Can you list the amounts and foods you ate that added up to 550 cals because it doesn't make sense.

The walking is doing her good and as cardio is the only exercise keeping her carbs lower is okay. Maybe eventually introduce some bodyweight training at home if cannot get to a gym.
-
yep.

Perhaps you should be doing 1g of protein per pound of lean body weight rather than total body weight?
-
MFP always calculates a too low protein allowance. How many grams of protein have you been having. I would have at least 100g of protein daily.
-
They must be talking about the raw weight of the protein not the actual amount of grams of protein in a piece of meat/protein source. So about 120g raw weight of chicken breast contains about 30g (need to check can't remember off-hand) actual protein. You should consume at least 120-150g actual protein. Whatever suits.
-
No! Where did you get that from? I wouldn't eat more than 150g protein, not sure of your weight. Why don't you cut your carbs back to about 120g and see how you go - the drop from 150g-250g will make a difference.

-
At the moment, how many grams of carbs are you having daily?
-
Did you weigh weekly? Just wondering if you gained every week?

Great results people that posted pics. As someone else mentioned do not consider 150g high carb. But probably a good amount for a lot of us who are not so active. I started as a 20g low carber and still find it hard to let myself eat a lot of carbs. Would never go back to 20g. That was a big mistake for me.

They do know about low carb. I didn't see it as being negative just giving their opinion and experience on it. All can comment, just ignore what you don't like.
-
that's what I meant
-
The post work out shake after training should have carbs in it along with protein. Not low carb.
-
Thanks Albertabeefy for your comments.

Your diet is also protein sparing if you include sufficient carbohydrates, if you wanted to eat that way instead of very low carb to induce ketosis.

Under MY HOME - GOALS- Choose CUSTOM and enter your own values

Take a look at your calories - too high, not enough, maybe change up your macros - more protein, less carb. Change up exercise - maybe need to increase the intensity? Are you still logging all your calories correctly and not under-estimating?
-
How do you know it increased your metabolism. Perhaps eating regularly keeps your appetite in check and you don't over-eat going over your calorie deficit when eating less meals per day.
-
I would start higher calories to see how you go. Why start off very low when you may lose fine with more calories. If things plateau down the track you have room to go lower in calories or increase intensity of exercise. Also perhaps don't follow the MFP suggested macros - too low in protein.
-
When they lose weight some of those low carbers may be able to increase their carbs, improve their insulin sensitivity. May not need to be a low carber for life.
-
Are you vegetarian? If so, need some more vegetarian protein sources. Not the fake vego foods. I think you have enough fruit and need more vegetables.
-
I think (like most) you just have to clean up your food so you can create a caloric deficit. Mostly because you are eating a lot of junk food. I think it makes it harder to maintain a caloric deficit with junk food. Some people can do it fine. Dont be in a rush because usually if you deprive yourself too much you end up…

A good strength training program would be a must. Increases insulin sensitivity. Depending on how many carb grams you are eating at the moment, try eating less and see how you go. May not need to go very low levels. See what works for you.

Try 100C, 42F and 119P
-
How many grams of carbs daily are you having at the moment?
-
I would go for body fat percentage too: http://www.builtlean.com/2012/09/24/body-fat-percentage-men-women/

Congratulations on your loss to date - looking good. So you have 10 more pounds to go. With your usual calorie amount of 1200/1400 your grams of carbs are already in the low range? Just try a ketosis diet and see how it goes for you. Maybe adding some slow cardio as well.

Probably a good idea to see a professional so you don't head down the same path.

Well said
