HI All, I have a medical condition whereby i have an excess of cortisol in my system. It is from long term steroid treatment, and as a result am in adrenal suppression. I therefore have massive typical cortisol excess weight gain around mid section mainly. Gained 6 stone over 2.5 years . I am dieting and exercising now and it is working slowly, but my query is because it is notoriously difficult to loose weight with high cortisol do you think i should be dropping my calories lower to compensate for the role this hormone is playing in my system? or is this likely to put it under more stress?? I've tried to do some research but all i can find is where they say its a bad stress hormone that makes you store fat, and i'm like yeah i know !!! but how to get rid!!! I was just wondering if any of you on here had ever come accross this?? All doctors have said is its ok to do some exercise. great!

If your doctors have given you advice around fitness, have they not given you advice on your diet? Sounds like a question for the professionals.0
