  • Im in, prepare to be decimated by the Geordie Tour De Force!
  • Oh and when I was younger I split my head open 3 times just messing about on my feet, I really didnt enjoy the stitches or the amount of blood so if Im a liability on my feet Im damned sure Im wearing one on wheels when there are blind fools operating 2 ton vehicles around me! Wear a helmet, it may not be 100% safe or…
  • Yes I wear one all the time, I look stupid but my head is reasonably important to me! A bike helmet saved my friends dad while on a biking holiday and I have witnessed a couple of mates go over the handlebars in the woods on red trails and if you saw the state of their legs you would understand why they didnt want it to…
  • of course not! nor will she as Im telling her its from Halfrauds
  • I had an old chap over take 20 yards from a junction on the left and he proceeded to turn left as he passed me on saturday. Its scary how little attention and care drivers have on the road, the best thing I ever did was to ride on the road as now I adhere to the limits and give far more space and time than perhaps I…

  • Congratulations! I took up cycling last june and quite smoking in the August after someone asked me if I needed an ambulance after cycling up a hill! Now I dont even think about it and I cant stand the smell off smokers, even 10 ft away they stink to high heavan!!! Good luck and keep it up!
  • Yep Im from a little country called Geordieland, North of England :)
  • Yep, in addition to my cycling Im doing the couch to 5k plan, already done 2 - 2.5 mile run/jogs and will be returning to the plan this coming week :) PS I run like Phoebe off of Friends (or I think I do in my head while Im out there!) Good luck!!
  • I think kudos are earned for going above and beyond, however sometimes just making the consistent effort deserves it. Also occasionally I give kudos to people for inspiring and motivating me to make an effort!
  • Very interesting article indeed, I have experienced both sides of the coin - Motorists that are ignorant of the rights of cyclists (which essentially are exactly the same as motorists but they don think so) and cyclists that are ignorant of the rules of the road, many times I have stopped at traffic lights to see another…
  • Really? :noway:
  • ^^ Listen to hatsdown, I'm now more addicted to exercise than I was to smoking, 3 months ciggy free now thanks to cycling :), Good luck
  • Hey Guys n Gals, Just joined the group and thought Id share one of my recent rides in Northumberland; mixed on and off road the ride was based on a route by Derek Purdy, the route takes you through beautiful scenery but hits you with steep climbs and some very tough terrain! Fields, bulls, cobbles and a ford with a tiny…
  • Hi mate, I use my iphone and a Garmin 500 which doesnt have turn by turn but is excellent non-the less. I use the iphone with multimap for direction finding if needed and the Garmin Edge 500 for HRM, speed, cadence and breadcrumb navigation. It is a lot more cost effective than the 800 (half the price) and does pretty much…
  • You won't fail :o) "do or do not, there is no try" - Yoda! When I hit my target I'm getting a carbon road bike :) and I'm about half way there now :o)
  • << I was watching my mate on the para sail in 30 mph winds and worrying because it was my go next......I was right to worry, he gave me control and just said hold on, 1 minute later I was promptly whipped into the air and firmly dumped face down into the sand after being dragged 30ft!
  • A few curves are the way to go, curves are always better than straight lines. Im a photographer and there's nothing more boring than straight lines, lighting curves and form is far more fun and creative :o)
  • For me its just dumbells, exercise bike and the wife chasing me after being cheeky :)
  • Nice one mate, I had to buy a new suit for an event at the house of commons last week as my previous trousers just dropped round my ankles!!! I was pleased but I had only bought the suit 2 months ago and it wasn't cheap!!! Keep it up man :)
  • Hey , Im exactly the same, 3 months ago I bought a mountain bike and recently a road bike. Ive just completed 500 miles and lost 15 lbs (I lost 5 lbs before discovering MFP), my friends and I are out almost every night and I have a short circuit I do in 20 minutes including a 150 ft hill climb if Im pushed for time. I also…
  • Chin up mate, I suffer from terrible depression and didnt leave the house for a year.....strangely the first night I went out (christmas eve) I met my amazing wife!!! Fate maybe? I dont know but it shows that things just happen sometimes...All it took was a smile from her and five years on she deserves a medal for putting…
  • I heard a great saying the other day..... "We can all be A** holes at times, but a prick will always be a prick" Those that suck all the time are clearly the latter :)
