I was anemic before surgery, but never to the point that I needed meds. Since surgery, I am no longer anemic......maybe because of multivitamin? But, I do have a friend who was told she could not do surgery because her iron levels were so low--low to the point that she has to have infusions 2x/year.

I did not keep a secret, but I have a very close family so they all knew. BUT, I did not announce on Facebook at all. People are not as judgemental when they do find out as I had thought they would be, but also agree when others say what is right for one, not always the same for another.

Premier Protein Shakes are pretty good---I usually don't like chocolate, but that is the shake I like. I did not care for the vanilla and the strawberry tasted very similar to the vanilla. As for vitamins........my nut. reccomends Flinstones Vitamins Complete (4 a day)-they are not bad tasting, but I have NO idea what Tums…

I have same "problem" as Robin628...had surgery 11/23 and only one period since, and that was very light. I have blocked tubes, so likelihood of pg is very low, though I have been pg once before (had m/c) and bf would be THRILLED if a pg occurred, as would I, but we know we need to wait, and have sooo many factors against…

My surgeon did not require a liquid diet. I had to do 2 weeks of very low carb, and that was all. But.......one person I heard from in our support group did not do what she was supposed to and so she had to be opened up instead of laporoscopically done.....much longer recovery time and more painful overall. You will be…

I used the white meaT canned chicken as well.. Was very easy to add to anything and taste was good. My nut did say many people have a problem with chicken initially....but will go away and will be ok with it.

I had this same question...I was always told the raw weight is the one to use....HOWEVER, when I met with my NUT last week, we had a conversation about this, and she told me that from now on I am to use the COOKED weight of my protein, so I am going to go by what she said. I would say talk to your NUT and see what he/she…

I got advanced to Stage 4 Foods--Soft, pureed!! Dr. said everything was good.....the pain I have while drinking is normal, but told me to take prevacid in the morning with applesauce and that should help. I am so excited to eat something not milky, or creamy....even if I get 2 bites in that will make me happy!!! I started…

Congrats on your date!! I am about a 1week and a half post op. My pain right after surgery was not fun, but by the morning I had stopped using the morphine pump--had very little pain getting up out of bed and moving about (I had RNY). My incisions are healing very well, BUT I am not interested in food at all. I am sooo…

Lots of things got better for me after the first week. Now I can drink with no pain (yay!) and still a struggle to get all protein/fluids in but I make the effort everyday! I am glad things have smoothed out for you as well!
-
I hope all goes well today- we should compare notes later/tomorrow :)
-
I am excited...nervous for "after" the surgery, not the surgery itself. I don't have to do liquid diet, just have to do very low carb...no fun, but the rest of life will be lower than usual carb. You are doing VSG, right?
-
Feel free to add me as well......I am scheduled for RNY on 11/23.
-
Great that everything went well...upward and onward!!! Get rest!!
-
Good luck to both of you!

Glad things went well....

good luck today!!

yes, they definitely do heal fast :)

It amazes me that the Dr.s all are ok with doing surgeries so close-don't get me wrong-I am thrilled that I am holding on to my date, just surprised.
-
Good luck!

We are scheduled same day Tawnykakers!!

I don't have short term disability and my manager knows about my surgery and she is ok with it. The bigger boss knows I am having surgery but not what for. I have told everyone I am going to be back in a week, and may just need shorter days the second week. I can't work from home for my job--there is some stuff I can do…
-
I am curious....I know everyone is different......but I see many people here had mentioned being out for 2-4 weeks. I have a mostly sitting job, and am thinking I will only be out a week, maybe half days the next week? Does that seem reasonable--barring no complications, of course.

My pre op diet is not as strict as most of you. I have to go on ketotic diet (very low carb, high protein). I have to start that 11/9 for the two weeks. Good luck on the start of your pre op diet :)

Thanksgiving is not a big deal for us.....and I am totally ok with missing the meal this year :)

I also wear a size 11, and lately my feet have been swelling, so I sometimes need a size 12 Womens.........and I always have good luck with New Balance.
-
Good luck!!!

Thanks! I am going to do RNY as that is what my dr. recommended........
