  • Tha is for starting this board! And for the invite :)
  • Well said, Brad! *virtual high five*
  • Like!!!!
  • This is a tricky one; following Paleo strictly for the first time likely means greatly increasing overall fat intake (good fats of course ), and while your body gets used those additional fats you will feel much more satiated and less hungry. In fact, you might feel stuffed to the brim before even getting to your…
  • Amazing amazing amazing!! What an excellent example of how faith in this process PAYS OFF! Keep rocking it, girl!!
  • This would match my experience. My BMF gave me, what I thought, was a wicked high reading (TDEE 2800). I ate that, well, slightly less than that (2600) for awhile, gained weight, and decided the BMF was wrong. Dropped down to 2300, thought I was maintaining so that must be TDEE, right? Wrong. Here I am eating 2800 and…
  • I believe this to be true. Quick story: Before EM2WL, I yo-yo dieted for 8 years...in the middle of that our son was born (3.5 years ago) and I had to go on a super restrictive diet (he had food intollerances and I was exclusively pumping for him) and was probably only eating 600-700 cals a day for 9mo (so, so, so…
  • Great question! Thanks for a great answer, Heybales!!
  • Lovely! Thanks for sharing. :flowerforyou:
  • I third this. :)
  • Good, avoid the scale, in the early phases of EM2WL, it is not a useful tool. Later on in the process, it might be, but early on, not so much. :) Yes, I think you will get to a point where you can say "I'm ready for cut." That being said, this can't be an emotional decision (no "I can't stand eating so much, I have to cut"…
  • Go with the Scooby calculated #s or ^^ calculator is my recommendation. Using a TDEE measurement is going to spread your calories from a weeks worth of activity across that week...doing this will teach your body that you are consistently fueling it, even though one day you probably eat over your actual burn and other days…
  • I guess that all depends on how you calculated your TDEE.. I'm a big believer of eating the same calorie amount everyday (at least until you have all the X, Y, and Zs sorted out); however, you should always keep you "net" number above BMR, so if your BMR is 2000 (for example) and your cut is 2500 (again, example) and you…
  • Good! Questions are always good. :) Just keep the faith, brotha. This process is legit, if you BELIEVE, COMMIT, and WORK IT. I'm living proof; in one year, I've lost 3% BF, am down 4 dress sizes, and, most importantly, the number on the scale no longer defines who I am. Good thing too, I've gained 4 lbs (of lean muscle…
  • Love your committment, girl!! Lots of NSVs, and many more to come (along with some SVs, too, I'm sure). :) Keep up the awesome work!
  • You might need to do the full reset, yes...but you might also want to "drill down" a bit with your numbers to make sure your calculated TDEE is correct first...like getting BF% measured (recommend BodPod or having a trained pro measure with calipers) and using the Katch-McCardle method, getting anal retentive on food…
  • This. Exactly this. YOU are greater than any arbitrary number!!! YOU are awesome. What an amazing story, honey. One that far to many women out there struggle through but NEVER recover from. Keep fighting and doing what you are doing. Lift. Eat. Rest. Repeat.
  • Everybody is different, but TDEE-%20 is a good start. My advice is to give your body time to adjust and then reassess. Indicators like weight stabilization and then decrease (while cutting) would tell you that your body has forgiven you for any VLCD time spent, and you can proceed forward with your weightloss/fitness…
  • Most do have that "I'm so full I might explode" feeling at first. It will pass, and then suddenly you will be hungry all.the.time, even when you have eaten every last calorie that made you feel full the day before... It's all part of the process. :)
  • Me too! I log into MFP from my iPhone 99% of the time and even on the days I don't log, I'm in the app 20x reading my friends update. I think it would be harder to lose my streak than it would be to keep it going. LOL
  • Well, I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm chiming in to share my experience (which, I am over-the-top-OCD-like-expert in ). I've felt pretty unsure of my TDEE for months. Most of 2012 I was eating at, what I thought, was my correct TDEE (according to Scooby's Calculator). My weight never stabilized, though, it…
  • ^^ I completely agree with this. Focus on getting between 1-1.5g of protein per lb of body weight during the day, sometimes that doesn't necessarily equate to 30%. Also, I am a firm believer that a before/after workout meals are super important for strength training performance and healing muscles afterward. I always get a…
  • You probably already know what I'm going to say, but I'll say it anyway (caz I like to type ). I vote eat to hunger, but stay between somewhere between TDEE and 15% cut. Promotes maximum healing for the body, and will make you feel tons better!
  • Great read! Thx for sharing.
  • The idea is a bit overwhelming, isn't it? I'm hoping to start an MBA program this fall (studying for the GMAT right now)...with all the balls in the air, somedays I wonder about my sanity! I think the best way to juggle everything is to experiement until you find what works best for you and then stay flexible. Good…
  • ^^ this is awesome. Thanks a million!!
  • My OwnIndex (Polar's version of VO2max) number is showing currently as 50. I'm not sure how that translates (or if it does, at all) to actual VO2max numbers, though. You make a good point about my HRmax being higher than the HRM is set, I looked at the settings and Polar has my HRmax as 188. I've seen 190 on my HRM before…
  • Heybales - thanks a bunch for the additional insight! Ok, so here's what I should have done in the first place, give you the story, I'll try to make it brief. Stats: 32 yo, 5'5'', SW: 142, CW: 144.7, BF% (as of Nov): 27% I started EM2WL last March at 15% cut (1800ish) of my scooby calculated TDEE of 2150ish.…
  • Bumping caz I think we aren't all on the same page on this one...
  • WoW...I'm will need to read your answer severel more times before it sinks in. LOL Am I understanding correctly, that what you are saying is, in the case of someone who has been in caloric defecit for a certain (albiet unknown) amount of time, their RMR will decrease (thus TDEE would decrease), so scenario (#1) listed…
