  • Some great ideas, thank you all so much! I should have been clearer about what access to things I'd have, I'll be able to set up my fridge in the garage, and I have a microwave, kettle and mini camping oven, but I won't have a hob or big oven to be able to bake much. Defo some fab ideas here to get me prepared before they…
  • Having had success in the past by logging on MFP, I personally found Noom not as useful. It was rubbish as a logging tool, so I was using it in conjunction with MFP. I found the daily quizzes and education fun at first, but they quickly became annoying and the tone of voice was quite patronizing. The "coach" seemed like a…
  • Hey, I'm from Edinburgh, anyone's welcome to add me :)
  • I'm in a similar boat, lost a bunch of weight using MFP a few years ago, and now gained it back after a total change lifestyle (and an injury) and trying to get back on track. Always happy for friends so anyone can feel free to add me :)
  • Hey, vegan for 4 months after being veggie for 28 years. Been logging on here for 3.5 years, trying to shift about a stone after gaining a bit when I stopped running. Always happy for new friends on here!
  • I've been logging in for about 4 years now, feel free to add me if you'd like :)
  • Hey, former fatty, turned former skinny runner, turned fatty again. Back on the wagon and getting back into running again. I'll drop you a request, anyone is welcome to add me too!
  • Hey, I've been on here for about 4.5 years - logging in consistantly, but only logging food on and off in that time. I lost about 30lbs at the start, kept it off for about a year, then gained it again. I'm now trying to lose it for a second time. It defo helps to have friends to motivate you, I'll drop you a request!

  • I lost around 30lbs a few years ago and gained it all again. I'm trying to shift it again. Feel free to add me!
  • Thanks all! I keep hearing this theme that the points are crazy high for some things, and hard to work out. It wasn't like that when I went, it was points, but you could pretty much work them out based on rough calories. I've heard some people say it's fab, and others say that they struggled to lose - or gain too!…
  • Hey all, I've been on here for 4 years, lost a bunch of weight, maintained for a while, then gained. I'm now trying to lose again. Feel free to add me, always happy to have more people on the journey with me!
  • Have you recalculated your TDEE now that you've lost weight? Might be a really obvious question and you likely have, but if you've lost weight then your body doesn't need as much energy to move around anymore, so you need to recalculate regularly to stay on track.
  • If you want to "clean" up your diet, its easiest to stick to whole foods like fruit, veg, meat, fish, nuts etc. Personally I'd still eat dairy to get calcium too, just less processed stuff like plain Greek yogurt and good quality cheese. It doesn't need to be expensive if you look at the offers in the shops, and you can…
  • You wont get a massive calorie burn, but yoga or pilates would be a gentle work out which wouldn't break too much of a sweat. A good tutor can explain how to adapt moves or find alternatives if there's any you can't manage. Pilates is often used as physio, so could be really beneficial.
  • I second the Health app, already built into your phone and so long as you can keep your phone on you when you're working, it's ideal. Pretty accurate and saves you buying anything new. I had a fitbit but I just didn't think it looked that good so it put me off wearing it all the time.
  • Totally right. So many people I speak to give up after a few weeks when they don't see a difference. The time I made the most progress overall was the time it took the longest to do but I just kept plugging on. More people need to read this.
  • I'm in Edinburgh. Hit target last year (was 151 down to 126, 5'2) and been maintaining since, though I'm now trying to focus on better quality nutrition and fat loss. Feel free to add me :)
  • Since I got fitter, I defo sweat more. I never used to sweat at all but it's like my body is more efficient at it or something now. Perhaps it's just that? Or have you always been fit?
  • If your doctors have given you advice around fitness, have they not given you advice on your diet? Sounds like a question for the professionals.
  • Focusing on macros is a good way of optimising health, though not necessary for weight loss as such. However, I add Greek yoghurt (much higher protein than natural), dried edamame as a snack (amazingly high in protein for the calories), cottage cheese, nuts and eggs to my diet to try and find a good balance now that I'm…
  • Firstly, seeing your weight loss as a "diet" and then going back to your old ways is pretty much certain to put everything you've lost back on. I've been there before, and yoyo'd for years before finally realising that healthy eating and moderation is the only answer. The low iron thing is a seperate issue, you can either…
  • I used to over estimate burns by going with what it said on here, and guess at cals. When I got serious, I got a heart rate monitor and food scales. I also switched to aiming for under my tdee rather than the 1200 cals suggested on here. All these things worked for me, I reached my goal weight in a healthy way and I've…
  • I'm 33, 5'1, was 157 at my biggest, now down to 128 which was my intitial target weight. Not got an exact number in mind for where I want to end up, now it's all about how I look and feel, but I've logged every day for over a year and intend to keep going this year! Anyone's welcome to add me.
  • A slice of tomato, some dried mixed herbs, and a tiny bit of grated cheese, it's like a wee crumpety pizza :)
  • I second the heart rate monitor. Numbers on here are averages, so if you've got some massive guys with huge burns in the mix, then little girls like me are never going to hit those numbers. I was shocked at how low my burns were when I wore my hrm at first, but at least I knew exactly what I was dealing with. Totally made…
  • It defo gets easier each time do a video, then harder again each time you face a new one. Haha. But the good thing is, after. The first few times, you know you can make it to the end, so you know you can keep going. I wear a heart rate monitor and log it using that. I'm going to be starting again next week if anyone wants…
  • It really is as simple as calories in versus calories used. If you are honest with yourself, weigh (no guessing) and log everything, you'll get there.
  • I think a lot of people fail 'cause they fall into the trap of thinking they need to live on rabbit food and run marathons to shift weight, but you really don't need to change your lifestyle all that much. If you do, you'll never stick to it. Eat what you fancy, just be aware of calories going in. This means weighing food…
