  • I used to have problems with my knees, they would pop while I exercised and then hurt like crazy for a couple days after. I went to the campus clinic for advice and what they said was to use elastic knee braces and if an exercise was still too hard on them, to step out of class and do low intensity cycling. The first…
  • I'll send you a friend request. Being consistent with logging your food diary, even on bad days, is extremely helpful in keeping on track because it makes you more mindful of your choices. It's awesome you've stuck to your gym routine so long! Log your exercises for a little extra room on your calories :)
  • I have the same problem, although my snacking sometimes turns into some pretty bad binging. Best we can do is keep working on it. I'll send a friend request, add me if you want a little mutual support and accountability
  • Jan 8 Me: 1 Binge: 2 I'll win again tomorrow
  • I've been on and off mfp for years, most faithfully in the past year, successfully losing 25 pounds. However, food has always been a struggle for me. Sometimes I'm fine, I can stick to my healthy calorie goals for several weeks at a time. Other times, I'm careful all day and then stuff myself with sweets, salty snacks, or…
  • Are you able to use your prosthetics for exercise? If so that would open up a lot of options. Also band exercises might work for glutes
  • Maybe look for a supplement just for the next couple weeks
  • I really hope you decide to increase class size. I'm on the waitlist and would love to orange card in
  • I love doing a chopped veggie salad with a can of tuna, olive oil, and balsamic or red wine vinegar
  • You might use the more general exercise classifications. I'm not 100% sure of the makeup of a fluidity bar exercise session but judge based on what type of work you do with it: if it's fast paced and get your heart moving, you could list it as aerobics, or if it's body weight style exercises then consider listing it as…

  • I ended up just getting lazy about logging for about 2 months but tried to eat reasonably. I regained a few pounds but as soon as i started tracking again it feel back off in a week so I'm assuming it was water/glycerin so i feel like i wss able to reasonably maintain my weight.
  • Thanks so much for posting this I'm excited to get started! Start weight: 255 Current weight: 245 Current Goal weight: 239 Long term goal: 155 5'6" female 06/02 06/03 06/04 06/05 06/06 06/07 06/08 06/09 06/10 06/11
  • Mine has to be wiggle room. Even though i have a high calorie goal (1900), sometimes i have days that i go over. But usually on those days the "if every day was like today" still shows a downward trend which gives me confidence that even on bad days i can continue to work toward my goal.
  • If you've been stalled for more than a couple weeks, try bumping up your calories by somewhere around 200 (a little more our less depending on your current weight and intake) for a couple weeks, then cut back down. I'm not 100% what the science behind it is but it seems to work well most of the time if you stall out after…
  • If you're hungry, your body is telling you to eat. I would recommend making today a maintenance day and having a light but filing dinner. Maybe something like chicken or tuna salad with a little olive oil and red wine vinegar instead of mayo and some chopped vegetables (whatever's on hand that you think would taste good)…
  • I'm 5'6" 245 lb and losing weight at 1900 calories while sedentary. If i exercise it gives me a little more wiggle room for that extra slice of pizza
  • If your doctor said 6 months then go for it but pay special attention to any pain or discomfort in your abdominal area and adjust your intensity accordingly. Laparoscopic surgery is an amazing development that greatly reduces damage to your body caused by surgery which means quicker healing and less scar tissue but you…
  • The only running app I've tried is the Zombies Run! app. It didn't give much as far as guidance but allows you to import your own music and provides continuous chapter style storyline that has you running through the zombie apocalypse which can be encouraging by distracting you from the difficulty of your run. It even has…
  • It sounds like your feet are sore from working harder than they're used to. It sounds line you have great shoes! No matter what shoes I've tired i get blisters by 3 miles tops. Wearing a double layer of socks has helped a lot with that though.
  • That sounds like an awesome goal! But also keep in mind that's a really rapid rate of loss so if it doesn't come off as quickly as you'd like, don't get discouraged. Keep working at it and you will continue to see results. My goal is also 100 pounds, I'm about 10 pounds in so far but I'm feeling like my timeline will have…
  • Going for a walk tonight so light legs and core
  • That's really great! I'm a caregiver and that's an exercise I've encouraged for some of my clients. Pay attention to your posture and the position of your joints and watch for pain or clicking, especially in your knees. But if you're following those guidelines, i don't think you easily risk overdoing it. Throughout my…
  • If it's something occasional i wouldn't worry about it. If you're frequently finding yourself at events and it's a consistent stumbling block, try bringing a bottled water or two with you, have a protein based snack before you go, find a seat on the opposite side of the room, but allow yourself a reasonable treat so you…
  • Be a tourist and see all the sights! If you're out to eat, stop when you're full, but enjoy your vacation, visit the museums, see the sights, stay on your feet as much as you can. One of my close friends went to Italy for 3 weeks a while back so that involved all you can eat pasta every single day but she actually lost…
  • You do bring something new every time you start again. You have experience from every time you've tried before, a guide to what helped you stay motivated, what you enjoyed about it, little tips and tricks from along the way. You also have knowledge from all the times you've quit before, what distracted you, what made you…
  • That's a really cute idea!
  • Some people can't do that. For example, people with some forms of anxiety have very little control over whether they read emotion into what's written. Since i am one of those people, i was suggesting a method i have found helpful in dealing with it.

  • That's awesome! Although it was probably a little frustrating waiting so long
