Brami Foods lupini beans - I've been trying to find out why their product is so much lower in total carbs than others' products. These beans don't have starch apparently but some products indicate they have more total carbs than Brami. How is that possible?

Drink plenty of water or sodium buildup will make you store water.

I don't think my problem, then, isn't stimulating muscle. I think I need to focus on proper nutrition. I've been afraid of getting fat when eating more. Along those lines, do you eat less food on rest days or do you keep everything the same? Also, how long do you keep the bulk phase going?

For the makeup gothchiq ... I thought my username was a giveaway. LOL

A previous response I posted I was asking about calorie intake and eating on rest days, etc. Your question about stimulating muscles ... that's a question I'm not sure I can answer without sounding like a newbie. LOL I've not been doing compound lifts.

Thanks for the response. What I've been doing lately for my workout is tri/back day 1, bi/chest day 2 and legs day 3 ... 15-20 minutes cardio otherwise. I do that twice (a week)

Thank for the responses. Another thing I've been wondering about: do you eat less on rest days or keep the same level of calories regardless? Do you keep the same protein/fat/carbs every day?

I try to eat carbs before lifting - I thought it would be enough but it wasn't. I took a bottle of Gatorade low cal for the little bit of sugar in it. It seems that was what I needed to help me get through it without getting dizzy and a run to the locker room bathrooms. In a separate instance, I ran on a fairly hilly/rocky…

If you're intimidated then you are at the wrong gym. I go to planet fitness. I started a new free weights routine. I didn't want to but trainer set it up and get me comfortable with it. The thing is to be confident. Know what you are doing. KICK *kitten*.

I reccmend doing things the hard way. Modern technology has taken out the calorie burn factor out of our lives. It has made us fat. We don't need energy bars and snacks like we did. So what I mean by "hard way" is do dishes manually, walk to store, mow the lawn on foot, garden, housework, etc

It's funny my triceps I can use the weight machine and lift 100lbs. Bicep machine barely 60lbs. I do not want to bulk legs. I already have bulky legs.

I guess I have other questions about adding muscle mass to upper body I just need to ask *something*. Need to start somewhere.

litajoc, the thing I was trying to figure out ended up being a question of my activity level and how to judge it. If you include your workout in your overall activity level then you should not be adding calories. If you do NOT include your workout in your overall activity level then you should be adding calories.
-
So I guess it depends on the activity level I've selected. If I include my cardio into my activity level, I should not include it in my calorie count. If I choose a lower activity level, I should eat the extra calories. Sound about right?

GPS with the Nike+ Sportwatch is not necessary especially if you use the shoe sensor. They include it in the package specifically for instances where GPS is unavailable (read: indoors, etc.)
-
I have a Nike+ watch. In the box it also has a shoe sensor. The shoe sensor connects to iPhone/iPod apps I believe and also the watch. When you are indoors on a treadmill, the sensor can track your speed. When coupled with the watch, it will compare it to time. You can upload all this info to computer and it keeps track…

Please beware that muscle weighs more than fat. If you add muscle, you will weigh more. If you have the ability to monitor body fat, that may be more of a better guide for you. I am going into transition to add muscle and need to find info about this, too.

My first race was a 5miler (8K) so I don't know how much time it took for me to do 5K but that race was 46 minutes.

Could it be muscle? I agree. Don't give up. Just make sure you don't starve yourself.

All meat/poultry is animal muscle fiber. Animal muscle fiber has veins and arteries in it. Typically, they are too small to see. If you see liquid of any sort there will be blood in it but it is so diluted from washing before packaging. What it looks like before cooking should not matter too much what it looks like after…

Why doesn't one earn more when lifting weights?
