I think you should talk to your doctor about your afternoon munchies. It may well be a side effect of the medications you are on. Many of them are known the effect appetite. Also I know you said you've tried lots of tweaks, but just try eating lots of protein for a couple of days, especially in the first third of the day.…

These meds have a different effect on everyone. On Zoloft I found it impossible to keep a deficit and it was a constant losing battle. I've never taken lexapro but at the moment I'm losing weight on cymbalta (which doesn't usually increase appetite). Talk to your doctor when next you see him/her. You might be able to…

What is the sodium content in your meal replacement shakes? You might be holding onto a lot of water if the sodium is high.

I find it hard to weigh and log too, i have two kids and study full time and there's just so much to do and remember all.the.time. that it's just too hard to log consistently. And I feel your pain at not being able to clear the house of "junk" too, the kids eat well and have an occasional treat so why should they have to…

Was that a typo, did you mean to say these are the foods you CAN'T eat?
-
Thanks everyone, yeah i guess a combination of protein, carbs plus lots of fiber is the way to go. I just struggle a bit because there's a string of things i can't eat. Always in the past on diets eggs were my go-to food but I'm now intolerant of them, plus wheat, nightshades, lactose and certain food additives. So no…

It depends on how much you drink and what you eat in the surrounding hours. Alcohol is a toxin so your body prioritizes and digests it first, to get rid of it from your system, so other foods are put on the back burner i.e. stored as fat. Plus it can lead to overeating because of " blood sugar rush then crash" or lack of…

Google "SMART goals " and draw one up for yourself. Then think about your particular barriers and make a plan for how you will beat them eg I'm prone to unhealthy snacking in the afternoon so I now eat 4 small meals to try and ward off the 5pm cravings.

I remember posting something similar on a different forum about 5 years ago and i was ripped apart for being lazy and not trying hard enough! So it's nice to see the positive responses here :) In my case I discovered I was VERY low on iron & vitamin D (low levels leave you feeling fatigued). Plus I found food intolerances…

First step - plan! Make it doable, realistic, something that is within your power to do TODAY. The longest journey begins with one step. Google SMART goals, draw one up for yourself, and have a think about the barriers that you will meet -physical, social, emotional, mentsl - and think of ways to overcome them. Good luck,…

Also check out the "hunger fullness scale" - Im totally disconnected from my natural hunger cues but this is really helpful. My kids eat their dinner but often finish by saying "Mum, I'm full". They know when they've had enough. I need to relearn that.

I don't want to log forever, and I'm a long way from goal too. But i need something to keep me honest and focused. So I'm logging everything but trying to learn rough calorie counts for my favorite foods. My favorite breakfast is 400 cals, a small latte is 150 cals, 2 slices of bread is 200 cals etc. That way I'll soon be…

Sorry to contradict you but meds can most certainly cause weight change. They can effect your metabolism, your appetite, your absorption of food and how your body metabolises and stores nutrients. They can also cause water retention or effect your energy levels or mood so that exercising is more difficult. I don't know…

Hormones can most definitely cause cravings, what we choose to do about those cravings is a completely different matter though. Sugar cravings like the OP is talking about are monster that has no off switch. The more you feed it the more it demands, and it can never be satisfied. I had my monster - I called it PCOS or…

I do the same thing. Next time I get near a big threshold I'm changing my units of measure from kg to lbs and see if that makes a difference.

Ha ha no I have to say I agree, there is little chance of you looking like Kate Hudson :) No offence ;) I can relate to the working hard thing, I tend to be 'all or nothing', on or off the wagon. Its hard to find a middle ground where I have a bit of balance with exercise, eating well and enjoying life. I'm either feeling…

I love how everyone's features are popping out. Awesome work everyone :)

OP I found this thread, thought it might help http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1343719/get-rich-quick/p1

Its OK to have a down day, everyone does. It sounds like you already know what's going on. Goal setting is a great thing to do but it shouldn't be something that forces you into a negative space where it becomes counter-productive and damaging. Give yourself some wiggle room and have a rest, re-assess your goals tomorrow.…

The house is FULL of sweet treats leftover from weekend celebtations - three cakes, pastries, juice, chocolates, dips, crackers, lollies. I just ate lunch and wanted something sweet so I ate an orange.
-
I'm the same, and I had a bad weekend this weekend with two birthdays in the house. Next weekend I'm going to pre-log everything and stick to it. The weekend after there's a big family gathering and I'll have to deal with that too. I'm considering hibernation 2 days out of 7 lol

Watching my 8yo being allowed join the "speed skaters" at the rink. She's only just learned to skate. She was thrilled with herself i tell ya!

Taste.com.au has some collections, i use this website a lot because I often find simple easy tasty recipes there

Apologies :/

Not at all. I think your advice was terrible, you don't, i have no more time to spend on this discussion that's rapidly going nowhere and achieving nothing, the end.
-
Lol! no more than yourself buddy, anyway I've made my point, cheerio ;)

One could argue that common sense would usually lead the *giver* of the advice to adjust accordingly. Did you even bother to look at her profile before you suggested she do something so extreme?
-
Untoward??? Consider this. What if OP is living in a hot climate, has a health condition and takes your advice? Will you be there to pick her up when she collapses on the side of the road? I think not. Be careful about the advice you dish out, people might just take it. Frankly, what you suggested is just dangerous. Sorry…
