Breakfast or no?

1.) I consider my first meal of the day to be my breakfast, even if said meal is eaten at 2 PM. So, yes (in case you're curious, I do all of my workouts fasted).
2.) I've lost 5 lbs. (not trying to lose anymore)
3.) I've never researched it and I don't really care, honestly.0 -
1.) Do you eat breakfast? Yes, every day.
2.) How much weight have you lost? 115 pounds
3.) Personally, do you think breakfast helps w/ metabolism or no? Why? Have no ideal.0 -
1) I always eat breakfast
2) just a tad over 10 pounds lost this round. I had lost 40 before but stopped working out and watching what I ate.
3) I couldn't say what effect it has on my metabolism. The few times I haven't eaten breakfast, I'm near brain dead by noon.0 -
Just a curious poll.

1) Only sometimes during the week, I don't like eating early. At the weekends, I do but it can sometimes be near lunch time.
2) 13lbs so far :-)
3) Not sure, but whenever I have breakfast early it makes my stomach rumble sooner than if I don't have breakfast at all.0 -

2. 30lbs
3. With my lifestyle, my appetite, I would say yes.
"Why?"- developing habits, keeping energy level up until I can grab lunch. And I am hypothyriod, so metabolism is already a challenge.0 -

1. I usually skip breakfast
2. I'm trying to gain weight
3. Don't know0 -
1 - Not usually. We are night owls, and usually eat lunch around 2 or 3, usually don't eat breakfast at all. Sometimes we will make a special date out for it, but very rarely.
2 - 80 lbs since I started last June
3 - Nope. Meal timing doesn't matter. I fast until 6 pm on days I work and then eat from 6 pm to 2 am, usually go to bed around 3 am. On my days off, I don't eat until I have a protein shake after my workout.0 -
Always eat breakfast. Would be eating my planner at work if I didn't.
made me laugh!!0 -
i pretty much always eat breakfast, but that's cos i love breakfast type food. I've gone periods without eating breakfast and honestly im about as hungry by the time it comes to lunch either way, so if i knew i was having a big dinner or whatever i'd probably just go without. i've lost 30lbs, don't think it matters whether or not you eat breakfast (or what you eat for it) as long as you're not going over your calorie goal, so just do what works best.0

I eat breakfast, but usually not for at least 2 hours after I get up. I think eat when you are hungry is a good rule of thumb...as opposed to a specific time.0

1 - No.
2 - 28 pounds on MFP; 60 total.
3 - No.0 -
1) Every day
2) 60lbs from my biggest
3) A lot of times I'm not that hungry in the morning when I first wake up, but if I don't eat breakfast, I find myself dragging by 10/10:30am and I get a REALLY bad case of hangry. Breakfast (anything between 250-400 calories, depending on the day) happens at about 6 or 6:30 during the school year, then a snack (200 calories or less) around 10am, lunch (400-500 calories) whenever I can cram it in, and dinner (600-800 calories, depending on the dinner) by 8pm, sometimes with another snack under 200 calories between lunch and dinner.
But as some people have already said, your metabolism is unique. As a general rule, it's a good idea to eat breakfast so you can balance out your hunger cycles/keep your metabolism from crashing, but there is some research out there that says skipping breakfast is okay for weight loss because all that matters are calories in versus calories out.
Try having breakfast every day for at least two weeks around the same time every morning and see how you feel/how much weight you lose, then do your own thing for two weeks and compare.0 -
1) No, I don't eat breakfast, and haven't since my early teens. For some reason, eating right away upon waking upsets my stomach. (Which, incidentally means I can't drink coffee in the mornings either, because I like it strong, and if I drink coffee on an empty stomach, that *also* makes my stomach unhappy. Sad, because I love coffee.)
2) This time around? 22 pounds so far.
3) I am assuming no, based on various articles I've read and personal experience... But since I'm not a scientist, I'm not 100% certain.0 -
ALWAYS eat breakfast==with some protein--helps maintain my blood sugar at a constant level
Ive lost 33 lbs
Don't always eat lunch usually just a carb/protein snack0 -
1. I don't eat my first meal until around 11 or 12 and I make it a good one that's loaded with protein and it keeps me full for hours until my next larger meal.
2. 80 lbs lost. Been maintaining easily for over one year.
3. No. I just enjoy eating 2 larger, bigger meals instead of snacking all day. Just my preference. Try difference things and see how your body reacts.0 -
1) Yes
2) 78lb's lost
3) I don't really know the science all I know is my personal experience. And that's that I am no good to anyone till I've had my god damn cereal. It may not kick start my metabolism but if I don't have breakfast I will just be a pile of mush till around 10:30.0 -
