  • Hi, yes the Nooitgedaght is one of 4 South African breeds. They are well adjusted to our SA climate and tough terrain, very hardy, extremely versatile and are selected for temperament. They are really awesome horses to work with and has a inbred affinity towards people.
  • I'm from Tulbagh in South Africa. It is a tiny rural town in a beautiful valley where lots of fruit and grapes (and wine) is produced. We have summer now and temperatures went up to 40 degrees Celcius. If you ever visit SA, you have to visit our historic little town.
  • Yeah, my hubby is not a rider himself, but super supportive and has learnt a lot about horses through the years.
  • Hi, I have no clue how to upload pics to the post! But I've got 3 boys, a 21 year old saddler gelding, a 11 year old Nooitgedaght stallion and a 9 year old Nooitgedaght gelding. I've had the two Nooitgedaght boys since birth as I've had their mom. The saddler boy is retired and I've had him since he was 2 years old. I'm…
  • I am a Gr.3 teacher. I have to admit that I spend most of my money on my horses, but at the moment they are more like therapists to me. The riding part is not so important anymore. After school I go straight to my horses and it is like taking a vacation. They keep me sane!
  • You all have amazingly beautiful horses / ponies!
  • I love riding bareback! I do most of my riding bareback. Mostly it's just because I'm too lazy to saddle up and haul my heavy western saddle everywhere. But also because most of the time I go riding without planning it. I go to feed my horses and suddenly feel like popping on and just go for a nice ride. I always have a…
  • I love Tabata style cardio workouts. Install a Tabata timer app. You can do any cardio you like eg. Jumping jacks, rope skipping, burpees, etc. Work for 20 sec as hard as you can, rest 10 sec. Do this 8 times. You can do all 8 rounds the same move or alternate with other moves.
  • Thanks for your replies. I just thought there is some or other scientific explanation for doing this kind of program every now and then. I thought there was something wrong with me for getting bored out of my mind and I should work on my attitude. All the other ladies are asking for a repeat session. But I will definitely…
  • Any Jillian Michaels DVD
  • Try Jillian Michaels's "Killer buns and thighs" as well as "Killer Abs" or even her "6 week 6 pack". It will literally kick your butt!!!
  • I've actually worked out that I can do cardio and bodyweight training without having breakfast - for up to about an hour. But when I include weights, I feel depleted very soon. I usually do my weight training in the afternoons, but then I aldo have to be careful not to train too soon after my last meal / drink - deadlifts…
  • Going to try that! Thanks!
  • I also have a goal of being able to do chin ups / pull ups. I don't have access to any machines, but do have the doorway bar. At the moment I jump and pull myself up as far as I can. How do you do the negative pull up?
  • I love Jillian Michaels' DVD's. It's challenging, but you can follow the modifications to make it easier. The shorter workouts are only 30 min, so you can fit it into a tight schedule. But, it is a tough 30 minutes!! I also like Bob Harper's DVD's, but those are tough!
  • I also do group classes. It takes the form of circuit training, so I just log it as such.
  • I love both! I don't use it continiously, though. If I'm pressed for time, I do Killer Abs. 6 week 6 pack is quite intense and is also a good cardio workout. But I do it about once a week, and not for weeks after each other - I get extremely bored very easily.
  • That's such a great idea. Our local shelter is always looking for people to walk the dogs. If they get leash trained and used to going for walks, they are also more likely to be adopted. I've got 3 staffies (of which two are rescues) and they are very high energy and needs to be walked daily. I love walking with them -…
  • Thanks. He's such a sweetie. Love him to bits.
  • See a physio therapist.
  • When I take a pre workout for my PM gym session, I struggle to fall asleep. I am sensitive to caffeine, so that might explain it.
  • I've done it previously, but wasn't committed to eating right. So I didn't get the results I expected, but I know itcwas entirely my own fault. It is a very good workout, though - not just for core. Level 2 is a good cardio workout too. I did improve my fitness and core strength a lot during that time. I still do it once a…
  • Try any other DVD's from Jillian Michaels. My favourites are Killer Buns and Thighs as well as Killer Abs. Both are 30minute workouts and have 3 different levels, so you can progress or alternate. I also like Ban Fat, Boost Metabolism. You can do all 7 circuits or choose circuirts to make a shorter workout. Same goes for…
  • Towel, waterbottle, gloves.
  • Yeah, my shoulders makes lots of popping noises. I thought it came with age. Should I be worried? I do take joint supplements.
  • Jillian Michaels' "Killer abs" starts at level 1 which is very doable and works up to level 3, which is quite tough. I'm sure you can download it from Youtube. It works your entire midsection, not just abs and also include cardio intervalls to burn the fat.
  • Have you tried his DVD's? They are tough!!! I have Ultimate Cardio, Total Ripped Core and Total Body transformation.
  • Most of the time I just feel as if I'm going to die and I wonder why I do this to myself - there must be easier ways to commit suicide. Afterwards, when I walk out all trembling, red faced and sweaty, I feel good about myself and feel I've accomplished something.
  • Try Jillian Michael's Killer buns and thighs. It will kick your butt, guarenteed.
  • What level did you do? I love the exercises in Level 1, even though I'm not even a beginner. It still kicks my butt!!
