More exercise, more food

Is eating more because I exercised going to offset calorie burn? If I am trying to keep a 500 calorie deficit per day and I log a 35 minute run the app will say that I've got more to eat. Should I just skip the extra calories?

MFP sets your deficit so that you will lose weight if you do no exercise. Since you're exercising, you're making that deficit even bigger. I would eat back a percentage of the calories you burned during exercise, maybe 40-75%, to keep your body fueled and keep your energy up.0

MFP is designed for you to eat those earned calories and still lose weight. I would add the caveat that using a heart rate monitor is the only way to be certain about the number of calories you've burned, so MFP's estimates may be a little high (or a little low depending). It's up to you whether or not you trust them, but I'd definitely recommend eating at least some of them back.0
