  • Bad luck, sounds like you have got a real problem there. Have you mentioned to your Doctor about the problem you had when your son was born? I had a similar problem when my first child was born, the joint moved out of alignment while I was giving birth and it was never put right at the time, I had my legs put in the…
  • :drinker: cheers pdj1220 Shall try and get them to give me some advice but my experience is that they will just say I am doing fine and they don't want to see me again! The physio didn't even want to know........
  • Thanks PDJ1220 Thats where I am at the moment, walking a great deal but not able to do much else. I am 62 and had the op due to extra boney growths that were jamming up the joint. The pain I had before is not there but the pelvis has taken a bit of a shock being straight now instead of very squint! I suppose I am just too…
  • Is there anyone out there who has recently had a hip replacement? I had one of mine done six weeks ago and would love to know how soon I can back to exercising properly to get fit again. At the moment I am doing all the exercises I have been advised to do but expect them to lose interest in me after my six week check up…
  • Well that makes two of us - you passed it on to me today when I needed it. I now see why forgiveness takes away the power, wish I had known it before. Thank all you so much.
  • this is just so true, I try to live by it but need reminding - thank you
  • Thats in my topics now too - thanks
  • I live in the Highlands near Aviemore and in the winter I can't walk outside enough to get the weight off. I bought a treadmill and find it helps over the winter months. It folds up so doesn't take up too much room. Just at the moment it is hard enugh to wade through the snow to the shops!
  • Yep, that sounds like me too. Its more a hot burning taste that I call it but sure sounds the same. I'll try drinking more and see if it has the same effect on me; I have worked out lots this last week and not a pound has shifted. Here's to it!:drinker:
  • :drinker: Well done, keep it up. You'll be amazed how much help you get from MFP.
  • Can't match your miles but I managed to fit in 15 of them today; its been a lovely mild November day in Scotland and I hope to fit in a few more miles before the frost and snow.
  • Thank you for sharing this with us, you have been truly blessed. You will surely conquer this next hurdle, especially with all the help from MFP.
  • I'm pretty good at eating my exercise calories though sometimes I don't quite make it. My frame is average and my target is 150lbs but I hoped to get a couple of pounds under that to allow for "winter weight"! I fear that its the old age thing - I never had a problem losing the extra weight before but now its a mammoth…
  • Thats encouraging, thanks. I thought I ought to be able to raise it higher than that to lose weight. I am fairly tall - 5ft 9ins but I should be about 7lbs lighter to reach my target weight.
  • I am 61, my weight varies between 154 and 159 and I have been on a plateau for many weeks now. :grumble: I have been reading all your comments on HRMs, eating calories burned off etc. and have tried everything. My concern is that I have a resting heart rate between 42 and 47 and when I am exercising at my hardest I only…
  • Your'e right there, I have tried so many ways to lose weight over the last ten years, this site is the one for me; its addictive though!!! I've not only lost the weight but I'm fitter too and if you hit a problem there's always someone out there to help. Here's to your success: drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
  • :drinker: I've just had mine - in Scotland; I had fresh salmon cooked in a light cheese sauce with Jersey Royal new potatoes, peas and runner beans. Yum Yum. Filling but not too many calories.

  • Thanks for that, hope you are right. As you say today is another day AND the start of another week so I am trying extra hard again. An hour in the gym and then the swimming pool, and I will be extra careful to add up the calorie intake.
  • Well done you, that is the best reward, you will work at it even harder now!

  • Help needed........I have been doing so well since I started, got within 7lbs of my target and then hit the plateau; I stuck with it though and apart from the odd "wobble" didn't put any back on..... that is until last week when my resolve disappeared. I had a bad week, a worse weekend, got on the scales today and found I…
  • Well done you, no you shouldn't be worrying. You are right at the point I am aiming for - 147 pounds and the same height; I have seven more pounds to lose and the last seven are always the hardest but at least I feel fitter. Just been out walking for two hours and covered six miles in the beautiful Scottish…
  • I bought a best friend last year, it is a "Scott" and it hasn't let me down yet; I am looking forward to the better weather to ride it more as I came off it on the ice - my own stupid fault!:embarassed:
  • I have been using the powerplate at the gym since the middle of January, I believe it does make a difference but I can't say it is startlingly obvious! It does seem to help the aching joints a bit I think.
  • Welcome to this wonderful site, it has helped me so much. I see we have all the same goals and motivation - well its working for me so it will for you too. :drinker:
  • That is my biggest lesson I have learnt, I really benefit from planning ahead then I can knock off the extra calories if I find I have taken something extra in the middle of the day.
  • I do so sympathise, one of my daughters had Hives (urticaria) the specialist eventually diagnosed that it was an allergic reaction to her own hormones; it became worse every 4 weeks. She definitely retained fluid, at her worst she felt like a water filled balloon. Thankfully she is now free of it. Hope you have good…

  • Thanks for that, no doubt you are both right, I just don't want to find I put a whole lot more back on again when I start eating!!
  • My problem is that I have had a flu bug or whatever, felt like trash couldn't eat and was as weak as a kitten. Now I am on the mend but still don't feel like eating ; I don't want to switch off my metabolism by having too few calories but all I am managing is soup and ice cream. Its nearly a week since I had my 1200…
  • :flowerforyou: Welcome to you from Scotland. It has been wonderful for me and I hope you find it is as well. I was so sure I was doing ok - and then I saw what I was really eating and understood why I couldn't lose the weight. You'll do it, keep positive.
  • :drinker: Hi from the North of Scotland, its pretty cold here too. Good luck with the challenge you have hit upon a great site, we can all help each other. ::smile:
