  • Congratulations on improving your health. Look back, but don't forget to look forward as well.
  • For me, the beauty of this site is the food diary. Logging food and exercise religiously motivates me by showing me exactly how much cardio it takes to burn off that candy bar or God forbid, soda. Making that correlation might help you with your will power.

  • It is a touchy subject. People may notice well before they will say anything because weight loss/gain is not something we often talk about. I know for me, when I lost about 20 lbs, people began to comment.
  • This may sound a bit harsh, but here goes... Your post is, I suggest, indicative of your problem. You started a thread asking for quick answers to your problem when this site is full of information about how to accomplish your goals. Indeed, the site is designed at its very core to give you the answers. I mean, how much…
  • Find a Master's swimming program in your area and sign up. You will get some coaching, and they have programs for people of all abilities. I did a Master's program several years ago and went from thinking I was going to drown to swimming over a mile during a workout. I even learned how to do a flip turn! Just google US…
  • Awesome! Great job!
  • Years ago I joined a Masters Swimming program. You get some coaching/instruction and the coach gives you workouts to do. Swimming workouts are interval based and the coaches know how to vary the workouts to get the most out of you. It is incredible exercise. You can get some info here http://www.usms.org/ Don't worry about…
  • You look great, congrats! Go Ravens!
  • Are you exercising? I look at the caloric value of whatever is tempting me and think about how much time I have to spend on the elliptical to burn off what I am about to eat. That usually does it for me.
  • "Fat Man" Jethro Tull "I Could Walk 500 Miles" The Proclaimers "There Goes My Heart" The Mavericks "Running Down A Dream" Tom Petty just to name a few.
  • I am 6'4" tall and started at 273 on January 30, down to 238 now. I saw the Doc last week and he agreed that the BMI charts don't work for large framed people. He agreed 225 was realistic for me, although I may try to get down to 215 or so.

  • My advice: Eat whatever you want, but log it religiously. In my experience, seeing the caloric effect of what I am eating keeps me from wanting the bad stuff. Especially when you compare the calories to the exercise it takes to burn them.
  • Does this have anything to do with your screen name?
  • Try some peanut butter.
  • Started Jan 30, joined MFP a little later. Currently down 29 pounds. From March 2011, @ 270 Last Friday, @ 247
  • Definitely do the pictures! I can't tell you how motivating it is to see the difference.

  • There is nothing you can do about yesterday. All you can do is change today. Let your past mistakes go. Dwelling on them only produces guilt, which leads to depression, which leads to overeating. Get a good workout today. Concentrate on what a positive thing a good workout is. Eat healthy today. Enjoy some fruit, and savor…
  • Let me make a mild correction. You don't owe it all to this site. That's like a carpenter saying he owes the house he built to his hammer. This site is a tool. YOU did the work. YOU ate better. YOU exercised. YOU got dedicated to changing your health. It is important to realize that YOU have all the power to make things…
  • Anybody have any idea how many calories I burned reading through the eight pages of this thread?
  • Body glide is a must. You don't want to be the runner wearing the red number 11. http://www.youthink.com/images/2009/09/19/youthinkdotcom_3185100_171636.jpg
  • Don't forget, MFP recommends 8 CUPS of water a day. A 12 0z glass has 1.5 cups. I usually drink two glasses of water in the morning. Three cups. A 16 oz bottle of water has two cups of H2O. Two those during the day and before I get home I have already had 7 cups. I don't even count what I drink from the fountain at the…
  • I have to agree with the morning workout approach. Taking advantage of weekend free time means getting my workout done in the morning. You log your exercise calories first thing, which gives you a little more to play with during the remainder of the day. For me at least, I am reluctant to eat a bunch of junk which I know…
  • Please understand that this is not a "hater" post at all. There are several things about your post that concern me. Eating under 100 calories a day, huge amounts of cardio, "scared" to weigh yourself. Please reconsider your weight loss plans, and speak to a physician about them.
  • http://www.everydiet.org/1001/sugar-and-artificial-sugar-facts Maybe take a look at this.
  • I would run into a convenience store and get some fruit. It can't take any longer than going to Arby's.
  • No pictures, but yesterday I hung my shirt on the doorknob when I got home (my family hates it when I put the wet shirts in the hamper) and when I went back a few minutes later there was puddle on the floor.
  • Congratulations on your achievement.
