  • spaghetti squash green curry, kale bean soup, rice noodles with veggies and coconut aminos, loaded sweet potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, banana oat bites, kale burgers, fruit salad, stuffed peppers, stir fry veggies, quinoa fruit salad
  • from personal experience, recovery is best and essential with treatment. if you are in the US, NEDA has a screening tool and also a hotline that can help provide info on treatment options wherever you live. best of luck!
  • i've been trying to regain weight since june and just last week finally gained two pounds. its super hard. its been helpful to keep pb at work and eat that like all day. you really have to be eating all day and be full all the time. avocados nuts and seeds are pretty calorie dense, if you do dairy that can help to add it…
  • have you ruled out anything medical that may be contributing to issues with keeping weight on? extra stress in your life? calculate your tdee to maintain weight and then add on to that to try and gain. it's a lot harder than people think it is to gain weight. i have been trying to regain weight since june and literally…
  • i gained a pound, i think it was from eating crap at my friends house though. lost it a couple days later plus a little extra. my therapist is gonna be so disappointed she was excited when i told her i gained a pound.
  • thanks for sharing!
  • i don't want to gain weight but my outpatient team hadn't weighed me in a long time, and when they did again (i had gotten sick with lyme and had lost my appetite and were concerned as illness causes set backs many times for people recovering from eating disorders). i am down to 106 at 5'5 and they want me to gain to 120.…
  • idk if subway guac is read avocado lol. avocado is very decision, and you can make your own guac way better than a take out chain. it is also good in smoothies, frozen to use as a base for a chocolate moose, plain by itself, on sandwiches, used in place of mayo. skinnytaste blog has a lot of recipes with avocado as well.…
  • i have a client who knows a lot about nutrition and is also a chef. he recently because of side effects is becoming pre diabetic, and was able luckily to switch from seroquel to lithium as seroquel is a nasty weight gainer and screws your metabolism. anyhoo he is doing this type of diet, for a few weeks and is slowly just…
  • it's nobody's business about what size you are but your own. the fact that you eat a healthy amount and exercise for reasons to maintain health as well to get better at running, is perfectly normal. from a clinical standpoint as a counselor in a residential mental health apartment program as well as someone in recovery…
  • i just had two tbsp pb on toasted wheat bread with a tbsp jam for breakfast. yum! and burp, very full for the rest of the morning
  • they are high in calories however have healthy fats and good protein. if you can work it into your day, go for it! if not, then don't. they are filling as well, and just be carefull to keep track of how much of them you eat bc they are so calorie dense it can add up, a handful could be more than you think you are consuming
  • 3-4 hours a day of exercise is a lot! and needs to be fueled. however, the emotional issues and addiction behind the food, and guilt and obsessive thoughts however are not good. have you spoken to a medical professional? also, there are over eaters annonymous groups that can help people with all sorts of food issues, over…
  • what other people have said, up the cals a little at a time for your body to adjust, an intial gain or blaot may happen but as you will be lifting it is important to make sure you hit this higher goal! good luck !
  • oh man i love thai! do you have a recipe you would be able to share? thanks!
  • for myself, to avoid the feeling of being too full i upped my cals by about 100 a week until i was up from 700/800 a day to around 14/1500 a day. simply bc if i tried to eat that much more after have been restricting for years, it was very uncomfortable for me physically and mentally so upping it in small amounts was more…
  • congrats on your recovery, i am in maintenance for my recovery after gaining. i was supposed to be eating 2200 to gain, but i was not eating as much, as i was part of a research study for those diagnosed with anorexia that had me on a medication that made me gain stupidly fast. there are plenty of websites that you can…
  • hello there. i am 5'4, my maintenance falls between like 118-123 depending on the day and if i had a lot of beer the day before haha. but that sounds like a good range for you, whatever you feel happy with and comfortable!
  • i haev more of a problem with places not having a lot of vegan/vegetarian options. and that applebees on their 2 for $20 has no vegetarian items and say no substitutions. **** you applebees
  • if you don't eat out often it doesn't really make a difference if you go over for the day. you can always order off the kids menu as there are smaller portions or ask for a box with the meal so you can box half of it, as many places serve more than what is necessary for a meal.
  • op i didn't realize you were vegan. some other high calorie foods: quinoa seitan beans oreos (lol sorry they're vegan but that will def get those cals up!) cook with olive oil or add olive oil seeds and nuts to salads, that will definitely get you up a few hundred very easily without feeling any extra full
  • and the bloating goes away, i promise :] my doctor too was talking to me about how many people feel bloated after eating as well. but definitely since you have been used to the 800s, doubling that is a lot physically and mentally. you got this though, hang in there and just remember one day at a time! eating disorders…
  • upping it a little at a time helped me. i haven't read the other replies so idk if anyone said that, but i started adding about 50-100 extra cals every week or two until i got to a maintenance amount that i needed. also calorie dense foods are good. instead of filling up on mass veggies to get all the cals in, full fat…
  • hey ashley, i know what you mean about feeling big. i ganed 20 pounds in my recovery and am back to a healthy weight for my height - 5'4 and 120 lbs. as long as you are eating a healthy amount then your body will balance itself out to where it needs to be. as for the calories, i know it feels like binge eating and i am so…
  • clean foods would be better for your body instead of processed crap. i am working with my treatment team to break labels off good and bad food. as someone recovering from an eating disorder, i have to look at it as food is good in moderation, and to not be scared of "bad" foods. of course this doesn't apply to me, and if i…
  • i like the idea of having your daughter help you cook, dad always had us cook with him so we were excited to eat it and see how it came out. i am limited on growing food as i live in an apt complex but some things you can grow in a pot, or do tomatoes on a vine. even if it's just some herbs and a few veg you grow yourself,…
  • hey there. i'm in treatment for an eating disorder, and right now we are focussing on taking the labels off "good" and "bad" foods. i get that eating natural foods obviously is better for you, instead of eating fast food and packaged stuff for every meal. relax though. wash your produce before you eat it and honestly the…
  • your bf% will increase with weight gain. was in a similar boat as far as the same height and weight, although i am a recovering anorexic, and back to a healthy weight and bf% for my height. it is harder than people think to healthily gain weight.
