  • I am 45 and run 3 to 4 times a week. My knees bug me a bit also, my doctor recommended something so simple... Fish Oil .. and glucosamine. I figured I would try the fish oil since its OTC and I want to keep running. Its helped a ton. I am not going to play the doctor here, but it worked for me. I haven't tried with the…
  • If you don't take breaks during it, you rule! After a few weeks in, you will rip through cardio, kenpo. Plyo on the other hand.... I don't think that I ever did not have to pause in the middle and I have done it three or four times. P90x2 .... final phase for me.
  • Yes, in phase 3, liking parts of it better than p90x, but definately missing parts of it.

  • P90x is awesome (completed it a few times myself)... make sure its the right routine for you though... tough time commitments with that one. If you are commited, rock it out!
  • You sound like you are beating yourself up in your post (might be the way I am reading it). 25lbs is awesome!
  • Congratulations on C25K! Seriously... everyone is going to run at a different pace. It has many factors that play into that, stride length, cardio vasular fitness... and to be honest... how you run... some people are born sprinters others... trotters. I can run at 10mph... but I can't sustain it.. but I can run at 6mph all…
  • I wouldn't believe the reviews. I have yet to hear anyone rave about their success with African Mango... and I have spoken in RL with a lot of people who have tried it. If anyone has a success story that doesn't involve totally changing your eating and exercise habits, I am listening.
  • Ha. You're a parent... you must not have gotten the memo that you are suppose to be tired. My kids are older now, but when they were in that crawling phase, I was napping all the time... and felt tired all the time. Are you getting up in the middle of the night? I am sure that all the parents will chime in here...…
  • I am not a dietician, so before someone goes and shoots me in the face over this... don't. I noticed that 55% of your calories are coming from carbs. Everyone loves carbs, but generally when trying to increase mass and reduce fat, the goal is to increase your proteins to a level that is equal or greater that your carb…
  • Take those old habits and throw them out. Don't turn on the TV to watch TV. Don't allow yourself to park on the couch before exercising. I always just eat something on the way home...and before I do anything at home, I go exercise... then I can laze around all evening and not have that guilty remorse hanging over my head.
  • As sad as you might be about potentially not making 30lbs... congratulate yourself for 23lbs.. and probably multiple inches! It probably didn't take 90 days to put on the 30lbs.. and probably isn't realistic to take 30lbs off in 90 days. Its great to set goals! Maybe you can adjust this one to 120 days.
  • There are a ton of NSV's in p90x. I said the same thing when I first did it. There wasn't a huge weight change... but there was a significant body change. There was a prior question about how long does it take to see the changes? You will see changes in your 30 day photos. Now you won't go from flab to ripped in 30 days...…
  • The only real downer about Milk is the sugar it contains (natural or not).
  • He was probably compensating for his lack of having a life. I often wonder where these people come from. Since when is it other peoples job to feel that they need to police everyone else?
  • http://www.sports-tracker.com/ has a great iphone/droid app that automatically tracks for you. If you have a bluetooth HRM that works with your phone you can even get an accurate HRM readout and Calorie count. It uses google maps to show where you ran and keeps a dairy for each run (or cycle.. etc).

  • I jumped from p90x (3 passes) to Chalean Extreme. Its nice to regain some of your life back. Its not as intense as p90x but you work just as hard (differently though). I too would recommend doing something different, even if its just to get yourself mentally back into p90x. Great work so far BTW.
  • The difference here is that you care about your children's well being. I think that a majority of people with 'larger' kids either A) don't know that they are feeding them garbage or B) Don't care. I do the shopping in my house and I am surprised weekly what people buy. Call me a food snob. Its just plain rude and uncalled…
  • I send the kids to my mothers house for a week :).
  • How about, 'Actually my life will probably be longer because of the choices that I am making (Tub-O)!' (this part is optional, depends on how pissed you are for someone telling you that)). :)
  • If you are cooking more than one serving at a time, weigh it out, cook it and put it all in a measuring cup. Divide it back down to one serving..... then you won't have to measure it precook weight again. For example. If I cook 8oz and the total volume is 2 cups, I know that 2 oz is a 1/4 cup. So when cooking for a family…
  • Favorite, Core Synergistics... its do able and you sweat like a dog.. it just gets you all over. Plyo is brutal. I have done 90x 3 times.. its still brutal. Back and Bicep just fries your arms. To be honest. The only thing really lacking in 90x is more legs. Comment on Kenpo: I can't stand Wesley... him and his damn…
  • Its all about what takes priority in your life? Everyone has commitments and responsibilities. I don't even turn on the tv anymore. Its easy to sit down for three hours and find something entertaining to watch. Write down where all your time is going and remove what doesn't add value to your life.
  • Heart Rate Monitors are a billion times more accurate for you than any web site. If you bike as fast as you can for an hour vs casual biking for an hour is going to give a different burn rate (other factors affect that also.... fitness level... sleep... etc). All sites are going to average everything to the middle.
  • Bump! Anyone else care to chime in on their experience?
  • Okay... here is some feed back. I ended up trying two miracle pills. I took PES Erase for thirty days. I didn't really see anything signifant in taking these pills, except feeling more dehydrated. African Mango (Eden's African Mango Extreme). I have about 4 more days left (of a 30 day pack). I have been taking it 2 times a…
  • Just an FYI. Chalean Extreme (beach body) is about 30 to 50 minutes 5 days a week. Its right in that calorie range, can be done at home, low impact, and requires little investment (weights/discs) upfront. Its a great routine for beginners and a good routine for maintenance (for those who are already there). I ended up…
  • IMHO, time is your friend. Be consistent in your workouts, make them intense. For me, over the last 20 years, I have put on pounds. If it takes a year or so to get to my 'ideal' weight is that really so bad? Better to be moving down then up. Looks like you are doing fine according to your ticker. I concur with the BMI…
  • Well, my story goes like this. I was feeling a ton of stress and aggression at work. I was looking for something that would help burn it off, and so my first pass of 90x did that. I really didn't watch what I was eating (not that my diet was horrid)... so I decided to do a second pass and tried to work more on my diet.…
  • I totally concur with this post. Parents need to lead by example. A child when given a choice of candy vs something healthy will generally choose the unhealthy choice. The same for video games vs riding a bike. Hey, who doesn't like a good video game? In most of the cases I have seen, it isn't that the parent doesn't care…
  • p90 has a lower time commitment too it. It IMHO is more repetative, but still effective. p90x has a big time commitment to it, but if you can commit, you will see significant changes in 90 days. At the end of the day, p90x can be done by just about anyone if they modify the exercises. I have done 90x three times.... now…
