  • Hi, I am Jennie. I am also currently struggling with the balancing act. I work full time 7 to 5. I leave work and go straight to school from 5:30 to 9 pm 4 nights a week. The first two weeks I still managed my 5 am gym routine along with 2 hours of homework after school... Starting week 3 the exhaustion caught up with me.…
  • I am so sorry that I can not be of more help. The only thing I know is that eggs can be replaced with apple sauce... I have never thought of being tested for food allergies. I have daily migraines, skin isses and itchy ear drums... Hmm... I don't know if I could be as strict as you are. Let me know if this helps with the…
  • I wouldn't call it room inspections... but, my teenage daughter is disgusting! So usually once a week I "help" her clean up. This is usually along with a conversation (again) about why we don't bring food into the bedroom and why I don't like to wash the laundry I had already washed because she was too tired, lazy, bored,…
  • A very wise person once told me even "experts" don't know it all. I too seen a Registered Dietician. She advised me to NOT eat back my exercise calories. It did not end well. I am 5'9 I am currently doing a 1600 base and eating back some exercise calories. I average between 1800 and 2000.
  • I work in an office 9 hours a day. I also go to school full time for 4 hours 4 nights a week. I pack my own lunches and snacks. I get up at 4:30am to go to the gym and then go home to get my 3 kids ready for school and myself ready for work. I am exhausted 85% of the time. There are mornings where I struggle to roll out of…
  • I have these days. I survive with herbal tea, fish oil and Vitamin B Stress Complex (be advised!!! It turns your urine neon yellow)!!! Last week I had a rough one where all I wanted to do was eat or cry... I ended up running 6 miles and felt better.
  • I have never liked eating in front of people... never really thought about why other than the insecurities of possibly getting food stuck in my teeth or something embarrassing happening (I am a chronic over-thinker) I was "picked on" daily by a girl at work because I weigh and measure all of my food. It got to the point…
  • I have struggled with depression. I am struggling again right now due to life changes... Even though they are positive changes it is still..... Change. Diet can affect someone who has or does struggle with depression. It can make problems more severe. I wish I could remember all of the words my counselor shared with me to…
  • I would say 23 to 24%. ***Edit to add*** I have used the bod pod and according to the staff at the Health and Wellness Center there can be up to a 2% margin for error in either direction. But with all that being said she still looks great and I believe the Bod Pod results are fairly accurate considering I am a person who…
  • Cool! Thanks for the help :)
  • Yes I am using the HRM for lifting. My cardio is around 300 calories sometimes a little more. I run a 5k in 30 minutes. I wear the HRM during lifting to monitor and keep my heart rate at 135 between sets of lifting. I do this by dancing or jogging in place. The HRM usually gives me anywhere from 147 to 200 calories burned…
  • I can totally understand the "friends thinking you are ridiculous" I hear this daily from a few of mine! But, I have some real life amazing friends on this journey with me and have met a bunch of awesome friends here who inspire me daily!!! Sending you a request.
  • Same here! Except I have a food scale so I cook my measured portion in a different pot :)
  • Lunch is a sandwich (they choose between ham, turkey, or PB+J) some sort of fruit depending on what I buy for the week which is usually green grapes, halos, granny smith apples, or bananas, along with a yogurt, a cheese stick, and chips or crackers. Her dinner specifically is usually around 6 ounces of meat (just from eye…
  • I understand that she does not need to count her calories. She is still a child and is still growing. I am going back and forth on explaining these things to her. I don't want her to become worried about it. On the other hand, I want her to understand nutrition and making better choices. In case you missed it in the…
  • How you got that I have issues from wondering about teaching my child about nutrition is honestly beyond me. I am pretty sure I mentioned in the post above that she is healthy and active. What I did not mention is anything about me. I am not insecure. Actually I am quite happy about my life, my nutrition and my fitness.…
  • Thanks for all the replies  I guess because I mentioned the amount of calories that made it sound calorie based. When I have the discussion with her it will not be about calories but more about nutrients and balance. As far as introducing healthier options... lol my kids are not picky they eat EVERYTHING I bring into…
  • I don't know about weight loss but I put a wedge in my water everyday just because it makes plain water taste better and I drink more of it. I also use lemon juice on salads instead of dressing because I like how it tastes and I don't waste a ton of calories on dressing. I wish it helped burn fat but I still have to run…
  • I specifically asked about this today because it worried me that I have been NETTING around 800 to 900 calories a day. Mon-Fri my daily calorie burn averages 450 to 500 a day. I don't work out on Sunday and Saturday is a "kid" friendly activity that I typically don't count the burn on. I use a heart rate monitor to give my…
  • I am not a professional!!!! I am just passing on what I have learned from seeing a dietitian for the past 3 weeks. I am 5'9" I am currently 169 pounds. And my goal is 150. I am also in the 20 to 25% range... I don't mind being here. I am "moderately lean" and I am ok with that. I was doing low cal 1300 a day. I wasn't…
  • Since reading this I explain to them why I weigh my food. Explain the serving sizes and how your body needs certain things to function properly, so I want to make sure that I am getting the right amount to keep me healthy. Tonight I told them that running keeps your heart healthy and strong and that is why I do it. I can't…
  • Opinion and matter of perspective. I didn't say running didn't make me lose weight. I stated I lost INCHES that cardio never touched.
  • I understand how you feel. I am not a "natural" runner. I CAN do it. I have to for my job. I do it often and have for 3 years consistently. I can tell you it gets more tolerable. As someone else mentioned running is hugely a state of mind. When I started to build endurance I used the elliptical machines. Not so stressful…
  • Great Post!!! From a fellow free weight lady! ***Edit to add*** I was a strict cardio girl on the treadmills and elliptical for years.... Lifting did more for my sexy than cardio ever did!
  • Raising 3 girls... and I am guilty of some of these things... This really opened my eyes to start being more accountable with my words and how I let them see how I feel about my body and my diet. Just thought I would share.:flowerforyou:
  • My husband and I hike and Roller Skate! I knew I had found my soul mate when I talked about old school speed skates and not being able to get into the Inline skating!!! My kids love it too! And they also wear speed skates because we're just cool like that!
