Bumping because I just needed to re-read myself. Moved to Germany and have gained 10lbs with all the travel and lifestyle change (these people LOVE carbs!!), but I am refocusing and needed to remind myself how I got here!

Yes, it is open -- the good, the bad and the ugly :-)

My list was actually "hard copy" from a gym, but just from Googling here's a list that looks pretty similar to what I was using: http://www.glycemicgourmet.com/glycemic-index-table.html (the ones with the "dots" are little-to-no blood sugar impact) Here's another list that looks good:…

Good call; I thought about mentioning that in here, but it didn't quite make my top 10 because I added in lifting "on top" and had weight loss momentum before and after I was lifting. I did strength training for 3-4 months on top of my cardio and eating right, and I am sure it really helped to accelerate my losses. I would…

Ohhh, that's one I haven't tried before - and I love shrimp! Thanks!

I am seriously going to try both of those tips! I have an immersion/stick blender which makes it so easy to make soup, and I love the tip of squash making a fake-out creamy base! :-)

Oh I'm so glad that some people have read this and feel like it will help!! GO GET 'EM!! :-)
-
AWESOME! You look so wonderful! Congratulations :-)
-
SO INSPIRING!! I am 5'7 too and 31lbs into my journey.....thank you so much for sharing.

I'm obsessed with Pink Lady, and I just discovered Jazz Apples and those are pretty good as a 2nd place. Honeycrisp is popular, but it's way too sugary-sweet for me.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You look amazing! Super inspirational, seriously.

I just had my 1,000+ workout day yesterday!!! Don't you feel like a superhero? I did! :-) I did 65 minutes on the elliptical at the gym, and then recovered a bit while I did a quick stop to get some groceries. I got home, had half a protein shake, and then went into Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. What a great day!

YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!!! That is SO inspiring! I started at 203 and have lost -26lbs -- looking at your progress totally motivates me. If you have time, send me a message and please share any tips of what you did that you think really helped you along! I'm 13 weeks in, would love to keep it going for 7 months.

I hear ya!! It's tough, and I really have cut back on my drinking since I started MFP. You're right -- it's the double-whammy of the alcohol calories + the lower inhibitions with eating anything that sounds good when you are a bit tipsy! I think the posts about just enjoying and making it up for it before/after are great.…

For me, low-glycemic is a better answer than low-carb. Low Glycemic basically makes you avoid simple carbs, but still eat good low glycemic fruits (blueberries, apples, etc.). The reason it works for me is because it keeps my blood sugar balanced and I don't get crazy cravings or swings in my hunger level. I'm at 1280…

I have been thinking about starting it this week too! I'm a bit nervous because I'm recovering from a broken toe (nervous about the impact from the jumping jacks etc.) but this thread is making me want to try it!! Maybe tomorrow or Wednesday? I already bought my mat and weights over the weekend, I've been trying to…

I'm interested in the responses to this, as I'm definitely doing the same thing. I don't "store up" for more than 2 days in a row before a splurge, but for example: it's been pretty common for me to workout on a Thursday and Friday, burning ~600-675 calories and not eating them back, but then working out also on Saturday…

BeatBurn -- it's like having a personal trainer for your cardio

My new obsession: 1 container of Kroger Carbmaster Vanilla Yogurt 1/3c Pumpkin Puree (from a can) - sometimes I go up to a 1/2c Pumpkin Pie Spice to taste. Stir together. YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, when I need a low-cal meal, I run to my 100% Liquid Egg Whites. Seriously so low calorie, I typically use a 1/2c (8T) and load up with sauteed onions + red/green peppers, or onions + zucchini, or green chiles + salsa, and I always add in 1-2c of spinach because it wilts down to be so tiny and adds so much…

Welcome! I live on the Phoenix/Scottsdale border too (I live in north Phoenix, around the 51 and Union Hills). My favorite trail is Pinnacle Peak, which is pretty far north but I think very gorgeous and worth the little drive.

You look amazing!!!! I'm 5'7 and we have similar starting/end goal weights, but you look PHENOM! Your frame is curvy in the best possible ways, and you looked great before and I'm even more envious of your "after" shot. Way to rock it -- defnitely inspiring for me....

That sounds wonderful -- a paved path for my foot injury, and super reasonably close to me! Thanks for the suggestion!

Great thread!! Very inspiring for someone 7 weeks in (me).

Amerie: "Gotta Work" - amazing beat, groove, and super motivating lyrics "sometimes ya gotta work hard for it" is in the chorus Beyonce: "Get Me Bodied" - ditto, great beat/rhythm and lyrics, including chorus "a little sweat ain't ever hurt nobody" :-)

I hit a plateau around that time as well. It sounds counter-intuitive, but I went on vacation and didn't weigh myself for a week and a half. Tried to make good choices, but relaxed my eating quite a bit. When I got back, I had lost 2lbs and got back to a solid 1-2 lb/week loss. I've heard the 3-4 week mark is a common time…

Good call, I definitely should have mentioned that part!! But a $3.99 one-time payment for what's essentially a cardio personal trainer still feels very cool too me. Or maybe I'm just excited about my shiny new toy ;-) It looks like it's just available for iTunes/Apple right now, but the interface is so easy-to-use and the…

I'm downloading that BeatBurn app right now, it sounds great! My trick is that I used VEVO (there's an app and a web site; the web site is sometimes easier for setup) to create a music VIDEO playlist. I love it! I made a playlist with 50 videos on it, and I pick videos that have fast beats but also lot's of skin and…

Love this idea! I'd like to add some friends with similar stats/goals to get food diary ideas and inspiration. I'm 5'7, 30 years old. SW: 203 CW: 192 GW: 180 initially, after that......who knows? I've lost 11lbs since July 23 (and my goal was the first 10lbs by October and then the 2nd 10lbs by Christmas, so my progress…
