check out the stronglifts 5x5 program...first program i followed (and still do a 5x5 for the compounds) i tried since i committed to the gym for longer than 3-4 weeks. I started the program in Jan and hit goals I've had for a very long time by April/May.

Not sure about body dynamic but this is 100% correct when it comes to eating too few calories. Your body thinks you're starving and it slows burning fat for energy to consume it. What I find interesting is that I am not seeing changes but keep lifting more and keep getting comments even though I measure myself tape/scale…

I read a few other posts but didn't notice the mention of a weight gaining protein. 1-3 scoops = 450-1000 calories. I did a 4 week mini bulk and put on 10lbs resorting to the weight gainer and almonds for calorie boosters. I did it while doing the stronglifts program and I dropped bf% - generally, you gain fat on a bulk…

Stronglifts was a great starter program for me. It's very easy in the beginning and you feel too strong for it but by week 4 your lifts should be jumping +20-40lbs. it gets hard quick but you will build muscle in the process and break your records. I found it while searching for some program where you can burn fat and…

Follow fit people/profiles on instagram. Have those fit bodies in front of your face. Join fitocracy. Know what your TDEE is and make sure you don't get into the maintenance range. Do your own shopping for your own food. Create space for it and that is yours. You can reward yourself with junk on your 1 day, and enjoy it.…

You can look into Daly City, San Mateo, San Jose. Easy Bay such as Fremont and surrounding areas are cheapest - east bay, in general. Oakland is high crime but go south a bit and it is normal. Maybe stick to the South Bay so your husband can hop on caltrain/bart and go to SF. There's more IT jobs in South Bay…

I don't get that Scooby calculator. I should be able to add 500 calories to BMR to gain weight. It has +1000 calories just to maintain it. What?! I had a different calculation using the Harris Benedict equation, with which I saw results gaining and losing weight. You can look into a weight gainer protein powder. 1-3 scoops…

It's very important to track your activity and calorie intake. Without the gym, as someone mentioned you can do DVDs or you can get a fitness tracker like FitBit and of course use MFP to track your calories. You must know what calorie number to shoot for so you don't cross over to the "maintenance" weight range.

I used Fitbit when it just came out. It was great and has only improved. Fitbit has 3 of top 4 trackers....check this article. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2404445,00.asp Fuelband was the worst.

pre-mfp i looked in the mirror and just looked too skinny like i'm sick so i ate and worked out. found mfp when my face looked fat in photos.

when you hit a plateau you need to do 1 of 2 things. increase activity or decrease calories.

What is your height, weight, and daily activity level from 1-5, 5 = on your feet + gym You can send a message if you don't want to post publicly. You can either eat at a deficit, maintenance, or surplus of calories. We can figure our your number (it's called Basal Metabolic Rate, BMR) which is how many calories your body…

You can use www.eatthismuch.com to build a daily menu and be sure you surpass your maintenance number. Do you know what that number is? I would imagine a dietician would figure it out then add 500 calories. Nutrition shops sell weight gainer protein powders. From 450-1100 calories in 1-3 spoons. Let me know if you'd like…

Like others said, eat at a surplus. You need to calculate your BMR and add 500 calories. You will also gain some fat and avoid cardio because you will have to eat back everything you burn to keep you in the surplus range.

Interesting advice. 1. If you go over your calories you enter the maintenance stage so you're no longer losing weight. This is like saying "who cares, eat the pizza if you want to because depriving your wants sucks" 2. Cardio, in the morning on an empty stomach, has shown over and over to burn more fat than at other times…

Your body does know what time it is since you wake up and get tired around the same time! That said, being hungry is fine. There are programs which focus on fasting for 16 hours each day and your body can burn fat, too. You may prefer to space out your intake so your last meal/snack/item is closer to bed time. I ate…

There's some good advice and some really bad advice here. Don't do cardio. Do 5min warm up on an elliptical or how you like and that's it. This is because the calories you burn you have to eat back. You WILL gain some fat, that's normal. Nutella is ok but it has sugar and sugar is a building block of fat. What helped me…
