  • Rummage sales and yard sales are a great places to pick up nice but very cheap weights, exercise bikes and such.
  • I love Planet Fitness. For people like me on a budget it works. They are affordable, the one I go to is very clean and the employees are very friendly and helpful. I've never seen anyone get treated badly, ridiculed or chastised. The one I go to is also a decent sized gym so it has a lot of equipment and I never have had…
  • I don't log the following things, never have, probably never will, they haven't changed my weight loss efforts: Gum Cough drops drinks (but I rarely drink anything with calories) condiments marinades seasonings Works for me, would probably set a lot of people over the edge :-)
  • What have I sacraficed inmy journey? Well I sacraficed time that I would have spent laying around doing nothing for getting up and moving. I've missed a couple naps, I've swapped peanut buster parfaits once a week for small hot fudge sundaes with spanish peanuts every now and then. I've swapped feeling lethargic and tired…
  • In every day there are positives in negatives in all aspects of our life. We have to choose to look for the positives in this journey, when we make the choice over and over and over again day in and day out it becomes habit, then it becomes our lifestyle. You can do this!
  • I think your absolutely right :-)
  • Don't know where your at in regards to overall health but that doesn't look like to much to me. When I started I was almost 300 pounds. When I started going to the gym I went 5 days a week and did 45-60 minutes of cardio a day. I didn't have any problems with that at all.
  • I have found some of my most motivativating moments are when people judge me incorrectly. Good for you not letting it get you down. I know my ticker says I've lost 100 pounds (and I have) but I am still over 200 pounds and overweight. But I am a fitter overweight then most not overweight people. The other night I had an…
  • I worked shift work for 24 years before I got a new job and normal schedule :-) I don't miss those days. Number one reason for me that I would have eating issues (lack of hunger/sick to stomach) was when I didn't get enough sleep. I learned early on in my shift work life that whatever shift I was on I had to make it my…
  • I pretty much only go to the gym during the winter (Michigan = lots of snow) and/or when it is very very hot to run and when it is raining. Outside activities I do include biking, jogging, walking, kayaking, swimming/pool fitness, yard work LOL, cross country skiing, this year I want to do snow shoeing as well. There are…
  • If my "binge" is a once every 3-4 month experience I don't do anything. I accept it as choices I made and move on. If I find myself in a more then one day binge Iook for a deeper cause and address it. Usually for me its poor surroundings, poor planning, not exercising, or emotional in its root cause. If I know I've gone a…
  • Awesome job! Sometimes it is hard to avoid those obstacles, I try to make sure once I know there is a "danger zone" that I avoid it.
  • I'm an odd breakfast person but I usually eat a combination of the following: Beef Jerky Almonds Vita Muffin Tops English muffin w/peanutbutter toasted
  • Welcome and congratulations on your committment to take care of yourself. One great motivator you should be able to use is your daughter :-) She needs a healthy mom.
  • I'm single. I buy most of my non grocery items at a dollar/discount store or when its on clearance, sale or I have a good coupon. I use my grocery stores "perks" program that has an app for my phone where I can clip coupons. I spend between $40 and $60 a week. I look for really good sales on meat and or marked down meat…
  • I started running at about 5'3 & 250 lbs. I took it slow and started out walking a lot and jogging a little then walking a lot and jogging a little. Good shoes are essential as well for me I needed to start on even, paved ground. Trails and hills have come with time. I'm just over 207 lbs now (so still very much…
  • It makes perfect sense. The thing I constantly have to remind myself is this is a lifetime journey not something that I have to do for a month or 6 months or even just 1 year and then "back to normal"...I have had to find a new normal and in that normal there are going to be some days like the one I had yesterday. The…
  • Yeah I have lost 100 pounds and for the most part it does work for me. I guess my goal is I'm 12 pounds away from my "big goal". I will probably set a new goal when I get there as I still have some weight to lose but way back when, when I dared to dream the impossible that was the "big number" I came up with. The last…
  • What kind of "appliances" do you have access to? In our "break room" we have a microwave, toaster oven and a hotdog toaster. One of the things I do a lot is pre grill steaks and season them and slice them up and I will "re grill" them in the toaster oven. I bake b/s chicken breasts in a variety of styles all at one time in…
  • I've learned that I am my own biggest critic and discourager. Your doing great! I would concur with so many already who advise that increased speed will come with time. It has taken me many months and recovery from back surgery in the middle of it all to improve my speed but what I notice over the long term (many months)…
  • When I started this journey I was doing good just to walk a few miles a couple times a week. As I lost weight and got healthier I had to up the exercise and eventually began to run. In November of last year I was running 4-6 times a week 3 to 3.5 miles per time and in between grabbing about another 10 miles in walking here…

  • Disclaimer: I have horrible foot and gait issues because I shattered my right foot in a MC accident, but due to that I was constantly having blister problems. Someone suggested 5 toe socks by Injinii. I buy them at Dunhams sports although they can be found in various online sites also. I've been wearing them for 2 months…
  • I'm worried that your putting to much pressure on yourself and potentially then setting yourself up for failure. It has taken me 15 months to lose 91 pounds. Life has happened along the way including back surgery. I had no idea 15 months ago that in the middle of my weight loss/fitness journey I would have back surgery. It…
  • LOL...isn't perspective a wonderful and contradictful thing? I'm a runner. I love running. I never thought I would. I've had a lot of physical obstacles in my way including a car accident resultng in a closed head injury and a MC accident that left my right foot shattered and back surgery in December 2013. But I run. My…
  • I tend to do most of my meal cooking on Saturdays or Sundays. I utilize a freezer to help me add variety as I also tend to buy a "family pack" and I'm one person so I don't want to be eating the same meat source each week. But here is what I do. Last week I bought a family pack of b/s chicken breasts. I then cut them into…
  • 1 ounce of beef jerky 100 calories almonds
  • I started my fitness journey in December of 2012. I didn't start any exercise (nor honestly did I feel inclined to) Until the beginning of March 2013. When I started I joined a gym because I had nothing at home and two big dogs who like to get in the way. I started on a treadmill and walked, my goal was 30 minutes a day. I…
  • First part of the month is walking as I had back surgery on December 10th and neurosurgeon said I couldn't start running until March 10th: March 1: 5.25 miles March 2: 5 miles March 3: 2.5 miles March 4: 2.5 miles March 6: 5 miles March 8: 5 miles RUNNING starts: March 10: 3.64 miles March 11: 3.24 miles March 13: 3.21…
