How do you find what you enjoy as far as exercise? I freaking hate it all. It's boring as hell. It doesn't seem like they make classes for people who aren't already fit, it's embarrassing to not be able to continue or keep up.

/Whoooosh That would be the satire train flying by. Now, I will explain. The point was that someone with flaws (poor grammar) was harshly critisizing someone else with flaws (obesity). I used a style similar to the language of the poster but inserted one of her obvious flaws in place of the one she was upset about. It was…

You know what I find really disgusting to look at? Terrible grammar. I find it gross, it makes message boards more difficult to read for the rest of us that have worked so hard to have good grammar, and it is costing me additional tax dollars because when children see adults using bad grammar they think it is OK and…

I would try, but I don't have a PhD in chemistry, so I'm not sure that I'd understand it!

I almost spit out my coffee on this one. Thanks for the laugh!

I have had the same problem! I'm a good cook, but didn't used to do much with veggies (partly because I don't enjoy them as much as other things). I try to 'hide' them a bit, as others have suggested. For example, if making mashed potatoes, replace half of the potatoes with cauliflower. It tastes the same, adds extra…

OMG, my husband is the same way and it's frustrating. Since I make all the meals in the house, he basically eats what I eat these days. If I lose 2 pounds, he loses 5 and he really doesn't need to lose any! GRRRRRRR

I struggle with this same thing, but with food. I have learned that I have very little control when good food is placed in front of me. If I go to a Mexican restaurant, planning on eating a certain amount of chips and salsa (fitting it into my daily plan), I will almost always over eat.

I love variety in my lunches, so hubby got me these great Rubbermaid stackable lunch containers. They come in all sizes and allow you to take a bunch of different items in small portions. I especially love the sandwich and salad containers. They allow you to separate wet and dry ingredients, so you can have a yummy…

This gif actually made me laugh out loud. Thanks!

Oh man, there are so many quick, easy, low calorie meals that you should never feel bored! I use a recipe/meal planning app called Food Planner. You save recipes into it from the web or add your own. Then, you select recipes to plan for meals each day. You can also tag recipes for easier searching. For example, this is…

One thing that works for me is getting a bit of something I want and having a salad with it. For example, order an appetizer that sounds good with a house salad. Be careful with the entree salads, though. Some of those clock in at over 1000 calories!

I LOVE fruit! Many types are very low in calories, particularly some types of berries. If I remember correctly, you can have a whole cup of blueberries for about 60 calories. Filling and a nice, sweet treat!

I would choose the short ribs. Beef is not bad for you, as long as you don't over indulge. Braising liquids are usually some type of stock with some aromatics and possibly wine.

A trick I learned on here for identifying hunger versus a desire to eat...imagine a bunch of celery. Do I want to eat this celery? Yes? I'm hungry. No? Not so much.
-
This is a great topic! I struggle with this, as well. A trick I learned here a while ago was to think of some celery sticks. If I am hungry enough to eat those, then I am actually hungry. If not, it's mental. Sometimes recognizing that it's truly mental makes the cravings go away. It's like the villian in the cartoons, as…

I like the last poster's ideas of cooking fruit with meat. It's one of my favorites! I love a sweet/savory combo. I'm not a huge fan of many veggies, either, so one of the things I do is try to include them with foods I do like. I add lettuce to every sandwich, or veggies to pizza or burgers. One thing I love to do (since…

See, I bet you lost, like, 5 pounds right there!

Correlation does not equal causation. It's also true that French people tend to weigh less than Americans. So, speaking French makes you lose weight!

There are lots of options for making the meals you cook healthier. Just for example, the other night I made cauliflower fritters from a recipe that I found on Skinny Taste. They were delicious and my husband didn't even know that they were cauliflower! He thought they were potato. When cooking, focus on making small…

I love all these ideas! Keep em coming!

This. It is a huge help if you can cook. If you don't know how, start looking around at some websites or books. I have a HUGE lunch everyday that clocks in at just over 300 calories. I have a sandwich with 45 calorie bread, 1 ounce of ham, 1 TBL of mayo, lettuce, and 1 wedge of light Laughing Cow Swiss cheese. I have a big…

As far as cooking goes, I'm in a similar boat to your BF. I consider myself a pretty talented amateur cook and have considered switching careers to culinary. When I started eating healthier, I took it on as a challenge. Could I make food that tasted great but was also healthy? See, I'm a person who has always and still…

I see what you did there.

Love it. As a recent Somecards suggested, "I'm sorry you base your diet on what people who hadn't even invented the wheel ate."

Thanks for Gerbe and Sekera, they're working out quite nicely in Raleigh.
