopped doing everything - the exercise, tracking what I ate - everything. Gained it all back!! So, a month ago, I decided to try again, too.
  • LOL!! That just might get my hubby to exercise with me!!!
  • You can definitely do this...you've already identified your personal obstacle - food. And you know how to change it. Just remember you're doing this for you - so that you can look in the mirror and tell yourself "You ARE beautiful." No matter how many times someone else says it (though it is definitely nice to hear) you…
  • I'm no expert, but I think doing stairs pretty much engages all your legs muscles, including the calves. I don't know that you would have to add anything extra to get more exercise for your other leg muscles. I konw even doing my eliptical I feel the calf burn by the time I'm done. If you want something extra that doesn't…
  • You're not alone - I feel the same way. I feel like I should be able to see some difference somewhere, but don't. :brokenheart: But...I do know that I'm getting healthier, and that eventually it will be noticeable. I decided when I started that I wasn't in a hurry to lose weight, that I wanted to do it right, so I guess if…
  • I had it for lunch today, too, and it wasn't that bad calorie-wise. I guess it depends on the meal, but 1 cup of sesame chicken and steamed rice isn't that bad. I mean, I couldn't do it every day, but a 500 cal. lunch when I'm working my butt off in the garden and the rest of my day wasn't bad, so I don't feel guilty at…
  • I love kung pao chicken! Thanks! :flowerforyou:
  • I just bought the chocolate because my neurologist said I needed to take in more protein (I guess that somehow helps migraines?). I like the flavor, and the amount of protein (26g/big scoop) really helps me get my daily requirements, but I've never had anything like that before, either. I'll be interested to hear any…
  • I've used these sites to get lots of different exercises, as well as lots of great info: http://www.strength-training-woman.com/strength-training-exercises.html (I actually went through and printed all the exercises on here and made a booklet out of it for handy reference when I'm working out - otherwise when I'm trying to…
  • Thank you!!! That makes so much more sense. My HRM tells me I'm at 90%+- when I'm on my elliptical, but I feel closer to 80% - and if I go at a lower pace, I feel like I might as well be sitting :grumble: . I'm glad to hear that working out at a higher rate is still going to burn fat (in the long run) because I can't stand…
  • I know what you mean - I'm 31 and I have a 11 1/2 yr-old-boy and a 7-yr-old girl. I know I've still got lots of baby-makin years left, but geez. I love babies and kids - and I do miss my kids being little-little  , but now that ours are to the point where you can just say "eat", "go take a bath", "go to bed", "get in…
  • No...but just imagine having the self-worth that you have now at 21. Life would've been a lot easier. I really only want the body that I had when I was 21... :blushing:
  • Well...I'm losing weight but not inches... man our bodies are just evil!:grumble:
  • Nothing bad about that - 40 is the new 30! (Which means 30 is the new 20, meaning I'm 21 all over again! Yes!!!!):drinker:
  • Whoo-hoo! Happy Birthday! (I'd sing, but trust me, no one wants that!) Cheers on your b-day :drinker:
  • If so, probably half this country is bad! :drinker:
  • Just did - in the motivation section... Maybe I should have called it the 30-Something Kittens Thread?
  • Okay...I was reading the thread about "don't let exercise trick you into overeating", which got hijacked and turned into a bathing suit thread, and CodyKitty requested someone start a 30-something thread. So...here it is. I was happy to see that 30 is still considered young. I hope 31 is still close enough to 30 to…
  • If that's not your typical day, I would probably count it for exercise instead. If you did it at least 3 days a week, you'd probably have to go in and adjust your lifestyle, but as it is, I'd leave it alone. And then maybe you'll feel better if you eat more calories - your body probably needs them. Of couse, this is just…
