  • Love this!! Saving it for tomorrow. :)
  • I have PCOS with insulin resistance. Not fun for sure. It is very hard for me to lose weight and I have been doing tons of research with the help of my nurse practitioner mom. I have learned a few things that helped me to lose almost 50lbs. Testosterone is a weight loss stopper. You can exercise too much with insulin…
  • Medical reasons for me. It keeps my insulin levels down and makes me feel normal. Plus because my insulin levels are low I don't get that starving feeling. I hate that! lol
  • I am on the low carb diet but my insulin levels stay up. :(
  • http://custom.bellaonline.com/articles/art172821.asp Here is one link. I have found many for the true studies done on Maitake Mushroom Extract. Many universities and hospitals have done independent studies on it and have found the same thing. I have been digging through all the information for months now. Everything says…
  • Bump one time. :)
  • I have taken it so long ago that I don't remember if it helps. I have been reading studies on it with promising results. I am about to buy some and give it another go. :) I can give you an update in a few days and weeks as it goes. :)
  • I also had constant hunger. I mean starving hunger feelings. I was constantly snacking. I went to my doctor and found out my insulin levels were high. Not sugar levels but fasting insulin levels. Then later I was diagnosed with PCOS. I would make a trip to my doctor and let them know how you are feeling. I good check up…
  • Saving this for later!!! Sounds good!
  • I'm low carb and love it!!! (ok...... maybe not this week. It's my son's 17th birthday and we have been celebrating. lol) Add me if you want. I need the low carb support too. Most of my friends look at me like I have two heads when I tell them how I'm losing weight. lol
  • If you are eating enough protein, fiber and drinking lots of water and still have hunger pains make a trip to your doctor. There are a few things that will make you have big hunger pains. With me, my insulin levels were high (not my sugar levels) causing an intense hunger pain no matter what I did. Now that I have that in…
  • Flax seed meal is my new favorite food!!! Well, I use it on all kinds of foods. You can batter almost anything with it. Roll your meat in egg wash and then in the flax seed meal and bake or fry in peanut oil (if it is pressed). It bakes nice a crisp. Add some spices or a ranch pack and add flavor. Mmmm I just fried me some…
  • Good morning everyone! I have been doing some reading and I think I'm going to try to treat my PCOS naturally. I have read a few articles and books about it. My meds seem not to be working for me any more. :( The curse of PCOS. I found out that the conventional meds just treat the symptoms and doesn't really get to the…
  • Is it still hard for you to lose weight? I can lose 10lbs a month with the meds I'm on but they make me sick in different ways. ick. lol
  • I follow the low carb diet too and it really does help. I can't take the pills or birth control because I have Lupus and it makes me have a flare. How many carbs do you eat a day?
  • I exercise because I have Lupus and I have friends with Lupus that can't exercise. There are even days when I can't so I am thankful to be able to exercise when I can. Days where I can't even walk some times or even sit. Have you seen that commercial where the little girls says she runs for those who can't. I understand…
  • I think the closest one they have to us in in Southern IN!!! Its in June I think so I will have to catch next years. No way I could get ready that soon with Lupus. But I will be soooo ready for next year!! :)
  • I sooooo want to run that race too. I've had it on my bucket list. :) Maybe we can run the same race!!

  • Hello everyone! :) I just found the group last night. I have been living lupie for the past 10 years. I started showing symptoms of Lupus shortly after the birth of my son 17 years ago. I didn't know it then. It took the docs 7 years to figure it out. I am a college student again, crafter, and love to be outdoors. I've had…

  • I am slow right now. I walk at 2.5 and jog at 4. I'm working on building up slow with Lupus. Then once I am able to run the full time I'll increase my speed. :)
  • Thanks! :)
  • I always thought long term ketosis was bad for your health. Where can I find information about this? I am interested in learning more. :)
  • I am just now starting to read the studies on the subject but I thought this little article was interesting. I have no opinion on the subject just yet. I have to read more research and studies. Not other peoples opinions of the studies. :) http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/weight-loss/truth-starvation-mode
  • I agree with the others. Everyone is different. I had to learn how to listen to my body after I was told I had PCOS. It has been a roller coaster road. A really good doctor will go a long way with PCOS. It can make a big difference. :) Some doctors don't feel that PCOS is something to be concerned with and others just…
  • OMG!!! I'm so going to try this!!

  • I'm on a low carb diet because of health issues so we are planning a few special dishes to take to the family picnic. Sugar free jello eggs, veggie tray, meat and cheese tray, and ham rolls. Then I will eat a burger without the bun. :) Or if I get adventurous enough I will make a few low carb buns from a recipe I found. :)…
