  • I had way longer plateau's than that while I was losing. It also sounds like the scale is moving, just not as much as you'd like. Maybe you can open your diary so we can have a look and make suggestions?
  • I really like the Sworkit app for short workouts. You can set it for as little as 5 minutes, and as long as an hour. I think. I haven't actually used it for a while because I forget about it.
  • This is the program I used to go from 5K to 10K. What you want to do is completely doable. To be honest, you could very likely go run a 10K today. I'm not saying you should, but the jump from 3 to 6 is much larger in our minds than in actual effort I think. Be prepared for slowing down as you add distance. I got slower…
  • I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago yesterday. I gained a little initially, but more due to bad eating habits than anything else. I don't feel like my hysterectomy did anything to hinder my ability to lose weight. I don't think that's what your problem is. I often see people say that they eat very little and log everything,…
  • I've searched for this thread and can't find it. Can someone help? n/m, found it! It's actually started by usmcmp
  • For busy schedules, I love the app Sworkit. It has short awesome workouts. You've done this before, so you know what you need to do.
  • Your strategy is awesome! My kids help menu plan as well. At least one night per week each person is really happy! We also do a lot of southwestern style foods so people have choices. For example, when we have tacos I usually make it into a taco salad with no shell, my husband and youngest have soft tacos, and my oldest…
  • I think you're making this really hard on yourself. I'd be pretty upset if I had to cook three different meals too! You need to find some meals for everyone to eat, even if a few adjustments have to be made. I have a kid with food allergies, and there some meals I have to modify a bit for him, but for the most part we all…
  • I added all of you that I could find. I'm mishb26
  • I just want to address the walking ladies and what you said about them not losing weight. Maybe they aren't trying to. Maybe it's social for them. Maybe it's their chance for time away from their lives, just chatting with each other. Good for them. Even if they aren't thinner, I'm certain they're healthier, both mentally…
  • As others have suggested, spreading your calories out will help you not be so hungry. It also helps me not overeat at dinner. If I've restricted calories all day in order to save for a bigger dinner I tend to eat too much in the evening. Good luck!

  • Next question...How do I deadlift? It's so confusing to me that a gym wouldn't have this stuff!
  • So glad to see this post! Tonight I did 25 pound squats and was proud! Yay for a 15 pound bar at the gym! I feel like my legs could support 45 pounds but the bar is so heavy I start leaning forward.
  • This thread is really huge and I haven't read much, but is it ok if I jump in? I started the program Sunday, but didn't get to lift last night and won't tonight. We don't have a gym where I live, so I use the high school weight room. The problem with that is that I have to go at a time my husband (the Principal) can go…
  • I use all kinds of stuff as fuel. I run ultras and I can only stomach gels and chews for about 25 miles. Honestly, there's not a lot I wouldn't eat on a run. My husband often brings me pieces of frozen pizza. I like nutrigrain bars, cookies, candy, pretzels, almonds, bananas, just to name a few. My advice is either carry…

  • I think it happens to everyone. I had one of those this morning. I'm really hoping tomorrow is better.
  • I think you'd be better off learning to eat a healthy diet.
  • I run early in the morning. Is that an option for you?
  • This. Don't beat yourself up. Just eat a normal lunch and dinner and eat healthy again tomorrow. ((HUGS))
  • I love eating pickles as a snack. In fact, I'm heading to the kitchen now to get some.
  • The zumba classes I've been to have women of all ages, shapes and sizes. There will be people that know every move and do them perfectly and look great doing them, and people that have no clue what's going on. I think they tend to be very welcoming to people of all skill levels. Go and have a good time!

  • Normally I never wash shoes. Hose them off maybe. However, twice I have. Once was a 50K trail race when it rained on us for 5 hours. They were so filthy that I didn't think they'd get close to clean any other way. I regretted it immediately. The first time I put them back on after washing I smashed something on the side…
  • Add me too! I'm trying to do better about logging daily. I always log in, but don't always log all my food. Trying to change that.
  • This is what I do. Log what I think the ingredients are. Also, I find it helpful to ask for a to go box when my meal comes. Put half in the box. I don't miss the other half and still feel like I had a treat and cleaned my plate. If I tell myself I'll only eat half but don't put it in a box right away I find myself…
  • Agree with all of this. Also, don't stop moving. Even if you're going slow, just keep going. Don't give yourself permission to just stop and rest a little while. That can turn into a long while very easily. Try to get in and out of the aid station(s) as fast as possible. That can kill soooo much time.
  • Have you considered two handhelds for the first part? You could carry two and leave one at the first aid station. I know several people that carry two at once. I personally can't stand it, but different things work for different people. I personally use a nathan vest and like it a lot. I tried camelbak and it was horrible.…
  • I have been doing PT for 6 weeks, plus 2 visits to the orthopedist to figure out similar pain. So far the cause remains a mystery. At one point I was in so much pain I couldn't even run a mile. I'm building up and am up to 3 miles at once now. Don't ignore it. I did for entirely too long. How often and how far are you…
