I can answer #5....you see firmness and definition, not jiggle and wiggle.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your perspective. I don't think she's catty, but I do know that her weight is VERY important to her. She's been known to go on cleanses, she works out constantly, etc. I am going to just give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was trying to guide me...maybe because she's had a brush…

My belly always pooches out, so hugs to you! Have you been drastically altering your diet? Perhaps it's water retention or IBS as a result of new foods being introduced lately. If it helps, I have been at this for 2 weeks and I feel bigger than when I started. Maybe our brains just become hyper critical because we're…

I've never thought of it as being a fear... But isn't it a tad ridiculous? Or am I being rude? [/quote] The cure for that is feeling gratitude instead-- that your mentality is healthy and that moderation comes easily to you.

This. I personally have a very hard time stopping after the first candy bar...it can often escalate into weeks of ****ty eating. Does the psychology of it make sense? No. Is it just how I am? Yes. So, a day of bad eating makes me feel like I'm heading in a bad direction, which is why I reach out for support afterward. I'm…

This is reassuring--that one day I'll be able to eat like a normal human and not want to devour the entire contents of our cupboards at work like some kind of rabid beast after a perfectly lovely salad. There's hope!

Not in the slightest, but what matters here is whether you felt out of control. In my world, carrot sticks and binges are mutually exclusive. Now talk to me about the entire pint of Rocky Road I plowed through on Saturday....

How interesting...I did eat like utter ****e this weekend (hence the salad), maybe that's why? Breakfast today was pretty solid. Hmmm.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys...I'm new to the world of protein shakes, how does that work? Are we talking like, muscle milk, here, or fruit with a protein powder in it? I did work out pretty hard, maybe it was wishful thinking that a big bowl of veggies would satisfy. I know that veggies (especially broccoli) and…

Is chicken more filling than tuna? Do tell.

I am working toward this goal, so HUGE high five!

Warning: Possible side effects of a bangin' body may include loss of arm rest....:-) Nice job!

This is my danger zone as well...it's almost a stress relief trigger to eat after work. Tea does help me....something to keep my hands and mouth busy. If that doesn't work for you, how about seltzer with fruit juice? Also, I find painting my nails is a worthy distraction...the smell is an appetite killer and then your…

My range is in the 1500s, but check out my diary--without my morning coffee treat I'd be at 1400.

I love those! Laughing cow, too.

Good trick!
-
Haha, agreed. But then the whole point is the cheese! Grilled cheese and tomato sammiches are my favorite treat food.

Lots more protein, more calcium, way less sugar, good for you cultures (especially um, for the ladies) There are 60-80 calories in a Dannon light and fit and 100 in a Fage 0%, which is also not that wild a difference considering it's much more filling due to the protein. Dannon:…

Wow, your hips are disappearing!

We have similar body type goals. I prefer a more willowy look on myself. I wish I could get into yoga, my brain just gets so restless. (All the more reason to take it, right?) Argh. I have a friend who does barre and looks amazing, like a model but with delicate musculature. I'm onto her now! Thanks for the tip.

Oh god, I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out! My eyes! You're definitely right, she's a yoga instructor, after all, and I'm a desk jockey. Cue me furiously googling how to become a zumba instructor in 3,2,1....
-
That's not my actual instructor. It's a picture from the internet to show what she looks like. Man, that guy has some serious washboard action going!
-
Haha! This made me laugh. I dunno, though....this is more what my teacher looks like: http://www.yogacentercarmel.org/instructors/katie.jpg Rawr...I'd be okay with these results.

Thanks everyone--interesting to learn about the strength vs. lean muscle differentiation. I am just *so* sore after this class, I figured it was the same as lifting weights. I may do zumba and weights instead now, since I pretty much hate yoga, yet it's the only thing that makes me that sore.
-
Wow, how inspiring! What's your routine?
-
Ah, okay thanks for the perspective everyone! That parasite sound awful, I'm so glad you're on the mend, Lauren! Okay, next question: I understand that filling up on salad is world's apart from filling up on pizza, calorie-wise. But if you know you need a certain amount of calories to reach your goal and keep your…

I'd say you could log it under "strength training", which, oddly enough is in the cardio section. I don't do a lot of strength stuff though, so I'm sure there's a more detailed way of logging it.

Forgive me if this has been said, but in addition to not eating nearly enough, I see two servings of lettuce, one curry that had peas, and one serving of fruit this week! Girl, you need to eat fresh produce. 3 - 5 servings daily, not weekly. I know it can be hard to focus on it, especially when you're depressed and…

She asked a complex question hoping to receive guidance and support. It doesn't make someone a "wannabe Dr. Phil" to offer their insight and perspective, or tell her they can relate. I know that when I'm in pain, having someone tell me to simply "follow my heart" and "keep my chin up" is about as helpful as wishing upon a…
