my Mircosoft band 1 doesn't add steps for driving either and I drive a very old bouncy polo

it's all about Bluetooth headphones, I got a pair over a year ago and now the thought of running with normal wired headphones makes me sad get yourself a pair of these…

this is weird one, it's very highly praised and lot of people recommend it but I've seen very few people say they've done it or are doing it I downloaded the app and thought it was quite good but didn't get past day 1 as my core strength was too rubbish to do most of the moves so I was disheartened and gave up I plan to…

thank you all for getting back to me with your helpful advise I think mixing things up a bit will help me, i'm going to try and swap me evening runs to morning ones, I really enjoy running but normally by the end of my working day I've managed to convince myself that I can't run that night, hopefully swapping to prework…

I've only got my target set at losing 1lb a week, the thing is I have enough calories most days but I just feel very lazy about counting what I've eaten and keeping track of it all, I'd say the best way to describe it would be to say I feel a bit burned out by it all, I've been tracking for a while but because I've been so…

the rule I go by is if the symptoms are above my neck i'll exercise but anything lower and i'm resting so for example a runny nose and i'll run, but a chesty cough and you'll find my on the sofa with a blanket begging my wife for cups of tea

I'm glad it's not just me, trying to run and count and not pile it just doesn't work my breathing method is just if I start getting a stich slow down a bit until it goes away otherwise it's just open wide and breath in or out one after the other

I absolutely agree with this, especially for the first 5 weeks, you get a nice boost of encouragement and some helpful tips along the way and the music is well times and appropriate to keep you going once you get to week 5 and are doing 20 mins solid the music gets a bit boring so that when I changed up but

I think the important thing is to make sure you have a rest day between your running days you could run Sunday Tuesday Thursday if you wanted or even Sunday Wednesday Saturday if that worked for you, just make sure you don't try and do 2 days in a row

i can't speak highly enough of C25K, it's perfect i hadn't exercised for about 10 years but as soon as i started C25K i fell in love with running, it wasn't easy at times but i'm so happy a did it, the joy of completing a run you didn't think you'd be able to do is incredible the feeling when your first do a full 20 minute…

oh balls, that's what happens when i try to be useful before i've had my morning coffee
-
i think you've got confused by the deficit explanation you have you BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which is how many calories you can eat a day, if you eat exactly this about then you will neither lose or gain weight if you want to lose weight you need to eat at a deficit to your BMR, so for example my BMR is about 2200, so to…

i'm not sure what this means in terms on running but i suspect it's not quite as fun as i'm imagining i always have a pre run coffee followed by some nice cold water, that helps move things along so i don't have any mid run issues i also don't eat for about 2 hours before i run, if i do it leaves me feeling quite sick and…
-
yeah if you haven't got a food scale you're going to struggle, well i know i would anyway other than that it all depends on what sort of exercise you do, if it were me i'd get myself a nice expensive pair of good Bluetooth headphones
-
absolutely, i wouldn't get anywhere if i didn't have music, that's one of the things i love about running i being able to switch off and just enjoy listening to music without any distractions
-
yeah the first 10 minutes of nearly every run i spend in a hate fueled monologue telling myself i should just jack it in and go home, then i get in a the zone and everything is good
-
awesome :) thanks for your help
-
ah right that sounds good, i'll probably be running for about 40 minutes so am i right in thinking i'd just say i want to do a 30 minute mission and then once that's finished it'll just go into radio mode until i tell it to stop?
-
Hi guys/galls i was just about to start a new thread asking about this app but then i noticed this one so thought i'd just put my question here I've been considering getting this app but i just wondering if someone could clarify how it works for me is there a set distance for each mission or is it just a continues thing of…

Excellent work all :) i'm glad you're all adding to this can we try and add some lesser know music though, as much as It's Raining Men by Geri Halliwell is a monster of a tune i started this to try and find new exciting music :)
-
if you're looking for new music i've started this playlist for people to contribute to, you might want to check it out :) http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10055020/the-great-big-mfp-running-playlist at the moment I'm absolutly loving Galvanize by The Chemical brothers, really keeps me going

as a fellow geek/nerd i say congratulations, i too am running my way out the big fat hole i managed to did with crap food and no exercise and can totally relate to the whole treating it like a computer game :) one this really bothers me about your great story though, it's purely me being a pedant but you've put "My life…

i'm just going to give this a bump because so far i've really enjoyed using this playlist for my runs, there's some really good new music on there that's great to run to i'd love to get some more people on board i'm only slightly embarrassed that the last 4 posts are mine
-
I've had a few all at once 1. last night i managed to run 5k in 29 minutes, before that my fastest time was about 32 minutes, i can't believe how much faster i was and i wasn't even trying to beat my record, it just happened 2. while running i noticed a pain in my foot like there was a stone in my shoe, i kept going…
-
i lost about a stone when i did the c25k but that was with watching what i ate and some swimming too the best thing about c25k for me was having a new achievement every week, seeing myself improve really kept me motivated to not let my diet slip, i didn't beat myself up if the scales didn't move because i knew i'd run for…
-
i started this the other week, its a playlist for running to but i'l sure it could fit to what ever workout you are doing, there some nice hip hop in there at the moment but i don't think any 90's stuff yet http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10055020/the-great-big-mfp-running-playlist#latest

honestly the Couch to 5K program is amazing, i did it last week and i've been running ever since i started not being able to run 1 minute without stopping, the idea of being able to run for 30 minutes without stopping seemed absolutely ridiculous never mind being able to do it in 8 weeks but i gave it a go and its amazing…
-
thanks everyone, i will take a look at planks and try and stick at this i'm not at all surprised i've got a week core, it's almost like not exercising and sitting at a desk for the last 8 years wasn't beneficial to my health for the dips i had two garden chairs, one either side of me
-
sorry i've probably not worded that very well, when i say a push up at knee high i mean my hands a knee high like in this picture

yep this is me, my wife knows there are 2 reasons why i'm being grumpy, either i'm hungry or i'm sleepy it it's past my normal eating time we both know the hanger is coming and that we need to find some food soon
