  • I very often don't track food because it's a binge or other reasons. Huge deficits are often misleading. I know that my diet is incredibly screwed up. If I want advice, I'll ask for it. This is why I had my food diary private... Going back to that I guess.
  • No, nothing you said.
  • I commented because the OP wrote: Me personally, 1200 a day without exercise calories works just fine for me, when I'm able to achieve it (normally I'm 1000 or less.) I'd love to hit 1200 regularly. This line suggests that I shouldn't even have joined if I'm not gonna do things the MFP way. That's why I came in here…
  • Me and Utes09 have become great friends and text each other daily... Definitely hope to meet her some day :)
  • I get lectured, chastised, even ridiculed fairly frequently, without asking for advice. I had to make my diary private actually.... Just made it public again yesterday and I've already gotten a nasty comment. So... yeah.
  • Exactly, and this is why we don't appreciate being lectured by all these high-and-mighty MFPers that think they have the right to tell us how unhealthy we're being... It all goes back to my point. If we ask for advice, offer it... Otherwise, worry about yourself because you don't know why a person's eating a certain way.
  • It's true that 1200 calories isn't the magic bullet for everyone, so it's possible you may be able to go lower since you're small, but do give it an honest try for a few weeks. You WILL lose weight on it, because even if you lied in bed all day doing nothing you'd burn more than 1200 calories. To consume more calories…
  • There are other reasons to be here than weight gain, loss, or plain healthy eating. For some people, a net of -200 or so might be a vast improvement.
  • I don't really get why everyone is so concerned with what other people are doing. It would be incredibly rude to go up to an overweight person in a McDonald's and say, you really think you need that Big Mac? And yet that's essentially what people are doing here when they offer unsolicited advice or criticism to another…
  • Yeah, I feel like no one read my post at all... I addressed this. I lost 19 pounds doing it my way (which I'm NOT saying is the only way, it's just the way that worked better for me) Then when I was on maintenance I developed bulimia and gained it back. The three pounds I've lost is within a week of trying to recover from…
  • Thanks everyone for your responses! I'm not going to lie, if I actually thought this thing was going to help me get skinny, I would not be seeking treatment. But so far it's made me gain back everything I lost on MFP (19 pounds). Maybe worse than that, it's destroying me mentally. I can't live like this. ED-people know…
  • QFT - I wish people would understand this!
  • There are tons of us here. Welcome. :)
  • I can't speak for anyone else but the OP didn't really offend me, I just disagreed with him. I've already privately messaged him and we're both fine with each other. Another post on here definitely was offensive though, so it's quite possible my frustration may have been taken out on him, although that wasn't my intention.…
  • Double post, my bad.
  • This this this this this.
  • I lost 19 pounds doing it my way. My point is to each his/her own.
  • And it's not okay to make people guilty for taking a different approach than the one that works for you. Edited for grammar.
  • I hit goal weight doing it that way. Then I developed bulimia and gained it all back, but thanks for that :)
  • This. I, for one, have NEVER had real weight loss on a plan of eating back exercise calories, but have had great success when I've stayed at 1200 and exercised. Everyone is different and I get bothered when people get on here chastising others. What works for one person may not work for another. There are other factors as…
  • Do the exercise! Don't eat if you're not hungry! You can also make those calories up by eating higher-calorie versions of the foods you're already eating instead of eating more, or just eat back part of the calories you burned off. Don't feel obligated to eat just because there are calories left over. Your body knows what…
  • It means so much to me and to my fellow EDers as well to have this kind of support here. MFP seems to me to be largely free from the venom so rampant on the rest of the Internet... Emphasis on "largely" haha. I hope it remains such a safe place.
  • Yeah I just give in to the cravings... It's a normal part of being a woman and I feel like ignoring PMS cravings is just not a realistic long-term plan
  • Thank you SO much for posting this. My calorie goals are hidden because they are under what is "healthy", however I have to FORCE myself to eat that much food because it's more than I usually eat and my body and mind just aren't used to it at all. To whoever made the "babying" comment, that's rather rude. I'm assuming you…
  • Im curious about how other people go about things, so i'd LOVE if you'd answer some Q's for me :) 1. Do you pre plan your days food, or do you just eat as you go and stay within your limits? Eat as I go 2. What is your favorite low calorie desert? Subsititute crepes - take a Melissa's Crepe (50 cals) spread half a cup of…
  • My brother walked into my room, said, "You eat too much, and you're getting fat," and walked out. I' have an ED and he knows it. Not to mention I'm at a healthy weight. :/
  • Kinda shocked, all this time I thought I had BED because I purge only very rarely They want me to start attending their center but I don't know if it's possible with my school schedule because they need me there like 8 hours a day
  • Actually MFP kind of led me to bulimia I was fine for a long time then I dieted the MFP way really successfully and lost a ton of weight... But then I snapped and started binging and it developed into a full-blown ED I went to a rehab center today and for the first time was told I have bulimia nervosa.
  • Ugh don't you hate it when bad things like that happen that are out of your control... Well it sounds like if the HR girl is any indication that all is not lost! Good luck!
