I'm a diabetic (since I was a kid) and my old medicine was making me gain weight once I hit 30. I am on something new, finally after putting on weight for 7 years and have been able to lose 14 lbs in the last 6 months and I am so cold all of the time now too.

Here is what I did. I was pretty athletic. Then I got sick...I was diagnosed with Lupus. I have been in full remission - no medication or anything - for nearly a year. I went straight back to the gym and did a few challenges to bring back my muscles. But since you are starting out - you want to build your own strength back…

That is a very good weight! You could even gain 10 pounds and still be WELL within BMI standards. Enjoy your vacation.

Two cookies isn't that big a deal. You can always burn it off doing some fun activity.

35, 19 more pounds to lose. I'm always looking to add more motivating people :) Add me if you'd like!

Use a pacer. It will count your calories but it will also motivate you to walk those 10,000 steps a day and more.

count me in!

20 pounds is my goal! Add me

I eat breakfast, but usually not for at least 2 hours after I get up. I think eat when you are hungry is a good rule of thumb...as opposed to a specific time.
-
Feel free to add me. 35 - looking to lose 20 pounds

I am also a teacher. I feel your pain. I actually find that when I work out, I have more energy to finish my work for the night and am much better the next day. Feel free to ad me.

Star Trek, Star Wars, Superman, DC in general, Marvel as well. LOTR, GOT aka ASOIAF, Sherlock and tons of BBC America among others. My goal is to drop 20 pounds. I was always pretty fit and slim but once I hit my 30s it got harder. I am doing a Spartan Race in September with a bunch of younger folk from my job. Gotta keep…

Feel free to ad me. I am currently in training for an Obstacle Course race. I gained some weight after an injury last year but have already lost that and am working towards my original goal again.
-
I am on Week 3 - but I am doing it accelerated - more like 2 weeks in 1, since I have the experience and am in training for a race in September. I notice it's really good for interval training and calorie burning. Add me if you would like!

I can understand that. But two things to note. 1 - for a woman a dress size matters way more than pants because we got hips! 2- I have an event to go to and non of my dresses fit nicely so I had to go and get the next size down. I stick to the same clothing store also.
-
Yes, which is why I shop at the same clothing store all the time, so that I can compare their sizes to each other. And yes my clothes don't fit me which is why I was at the store ;)

I usually end up being under calorie goal if I have exercised. So it can be a good thing. Unless you go below 1200 - then you could be hurting yourself.
-
Awesome post! Can I friend you...I need your kind of thinking!

If you eat 1500 calories and exercised 300 of those, then it's like eating 1200 calories and not doing anything. It evens out. However if you eat only 1200 calories and then exercise so that your calories end up being less than 1200 - that is dangerous. You need 1200 calories just to function with normal body activities…

Depending on how often you exercise, you can probably bring your intake up to 2000 calories a day to maintain level. If you eat less you might continue to lose weight. Lower than 2000 if you didn't work out that day. Keep using the food diary, that way you can be sure you aren't going overboard. I find this website to be…

I am 5'6.5" and weight 158. Depending on my work schedule I am either active all day or sitting all day. When I was 30 pounds heavier I was eating 1200 calories a day. Now that I am less than 20 pounds away from my goals I increased by calories to 1460 - based on losing one pound per week using MFP calculation. The reason…

Thanks, things make much more sense now.
-
Interesting! Thanks.
-
Ah, that's something to keep in mind. I may bring weights next time I run the track. Thanks.

1200 may be too low. After I lost 30 pounds I changed my calorie intake to 1400/1500. Some days I eat back my exercise, some days I don't. The more weight you want to lose the less calories you will want to eat. But you should never eat less than 1200. You have to think about why you want to lose the weight. Now that I am…

Yes. I am 5'6.5" and weigh 158.

One of the first things I noticed when I hit the 10% goal (losing 10% of body weight) was that I could walk in heels without pain. I hadn't realized how much 30 pounds was really killing my feet.
-
I just want to be able to walk around and feel lighter. I also want people to stop asking me if I am pregnant. My belly pops out, I seem to carry all my extra weight there! It's strange, you can't really see it from the front since I lost 30 lbs but when I turn to the side it looks like I'm 4 months preggars. Granted I…

Yes! When I wear a dress or a skirt by belly doesn't puff out as much as when I wear pants. So annoying!
