  • Better tasting coffee, brew it not as strong, and use milk of choice (coconut, almond, cow's, goat's) and some honey. That's how I do coffee, and it's tastier and less calories than pounds of powdered creamer and sugar in craptacular Folger's.
  • I take a pre-natal due to the higher iron content, more folic acid (since I was slightly deficient on some bloodwork so the doc recommended a prenatal since I'm of child-bearing age anyway), but the downside is they don't have as much calcium as a typical women's one-a-day, which is the drawback my doctor told me about,…
  • My weight has gone up and down for the past 3 years and the only size difference I notice when I lose weight is my band size goes down. Was a 34 DD at 14, then a 38 DDD at 17. 36 DDD right now, and even after some modest weight loss, still got the knockers but a smallish chest circumference compared to breast size.
  • Oh, doy! Nuts, obviously. I can grab raw almonds on the cheap at DG, same with avocados at the local Aldi's for a dollar each usually. I'll check the meat department when I go the grocer's and see if they have any fatty cuts on sale. We own hens so right now I can get usually 1 or 2 eggs a day from them so I eat those for…
  • Salad jars are awesome. You layer your dressing on the bottom, then hearty bits like tomatos, meats, carrots, beans on top of that, then your salad blend, then your light bits like seeds or fruit. Your salad doesn't get soggy and when you want to eat it, just give it a good shake and dig in. I bring yogurt and fruit,…
  • If it produces a calorie deficit, you can eat like that for life, and you aren't going to die doing it/have awful health repercussions, go for it. It's not for everybody. If you find out a vegan low fat diet works well for you, fantastic! If eating paleo/primal helps keeps the pounds off and the diabetes away, great! If…
  • Pre-natal vitamin, Vitamin D, Fish Oil, Calcium+D+Magnesium+Zinc complex, and a probiotic.
  • I've tried almost every topical and combination of antibiotics and birth control, and so far the only thing that makes a difference now is Tazorac at night, 0.1% on top of CeraVe moisturizer mixed with Baby Bee from Burt's Bee oil, a low processed sugar diet with limited hard dairy (the occasional yogurt or kefir doesn't…
  • I had 2 cupcakes filled with oreos and chocolate chips last night. Don't feel so bad!
  • oh, I see what you did there :D
  • GNC brand is pretty darn tasty and affordable. Optimum Nutrition gold is the best tasting, IMO and high quality. A little more expensive than the GNC house brand, but worth it. I can mix it with water and like it, or almond milk or whole milk for more a meal-type drink.
  • There are cheaper products that do its job better. A bag of Sunwarrior warrior blend protein, a Garden of Life prenatal multi and some fish oil capsules does the same but a lot cheaper each month. Eating in a deficit will cause weight loss, not some magic shake from BB.
  • I'm an LPN right now going back to school for my RN, and I have definitely put on the weight during nursing school. I'm almost to my last semester, and I was making good progress until my third semester, and I gained it all back D: so now I'm working to reverse the damage done. feel free to add me!
  • I eat gluten and wheat free now because my boyfriend is celiac's, and it's not incredibly hard. I do it when he's around mainly, and the habit just transfers over when I'm alone because I also eat (mainly) paleo, and I figure if I want to cook for him, it doesn't hurt to also eat like he does for the most part. I don't do…
  • I like ThinkThin protein bars. Around 220 calories, 20-22 grams of whey protein, no gluten, a bit like a very dense brownie, not overly sweet (I get the dark chocolate ones in the hospital cafeteria for a snack between lunch and dinner) and paired with a piece of fruit and a carton of whole milk, it's a pretty good…
  • Wait and get the clear from your doctor. C-section is MAJOR surgery, so just keep it low impact, wait, follow your post-surgical instructions to the T! I am a nurse, so I get very anal about these things when I have patients post surgery call me and ask when they can work out again, and I always say "wait for the medical…
  • My diet is pretty high in fat, but I'd like it to be more. Right now I sit pretty at 20% carbs (so 98 grams, I rarely ever hit 90 unless I go fruit crazy that day.) 30% protein, and 50% fat, most of which is from meat, butter, avocados, nuts, and the occasional splash of olive oil on a salad. I've also started using whole…
  • I hate the taste of pretty much all artificial sweeteners except for Stevia in the Raw and the actual stevia leaf. I used to grow stevia but it died and I haven't bothered to get a new plant for my garden. I've read about monk fruit and I really want to try the new monk fruit extract sweetener once I run out of stevia.
  • I had a chocolate ice cream and greek yogurt smoothie last night. SO MANY CALORIES. SO MUCH SUGAR. SO DELICIOUS THOUGH. The only good thing about it was the protein from the yogurt, haha.
  • I caved in to the beast that is Teavana if I buy loose leaf in a walk-in store. They have a huge selection, and the people at my local store aren't crazy pushy about sales. Online though, Adagio tea is an awesome place, an awesome return policy, and lots of yummy blends.
  • Breakfast: 4 pancakes from IHOP, not sure what flavor, but Cinnastack and New York Cheesecake are really good. A large mocha and caramel frappuchino with whipped cream from Starbucks. Maybe a full English with extra toast instead if I don't want something really sweet. Lunch: Chinese buffet with plenty of crab rangoon, and…
  • Adding club soda to 100% juice as a treat helped me get over my soda craving. It's really the carbonation I was after, and keeping little bottles of reduced sodium club soda in the pantry helps whenever that craving hits, so I mix a bottle with some minute maid pomegranate-blueberry juice (about 4 oz) and MMMM. Sweet as…
  • Not to mention as a nation we're getting older. The youngest baby boomers are aging, and aging brings weight gain.
  • Fage total classic is full fat and very good! Have you tried making your own? I used to make my own before I became so busy and used whole milk, then strained the yogurt for about half and hour and my goodness it was the most creamy, rich yogurt I've ever had and really cheap (but takes time and some effort. But here, I…
  • Wal-mart protein powder. Tasted bitter and medicinal. Couldn't even choke it down for the protein benefit.
  • I always eat worse on the weekends because I'm home all day and my grandfather doesn't want to cook because he works M-F so he orders pizza or grills hot dogs and says "Go at it". I usually plan and pack meals for the weekdays because I'm gone all day but come the weekend, I sleep in, stay up late, drink a little soda, eat…
  • Hi there. I have regular braces now, and I've have invisalign for a brief moment in time in the past. In the beginning, it's a pain to clean regular braces, and it still is eating healthy foods like greens and veggies since they get stuck in the wires, but a quick swish of water or a trip to the bathroom with a toothbrush…
  • I like the ritual of coffee. The smell, the taste, the color of cafe au lait, enjoying a nice cup sitting by my window watching the birds and trees while reading some nursing magazines. Sometimes I even have coffee while I workout (along with water!) on my rushed days. Same with espresso. It's more than just a caffeine…
  • The only reason you need to cut gluten is if you have a confirmed gluten sensitivity or Coeliac disease.
  • No. "Foods associated with the high fat intake in this Swedish study were "fats used for spreading on bread and cooking, dairy products, oil for salad dressing or cooking, various types of meats, and sausages, as main dishes or on sandwiches, pizza, deep fried potato chips, French fries, including corn chips and popcorn.""…
