Absolutely, would be a hoot. Still recovering from a weekend bender though so maybe leave a day or two.

I train alone & don't have a spotter. I use the squat rack with safety rails about 1/3 way down in case I can't get back. Leg press has safety pins too. I got a plan done by a trainer so I was more confident & knew what and how much to start lifting.

They breathe, enough said.

Weird despair? Not all, sounds normal to me for anyone with a newborn. I'm sure most mothers felt like this at stage, particularly when sleep deprived and any resilience you had has been eroded. I wonder though if you should talk to a professional (eg doctor, midwife etc) in case it's is something more severe like post…

I started out with a goal of going 3 days a week. Mentally that's about as much as I could commit to at the time. After a few months I found a routine and now go to a gym 9 times a week (some days I do a cardio workout in the morning then do pilates midday). For me, what kept me going was the most awesome zumba class that…

Fat photos of myself totally gross me out - all my unhappiness on display. Some days I feel awesome and slim and other times I still feel fat. I naturally gravitate to larger size clothing still which is normally too big when I try it on - that makes me realize my thoughts and reality aren't quite aligned.

In my 20s I hated the way I was leered at due to having a large chest. Now in my 40s I feel like I'm invisible - kinda sad and pathetic of me really. I've lost half of the weight I want to lose so am in no way slim but I feel awesome and feel great in what I wear. Now if I'm objectified I take it as a compliment for the…

Most recent rewards were massage, tattoo, new workout clothes.

The usual rule is that you need to be in calorie deficit to lose fat but to gain muscle you need calorie surplus. Personally I started strength training straight away and have lost 20kg of fat and gained muscle at the same time. I had quite a bit of fat to lose though so that would make a difference presumably. I wasn't…

I gave in and had cheesecake after dinner last night, felt yuck afterwards, then this morning it was like 'well hello, that's the reason'. Sometimes you just need a bit of whatever it is you fancy.

I love sitting in a café and watching people - wondering what sort of person they are by the what they wear and how they interact, what their life is like etc. I'm often told that I come across hard and unfriendly when in fact I'm the opposite. When I first met my personal trainer I thought he was friendly, knowledgeable…

Conversation with 8yo son this morn. He's so stubborn, infuriating, loud and annoying, funny, adorable, and thoughtful. Drives me insane and I totally adore him.

Things I can wear that were once too tight: necklaces, wedding ring, shoes.

I did FA for 9 months and lost 40kg. It works and I felt great but the amount of work involved equated to a part-time job, ie weighing and measuring EVERYTHING, ringing a sponsor overseas every single day for 15 mins, attending 3 meetings a week, journaling..... Turns out being thin didn't miraculously fix my life! I fell…

It's definitely on there because I log Pilates - its under cardiovascular.

I didn't touch a drop for nearly a year. No great hardship at all. Everybody else had more of a problem with me not drinking than I did.

Zumba coz it's fun but weights coz I love lifting heavy stuff.

Sure. I think we could find something to talk about for 48hrs.

Photos?

Good on you for coming back and putting your health first. Can't stay in denial forever really, unfortunately - stadium seats are pretty unforgiving. You can do it, one day at a time.

What a huge amount of pressure on your family. I commend you on the concern for your son, you are coming from a place of genuine love not anger or resentment. Are there support groups close by or online? Its a difficult situation because he needs support but while he's being enabled he's got no real incentive to change.…

My trainer said this morning he was checking the cameras to see if the squat rack was free, and noticed someone doing squats with really good form, then realized a bit later that it was actually me. Awwwwwwww, thanks. I did a bit of research about squats and it seems to me that people do variations based on their ability…

8 yo son said mum you've just been to the gym - you don't need that caramel slice! (but it's sooooo good).

I hear ya! I can kinda forgive the stranger who asked if I was pregnant (I wasn't) but a colleague I worked with for many years. Come on! Ask me if you really must but don't do it in front of other staff then keep going on about it.

I'm getting good results with my trainer but he's leaving in a few months. I'm sad already. Plan B is to start crossfit after he goes cause I love a challenge & need the camaraderie. After reading this thread I think its the right way for me to go.

Welcome. I'm Wellington based, in 40s too, and have a crapload to lose. Doing it slow & steady this time too. Going well so far. Wishing you all the best.

I do 2 pilates classes a week as well as weights and cardio. I totally recommend it. Pilates improves mobility and flexibility whilst weights helps with strength to do pilates. Very complementary.

I'm feeling full of head cold right now
