Hey Carol, welcome!
-
I am in Los Angeles.

I do well with metformin, now that I have the correct dosage. I was on a really high dose at one time that gave me severe diarrhea. It takes time for the metformin to buildup in your system, and you still have to watch what you eat even though you are on metformin.

Everyone is different. Phentermine did not work well for me. But it may work great for you. I hated the way it made me feel. There were moments I literally was so angry I could flip a truck for virtually not reason. I still have a bottle in the drawer. I won't touch the stuff ever again.

I agree with Dragonwolf, ignore the scale and continue doing what you are doing. Heavy lifting is a must for women with PCOS.

I use Twinlabs Liquid Super B Complex, which has all of the essentials: B6, B12, etc.

@boxem180 is dead on! Carbs must be accompanied by protein! But I want you ladies to keep something in mind. PCOS is an excess of estrogen, this causes an increase in cortisol, and a decrease in progesterone which is why women affected by PCOS typically have larger stubborn "bellies". Progesterone balances estrogen and…

Sorry, I haven't tried Dianette. That PCOS depression is a beast though, so fight it with all you've got! Maybe try to submerge yourself it into your workouts. That is what gets me through.

Welcome kandee! I'm in CA as well and completely understand what you are going through. Went through it myself. Feel free to hit me up if you have any workout or any other questions.
-
When I was on it, yes, it made me exhausted. Like I had to drag myself out of bed.
-
Awesome for you! Congrats!

I am trying this training I found on Bodybuilding.com by Dr. Jim Stoppani which is a cardio & weight training, high intensity, where you do 100 reps per exercise with much less weight, so I am anxious to see the changes this helps me make in my physique. Everyone can feel free to add me to their friends. I will also add…

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

Hi All! My name is Kanita, and I would like to lose another 60lbs. I am back in the gym, and if I don't go to the gym, I workout at home. I am really into weight training, and recovering from a recent hysterectomy, and years of steroid therapy. So needless to say, I am working on a complete health overhaul.
-
It definitely is a very difficult decision, and I wish you luck on the 8th. My surgery last week was complicated, but I made it through, and I now realize that it was the best thing for me to do. I too wanted to be a mom soooo bad, and it seems since my surgery, I see nothing but pregnant women or lots of children. But I…

I really appreciate this honest description. I not only have Endometriosis, but I also have Adenomya, a tumor in the lining of my uterus, Complex Hyperplasia with Atipia, which is pre-cancer. I have had 6 blood transfusions this year alone, and yes, there are days where Aleve is taken morning and nightly to cope. I have…

Thank you everyone!

I too am on Metformin for my PCOS. Monday I will be having a hysterectomy because of my battle with endometrial cancer, but because they are leaving the ovaries, I will still have to deal with the PCOS. 1. Ask for an Internal Ultrasound so that they can look and see if you have PCOS on the spot as it will be clear and…

Very few of us come from Africa directly. I personally use the term Black Latina to describe myself. I don't feel the need for the Afro or African prefix.
-
Those of us from the Dominican or Panama or any of the Latin Countries are still of African decent and were brought over on the same slave ships. "Same ship different stop" is what my grandfather used to say. My family comes from Panama, and some of us use the term Afro Latino and some say Black Latino.

AWESOME!!!!

It is definitely a struggle, but one that you can overcome, just don't quit!
-
I am what many call a "Black Latina", my mother's family hails from Panama, Central America, and it has always been a struggle culturally for me in that black people didn't see me as being "Black enough", and Latinos assume I am African American, until they hear me speaking Spanish, then of course they want to pat me on…

I got new training shoes!

What is the $300 misc going on? Also, where is your dividend check of $300 going? You can save money on any budget.

I am so happy to have found you all! I was diagnosed with PCOS in December, and am on an abnormally high dose of hormones, after having been on a super high dose of steroids (I also have a tumor, and was diagnosed with endometrial cancer so I am on the hormone therapy). No one I know seems to know what PCOS is or…

You're doing so great so far!
