  • I don't like to consider foods as good or bad, because I try to remember that this is a lifestyle change and that moderation is key. For example, I have chocolate EVERY DAY. Is my body perfect? no. but have I lost 28 lbs in 3 months without feeling deprived or upset? HECK YES. And I'm proud and going strong.... more than…
  • Well, I'm not positive since I am not a doctor/trainer/nutritionist, but personally I don't think so! I eat usually 60-120 g per day ( I know it's a big range but I have trouble being consistent with class/work/other time commitments) On days when I feel I don't have enough protein I can FEEL it. I know when I need more…
  • egg whites? at 5 g protein per 25 calories, they're a great way to get protein!!! i make them like regular eggs or blend them in with protein shakes or other beverages
  • definitely tell her. start with complimenting how great she looks and then suggest a girls day of shopping (like someone else mentioned). chances are she'll love the idea. :)
  • the MFP guideline is a good one, but if you are trying to build muscle you need to be eating WAY WAY more protein in which case the 130 grams seems accurate. i try to get as much as possible-- some days thats 60 g, some days more :)
  • you can lose fat by calorie restriction alone, yes, but running does AMAZING things for your body. i would know (when i started i couldn't run more than 3 minutes without thinking i'd die and i was winded from 1 flight of stairs... now, stairs are no problem and i am running 3.5 ish miles and looking to increase). also,…
  • HOW COME I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS? you, my friend, are brilliant. i will be trying this later!

  • are you serious? OMG. that's amazing.
  • starbucks has sugar free syrups which are delicious which can be added to any hot or cold beverage. i believe they are 0 calories, but you might want to double check with the baristas. I really enjoy the sugarfree cinnamon dolce syrup in my iced coffee with a little skim milk. DELISH! some people will say that you should…

  • She is a hardcore athlete with very little body fat. The average person on a quest to lose weight will not end up looking like this, as her body is the result of extensive training and years and years of work and dedication. I, for one, think she has an incredible body and would LOVE to look like her. I don't really expect…
  • wahhhhh i wish the pics had worked. but thanks for the support anyway guys :))
  • hey girl, i totally get where you are coming from and these frustrations, but i just wanted to warn against promises from the elliptical! the burn is usually very overestimated on this machine (at least from the ones i have encountered and from others i have spoken with). in general, the more you sweat the more calories…
  • chances are you can find something you like! i love going for a walk with a friend. preferably a long walk so i can count it as exercise. other than that, i love running and sports!
  • i LOVE it in a shake with egg whites, vanilla protein powder, and almond milk. problem is i started eating too much spinach too fast and ended up getting tummy pain (lol raw spinach can be hard to digest and i was using about 5-6 cups a day haha). i also really like to sautee it with a drop of olive oil and some lemon…

  • Me too! absolute favorite to lift to.
  • Okay, well to each his own. I'm not here to judge. Doesn't seem like something I would be interested in, but thank you for the offer!
  • I love reading inspiring stories like this. I don't even know you and I am finding myself smiling at my computer feeling proud of you. You deserve this. Stay strong girl :) you rock!
  • Why do these message boards get so mean? I think the OP posted a cool idea. Confidence in one's self is the best way to positively work towards our goals. I'm not sure why it turned into cool kids under 150 and then people being mean to each other. NOT what this is about. c'mon....
  • i try to have a large glass of water before eating and then have a salad. THEN i eat whatever the meal is in a small-ish portion. Then have another large glass of water! at that point, im usually pretty full. however, sometimes late at night i get major munchies. i find it helpful to have snacks at the ready! you can get…
  • Not Paleo, but Im GF and eat very limited lactose. Often find myself using Paleo recipes and this sounds FANTASTIC! Thanks for sharing :)
  • love that idea. i ALWAYS have all those ingredients in the house, too! I bet we could do some fun variations as well with other veggies :) thanks for sharing... you better believe im going to try these asap!
  • hah sometimes i weigh MORE after a workout because i drink SO MUCH WATER. i definitely agree with everyone else about first thing in the morning after taking care of..erm..bodily need and before feeding.
  • Yes. this. ^^ That said, cardio is great for you and will probably help you reach your goals for fat loss but building muscle means picking up heavy things. :flowerforyou:
  • Hi Karen, Congratulations on deciding now is the time. You CAN and WILL do this. I'm happy to help as much as possible (feel free to add me). Does you university have a gym? I use my school gym every day because it is free. It might be a little bit more limited than some of the gyms which require a membership, but it's…
  • hahahaha baby unicorn tears!!!! i also REFUSE to think of it as a diet. thinking of it as such is likely the reason i failed everytime i've planned to lose weight. then i usually ended up gaining even more. when i started this journey my goal was to lose 50 lbs. I am now halfway there and still don't think of myself as 'on…
  • I think everyone jumped at him too fast. I agree with this information, and it has worked for me. I hit a plateau after losing 20 lbs and I only added an extra 150-200 calories per day and tried to do just a little bit more exercise. Soon broke the plateau. Just saying. :)
