Not sure where you are located but I have found exactly the opposite with the police. When the cops find out you are legal to carry they relax a little because you have passed a federal background check and have been looked at extensively. I too am 300 pounds and look like an a-hole (and a 2nd degree black belt) , but I'm…

How do you get a new kitchen knife? I would drive to the local store and buy one, but if you can't transport it, how do you get a new one? Can you order it on line? Can the delivery driver deliver it? WOW, I could not imagine living in a place that I can't even have a kitchen knife.

Lose the extra holiday weight and get below the 300 pound mark for the first time since 2006

Yet one more reason I'd never live in NY. They'd really frown upon the 9MM in my pocket right now...

The school I train in as well as the one I run, train with escrima sticks simply because I have never seen a sword or chucks laying around on the street but if I have to defend myself I almost certainly can find a stick.

Yea that kick is very impressive1

I saw a video of a high school classmate (female, 40ish, 130 pounds on a good day) breaking 7 bricks with an axe kick for her Green belt test. I have to think these are some kind of prop brick.

D@MN!! You're talented!

I don't consciously breathe out every movement but it seems like when I get into rhythm it just happens naturally.

I think it does come from point sparring. I teach my students the importance of knowing how to take out a knee in a self defense situation but all sparring is above the belt.

When I started Doing TKD I HATED forms, Now that I have my own school I find that doing forms teaches so much more that just practicing a technique. Congrats!
-
I love this!

Not Sure on "Peak" but I trained with a man that started his TKD Training @ 68 and got his black belt at 74. I watched him win the 40 and over division at a tournament in sparring at age 75. That dude is a Bad@ss!!

My son got a free month for Christmas and I got bored watching,

Wow, Great question! It was originally a Destination like most I think. Then about halfway through my training I knew that getting the Belt would not be the end and it became a goal/Milestone. When I finally reached my Black Belt it was a very emotional experience not only because I had reached a goal that I set for…

A curtain to cover the mirrors, those things can distract new students bad!.

I try to make it fun and challenging. I also am very clear that as they rank up the criticism gets more pointed and specific. I have a letter that I give to the parents when they sign their kids up so there are no surprises when I crack down on their kid. I always try to end the class with Smiling kids because that is what…

Inspiring!

To Relearn and practice some forms that I have not done in years so that I can teach them with confidence.
-
I have learned so much more teaching. It forces me to think about a technique or a drill instead of just doing it.
-
I hate wearing gear and when I spar with other blackbelts we don't wear any. However as a children's instructor I like the gear more for the parents than the kids. It makes the parents relax a little and see it as training rather than fighting.

Caro, MI TKD for 8 years. So far lost 110 pound+- and would like to lose 60 more. I'm 41 years old
-
I spar in class (light stuff) with my glasses on and my partners are respectful of them. When we really bang or in tournaments I wear contacts.

CICO is all I do, I try to stay low carb for my Diabetes but just calories in and calories out. Any other way and I feel like I'm depriving myself
-
I train on sprung hardwood dance floor it is awesome, but I typically wear TKD shoes I have extremely bad arthritis in my feet and if I go barefoot too long they hurt super bad. I like the feel of barefoot when it's happening but not the 2-3 days after.
-
We have a similar one with My son's belts on them only not Branded
-
Congrats! You beat everyone else that didn't have the courage to compete!
-
I like weekly too, sometimes I can't check in everyday!, Stupid work interfering with my MFP posting!
-
Right now my only organized class is 1 time per week and that is the one I teach. I do my own training 2-3 days over that
