  • Cool down allows your body and heart rate to recover from your workout. Typically in the first minute you should see a heart rate reduction of 30 beats and after 2 minutes you should see a reduction of 50 beats. Heart rate, whether it is warm up, the workout, or cool down, is the key to loosing fat vs. only burning carbs.
  • baked chicken parmesean .... pound out the chicken, dip in egg beaters and dip in a small amount of italian bread crumbs (total of 1/4 cup for 2 breasts). Bake uncovered at 375 for about 20 - 25 minutes. Top each chicken breast with 1/2 cup (or so) of spaghetti sauce (or marinara sauce) and bake for another 5 minutes. I…
  • I usually just sprinkle them with Lowry's seasoning - I made them the other night and they were delicious!
  • Grocery store's usually have bags of frozen and containers of "fresh" near the packaged salads and fresh herbs.
  • Sorry, but I agree with your hubby. I believe if you want to increase the chance of weight loss you need to slow down and extend the time. If you are only looking to increase endurance and burn sugar you can stay at the higher heart rate. Here is one link I found about the 5 heart rate zones ... I am sure that there are…
  • You want to watch the "zone" that your heart rate is in. Typically when you get into the higher ranges you are burning sugar ... not fat. Your BPM sounds REALLY high. An easy way to figure zone 4 - where you start burning sugar vs. fat is to take 200 minus your age or the point where you can no longer breathe through your…
  • I would be more concerned about mental burn out. :noway:
  • This is just my opinion, but that sounds like greed talking. I go to Lifetime Fitness and I met a lady that has lost over 60 lbs from just doing the (free) classes that are offered. It has been pretty amazing to watch her transformation. It is amazing ot see how much her endurance has been built up during this time - in…
  • They do sound a little high. When I was training for my marathon I was eating about 1800/day ... a little more on runs over 13 or 14 miles. I am just over 5'8" and 140 lbs. so size is not too far off either.
  • I am sure that every nutritionist is different. I wento to one, paid a small fortune for an hour, and wound up having her tell me that there really was no advice that she could give me. I took my food journal with me and she said all she could do was recommend that I cut my calories to 1200 .... I was training for a…
  • I believe that you need to be aware of your sugar intake - regardless of where it somes from. I do not eat carbs (i.e. cereal, bread, past etc), and food or drinks with refined sugar, but I do eat a lot of veggies and some fruit and I am ALWAYS over on my sugar. I think that you will be ok ... as long as your sugars are…
  • Toning is the only way to effectively make those areas tighter and smaller. You have very little weight left to lose ... I think that with the correct excercises you could definitley make a noticeable difference in 22 days.
  • I think that the 1 mile is awesome! I think that getting to the 1 mile is the hardest ... after that it is just building endurance. There are several training guides on line that will help you train for the 1/2 - you are giving yourself plenty of time to train. it will be hard work, but great job on putting that goal out…
  • Their mixed grill with veggies instead of the potatoes is pretty low in calories and delicious.
  • I cannot have the carbs so I do not have creeals, granola bars or crackers, but I do have some lunch salads that I love. 1. 4 oz Broccoli Slaw (in the pre-packaged salad area), handful of Nature's Sweet Cherub tomatoes (cut in half), 3 oz. Kirkland grilled chicken breast, 1/2 an ounce of chopped unsalted almonds and 2 TBSP…
  • If you belong to a gym ..... One of the best pieces of equipment in a gym and ironically the least used is the rowing machine. You get a complete body workout (including core), you can set the resistance at a level that you are comfortable with and, while there is knee movement, there is no impact on the knees. A cardio…
  • Keep going! You cannot spot lose, but ab work will tone the area and tighten problem areas. For me I keep carbs under 150/day and also keep the sugars pretty low b/c the more I have the more bloated my stomach looks and feels. Just think about when you are not exercising and not watching what you eat .... you are not doing…
  • I totally agree ... there is typically a pretty big difference between a weight serving and a measured serving.
  • Sounds good, but what is the carb count?
  • I use the actual Stevia brand for about 2 years ... I find it at Vitamin Cottage. I have always loved it b/c it comes in packets and a liquid form.
  • Whew Hew! :flowerforyou:
  • I have always just doubled the uncooked weight for one serving.
  • Welcome! Looks like we are in the same spot! I am new also and have about the same amount of weight to lose!
  • Wii fit has a "game" where you Hula Hoop. With the Wii it senses body movement, so you do not actually use a Hula Hoop, but I will say that the day after just doing the movement I could feel it in my obliques. You might feel silly standing there just doing the motions, but it will work.
  • This is my first week using this site, but I LOVE it! What an easy and accurate way to track food! I lost 14 lbs. January 6th - February 27th and now I am working on those final "stingy" pounds. Friday is my first weigh - in ... . please keep your fingers crossed

  • I love the Hungry Girl recipes! I bought the cookbook a couple months back and really like it. There are some really great "modified" recipes that are lower in calories, fat etc.
  • You did AWESOME! I think that the Biggest Loser leads people that are doing great to feel like they are not doing enough! 5lbs. I awesome ... if I lost 5lbs in a week it would be b/c I cut off an arm or something! Do not get discouraged.
  • Awesome job - congrats! Don't overdue carbs.
  • I have used Bare Minerals for years and love it. Stila and MAC have some good products also, but the majority of what I use is Bare Minerals. If you do not have a skin care product that you use I would recommend Kinerase - it is awesome.
  • I agree with the other posts. No major muscle group should be worked everyday. It would be better to do a more challenging workout every other day or so. There are a ton of ab exercises that you could choose from. If you are doing a variety and doing them correctly you probably would not be able to do them every day b/c…
