  • - There's a guy at my gym who pedals BACKWARDS on the elliptical...meaning there is absolutely ZERO resistance. Meanwhile he stares at the rest of us huffing and puffing while he speeds along. I don't have the guts to tell him! - A guy was doing a (fantastic) plank next to me once when another guy came along and gave him a…
  • It is difficult to say for sure without seeing the spots. I would go to the pharmacy and get the pharmacist's opinion on it. They can either recommend something for you or tell you to go to the doctor. My guess would be a rash, probably from sweat. If so, I would use a combination hydrocortisone and anti-fungal cream…

  • I joined the gym to get a hot body...my hand callouses (at the base of my middle and ring fingers on each hand) are SOOO HOT!
  • 1) People using the area at my gym specifically dedicated to their 30 minute "Quickie" circuit workout (involving 8 minutes of elliptical/stepper, 8 minutes of bike 1 minute each on 8 weights machines, 3 minutes of abs and 3 minutes of stretching) to spend 10 minutes on a single weights machine when there are 3 identical…
  • Please go to the pharmacy right now and buy her something (e.g. Hydralyte, Gastrolyte) with electrolytes in it. They should have it as liquid, icy poles (popsicles, whatever you want to call them) and as a powder/effervescent tablet to mix with water. Even a sports drink would help. The biggest risk to her is getting…
  • I'm sorry, but WHY would you scrape the filling out of a chicken kiev?! I'd either do like 3/4 of the kiev, or find the calories for chicken schnitzel and add the garlic butter separately.
  • Like other people, I take psyllium, however I have it through Metamucil. I have the orange flavour (can't speak for the lemon-lime but the berry one is nasty!) and mix it with carbonated water. Tastes like Fanta! So it has 3 benefits: it gives you plenty of fiber, it gets rid of any cravings for softdrink and it's very…
  • Does anyone else think they should put little laptop desks on recumbent bikes? I would get SOOO much cardio done if I could just sit on one of those while writing my thesis!
  • Kind of random, but I managed to find some in Target that go up to a G cup! They're really nice - a minimiser with back smoother, plus they are smooth all over so don't show bumps under silky tops like most bigger bras do (the reason I tried them!). I actually bought a new one last week and it still has the tag on - the…
  • I've had a few in the past couple of weeks: 1. As of this morning, I am a mere 5 kilos away from a healthy BMI. 2. When I went to a musical a couple of weeks ago I bought my customary show t-shirt (I have A LOT of them, mostly all too big). My mum persuaded me to buy a medium which, as I discovered when I got home, was an…
  • I saw Legally Blonde the Musical last week. This is Erika Heynatz who plays Brooke Windham: http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/celebrity/celebrity-interviews/we-chat-health-and-beauty-with-erika-heynatz-10231 Had they sold skipping ropes at the merchandise stand, I would've bought one. (I was pretty happy with my…
  • Magnesium is fantastic for cramping. Otherwise there are products that have a combination of vitamins, etc. for cramps (including magnesium). Take a look in the pharmacy or health food store. If you're going to be taking calcium, I would also check that you're getting enough vitamin D. It allows you to absorb the calcium…
  • Thankfully my Gs are now Es!!! I would say you're probably developing muscle around/underneath the breast, as opposed to losing fat from them.
  • I skipped today and feel SOOOO guilty! Even though I know I had good reason (I was so sore and exhausted and knew I wouldn't be able to get through my day at work if I did and even then I still fell asleep on the couch this evening!) I still feel terrible about it
  • Punches are really good cardio if you've got a lower body injury. You could also do some crunches and sit ups plus some upper body weight stuff.
  • I had a bumpy bus ride on about day 3...I actually thought I was going to cry from the pain! Don't worry, it gets easier. And then you go up a level.
  • I HATE them, but planks do wonders! At least you can aim to build your time up. Crunches, sit ups, reverse crunches...
  • And how would you suggest he do that effectively if he's not 'allowed' to exercise? Honestly, weight has nothing to do with it.
  • It sounds like your squatting form is a lot like mine. My PT won't let me squat with a bar on my back yet until it improves. I would suggest you stop doing the squats with the bar and instead do squats with a swiss ball between your lower back and the wall (try to stand as far away from the wall as you can). If you really…
  • Yes! I also love me some leg curl machine!
  • For me, people only really noticed when I bought new clothes, which was when I'd dropped 1-2 sizes.
  • Zumba!

  • Thanks for all the tips guys! I went for a tryout today (and then signed up). The gym has got a 'Quickie workout' - a half hour circuit involving cardio, weights, core and stretching - which was really good. Plus that section of the gym was upstairs, away from the massive glass windows, so another bonus! They also had…
  • This was one at work one day... Girl: Do you want an icy pole. Me: No thanks...I already had a piece of cake. Girl: But the icy pole has less calories and you mightn't burn off the calories from the cake today, but you will burn off the calories from the icy pole. Me:
  • Orange - dress head to toe in orange Officer - police, army, navy, etc. Oliver Twist Orphan Outlaw - main requirements are a cowboy hat and a bandanna over your mouth, then the best western style outfit you can manage Oompa Loompa - Brown long sleeve top, white overalls, green wig and orange facepaint (or fake tan) Octopus…
  • I love it! But yes, use SPARINGLY! Either do it on toast with a fair bit of margarine or have it with some cheese to tone it down (mmm...toasted cheese and vegemite sandwich!)

  • I actually was! Well, I was at my aunt's beach house about a 15 minute walk from the beach...
  • Make sure you keep your diet in check - try keep yourself busy to prevent yourself snacking during the day. That's probably the most important thing at the moment. Is there any sort of exercise you can do? If you can, maybe do some upper body stuff? Crunches, sit ups, chest flies, punches, tricep curls...they hopefully…
  • Lots of water plus doing sit ups every day.
  • We now eat dessert out of some bowls that my mum's family used as a kid. They're probably about the size of a teacup. At first they seemed tiny, but now they seem perfect and you still feel like you're getting a full bowl of dessert!
