Fried fish vs. Braised short ribs?

Options
I have to attend a business dinner and am trying to chose the healthiest (less calories and fat) option on the menu. In your opinion, which is a better choice:
(1) Trout Almondine (trout fried in lots of butter plus almonds) or
(2) Braised short ribs?

I'm not a big fan of either dish, have no preferences. But I've been trying to lose weight and have been counting calories diligently. Thank you!

I would choose the short ribs. Beef is not bad for you, as long as you don't over indulge. Braising liquids are usually some type of stock with some aromatics and possibly wine.

I would get both if I could....otherwise too difficult of a decision...both are pretty awesome. If pressed I would probably go with the short ribs though...

I think I'm going to make short ribs for our Saturday evening company...thanks for the idea.

I am going to assume that they both have fairly similar caloric/fat value. Even though its trout, its over coated in a little flour and soaked in butter. I would get either. No one said you had to eat the whole thing, and it you do, who cares? Maybe they will have some amazing sides!!

Yes I'm leaning towards ribs as well. My logic is that trout is already fatter fish, plus all the flour and butter and sauce... Sauce is the devil when it comes to calorie counting

When you look at the data below, realize that the short ribs portion has bones, so it is larger. Based on calories, grams of fat, and a variety of other factors, I'd contact the caterer and ask for plain broiled trout due to dietary reasons. Good luck.
