Sounds like bad coaching, which you can get anywhere, in any sport. Maybe you'd like it if you try another box.

June is pretty far away, you've got tons of time to prepare, keep us posted when it's getting close!

I liked Arctic Enema but didn't like getting shocked in the head or trying to get a good jump on Everest.

I'd love to read about your 24 hour ruck once you're done. What's the packing list?

I've tried Fiber One bars... The amount of gas I produced was tremendous. I mean, it went from being funny to almost scary. I'm betting I could have filled a kitchen trash bag like a hot air balloon. I steer well clear of those.

Yep, this is how we are here too.

I wear compression shorts ALL the time working out, otherwise yes, things get in the way and you're just distracting yourself from what you need to do.

For some reason I'm sad for her. She's spending a tremendous amount of energy on this, there really seems to be some mental health issue here.

Yep. I spent 2 weeks so sore it hurt just to roll out of bed and I had to hold on with both hands just to sit on the toilet.

So I guess a barbell push press is just a cheating form of strict press? No? They're legit movements recruiting different muscles in different ways? I see...

The best thing to do is to make a habit of fitness. Set aside time just for that and make it a priority and don't allow yourself excuses for missing. Just start with 3 days a week if you don't already have a schedule. I used to think I had to try to fit my workouts around everyone else's schedule but eventually decided…

Have you already registered? I always register for events way in advance so that my money is already spent, then I feel more obligation and incentive to actually go through with my plans. A Warrior Dash would have been an easier entry level run, but I'm sure you can do it. Even considering it is an accomplishment over the…

Definitely got a message regarding Paleo. I responded with the intent to get some discourse going but never got a response. I really wonder about the psychology of people like this.

Yep, been through that too. I'm down to only water and the occasional adult beverage.

Going to have my daughter watch this tonight.

It's hard enough for me to just cut out white potatoes and grains. I need baby steps.

Most of my friends support my efforts pretty well. It's actually my mom that is against me getting more fit and reducing the amount of extra fat I carry around. I dunno why she worries, I've never been more fit and healthy in my life.

Reviving this post. I've done a GORUCK Challenge and was wondering if anyone had any questions or if any other members have done one?

You can make the changes you want to see in yourself happen. You just have to want to change MORE than you want to stay the same. You have to want health and fitness more than you want comfort and the chemical rewards that come along with an unhealthy diet. Everyone says "of course I want better health more", but most…

Heavy. It's still discouraging the number of women that fear "getting bulky", even most guys that work out have to work really hard (or cheat) to get "bulky". Take a visit to your local CrossFit gym, just tell them you want to check them out. Watch a class and observe the strong women who aren't bulky or manly looking.

I've suddenly become wary of my high potency omega 3s :( http://mynorthwest.com/11/2312013/Seattle-researchers-confirm-link-between-fish-oil-and-prostate-cancer

Friend 1: You look great, what do you do for exercise? Friend 2: I lift weights. Friend 1: That's cool, what do you do for cardio? Friend 2: I lift weights faster.

You don't need CrossFit to handle a Tough Mudder, but if you DO do CrossFit you can definitely do a Tough Mudder. It's more about mental endurance and, for some, overcoming your fears than it is about being an athlete. Definitely do TM with friends though, it's much more fun. It's pretty likely there is a group at whatever…
