Doing a review of my HRM data I found I may have combined TWO readings for my total, I think I'm going to revise my number to 2900.... not sure exactly what happened but I think I just forgot to erase my HRM data from the previous workout....

Good point on the age factor, I was so active when I was 19 I didn't need to worry about it but over time if you don't make a concerted effort that activity can wane over time....
-
I see what you mean now< if I normally do activity BUT have my settings set to sedentary ...it's cheating the process of calculation in the MFP system regardless if I am actually burning those calories.... That is what I wanted to know Thanks! :)

Interesting replies so far, I see a pattern let's see if it continues...

I was actually covering a local event on foot in 90 degree heat and had quite a bit of gear, as far as I know my HRM is accurate and I have calibrated it, you have to remember that this is over an extended period of time so if you break it down into hour long chunks it's a more reasonable a number.... I do P90X and I can…

I burned 5225 calories today over a six hour period, that averages out to about 870 calories per hour.... so it's not out of the question that you can burn 1,000 an hour.

If it's calibrated correctly many people don't calibrate their HRM's before use and that can skew the results, most have input data that includes weight and height and some have age and other information if that is not calibrated correctly it can result in false readings...

I always throw a clean lemon wedge in my water bottle, gives a little flavor and helps keep the bottle clean!

Over 6 hours I burned 5225 calories today covering a local festival, temps in the 90's helped and walking with around 40 pounds of camera gear didn't hurt either, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Wore an HRM the entire time, readings varied from lows in the 90's to highs of over 170 BPM at times. Not sure what the mileage was…

That's sounds good, sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Tell your brother in law welcome home for me!

I have the same problem running just gets boring, that's why running to cadence can be helpful. I also think the environment in which you run can motivate you as well, choose locations that offer either natural beauty or just personal interest....set way-points along the way to help conquer mini goals during your run,…

Drink water it sounds counter intuitive but drinking more water helps you get rid of excess fluid....

I contacted them about this gap in their database and they said that they are working on adding these exercise programs but had no idea when they would be available...

Highly recommend Polar products they are reliable and reasonably priced, if you want to spend more there are top of the line choices also but I have been more than happy with the one I have.... the only detraction is the chest strap that can be annoying but it's not that big of a deal. Good luck!

Just one, WEAR a helmet! Even short falls can cause big injuries, protect that melon! :)

In some things you actually do get what you pay for, HRM's fit this model some are worthless as real tools for tracking, Polar is a probably the most reliable for the money, they are reasonably priced and accurate. If you think about it this is basically a medical device that has a specific task to accomplish that requires…

A compliment can be taken in any way you CHOOSE to take it, if you know it was meant as a compliment take it as a positive.

Yeah trails are great until nature decides to reach out and remind you that she's in charge... take a day off, you deserve it!

No pain no gain! :) sorry had to do it, glad you weren't mauled by the tree or the kids!

I think this is an untapped resource that could be huge if the hardware was more user friendly and accurate, I think the Next Gen of Kinect should fix these flaws and it should enable a whole new generation of fitness possibilities....that's the hope anyway! I would much rather do P90X through my X-Box than on the…

Give it time, if you rush it you could injure yourself, patience is usually all it takes to conquer some obstacles. Good luck!

I contacted them about P90X not being available and they said that they are working on adding "several" exercises to their database, I'm not sure if this is a legal issue or a logistics one but they did say they are working on it.... it would be a nice addition and make things much more user friendly for those of us who…

Polar, Sportline and Mio are a few of the brands, they should be available in most sports stores or at Best Buy or Walmart.... online is always an option also, I have a Polar that has a chest strap they are must have devices for serious fitness tracking not only for keeping track of calories burned but also as a safety…

Polar is a very reliable brand they have many different styles and options but I would say they have the best line up...

as far as sweating goes everyone is different some people sweat at the drop of a hat and others really need to work up one, over time it will become clear which camp you are in and most likely you will be somewhere in the middle....
-
You could wear an HRM and just keep track of calories burned, with that kind of physical labor I'm sure it would be worth it. I'm not sure just wearing a pedometer would do you justice with the lifting and carrying aspect...hope that helps.

Exercise programs like P90X aren't quick fixes they take effort and dedication, expecting results in such a short amount of time is unrealistic. Just keep with it and you will see results! You can always change up the order of the routine to add some variety if you are getting bored but stick with it ...you may be…
